RE: Satellite equipment

You may want to check out Dish Networks new Pay as You Go plan. I hooked it up in AZ this winter. The Dish Tripod and Receiver was less than 300.00 dollars. I own the equipment. Set it up, call or go online to actavate service with a credit card, and your good for the month. If you won't need the service next month, don't pay the bill and its shut down until you need it again. There are no charges while your shut down.We pay 34.95 for the months we use it, and that includes local channels.

Pop Ups

Can someone tell me if pop ups are clasified as RV's or Tents. I would also like to know how they are licensed. Thanks in advance for your input.

Take it to a Raodmaster hitch dealer, and they will get you wired up right.

RE: Atwood water heater no spark

Check the gap between the ignitor and burner. If the gap is to large you get no spark. Mine vibrated lose and I was getting no spark. tightened it back in place. No more problem.

RE: Who has driven a 6.0L class C in the mountains?

I have a 27' o4 coachman on the chevy chassie with the 6.0. This is our third year in Az. you should not have any problem. You won't win the race to the top of the mountain, but you'll get there fine. Just keep the tow-haul on when your in the mountains. If the trans shifts to a lower gear on the way up, and it will, use that gear to come down the other side. I pull a jeep wrangler, and have not had to un hitch yet.If the engine temp starts to get too hot, turn on your heater, on high, it helps to cool down the engine.

RE: GOOD SAM DELUXE ? Changes?

I received the e-mail this morning also. What they are offering you is a credit card, that is non revolving. You must pay the entire balance monthly. I also noticed, the e-mail stated a .04 a gal. discount, but when I logged into Good Sam, there it stated .02 per gal discount. I'll wait till they get that straight, before I consider any offer. And of course, being a credit card, they will require your SS# and run a credit check.

RE: propane furnace vs electric space heater

This is our third winter in AZ. It seems to be a wash. If we use the electric heater, 25 kw a day. Run the furnace, and it drops to 8 kw a day, but we use a little over a gal. of propane a day. It runs a little over a hundred a month, either way. Use less electric, use more propane, More electric more propane. Now if propane is 4.00 a gal, like it was in AL, electric is probably cheaper. Try it each way for a wk, and you can do the math. But as the weather warms of course you'll use less propane.

RE: Interesting post on Quartzsite

I think the reason is many RV's come to town to spend 0 and have been doing a very good job of spending 0.
People would love to spend there money there. But they also expect to get there monies worth. Three dollars for a loaf of bread? Really. Restaurants have a special menu for the month of January, where every thing is increased a buck. Park fees go from two hundred a mo. to four hundred a mo. or if you want the month Jan., you have to pay for Feb, and March, up front no refunds .Sooner or later these business practices will bite you in the ---.

RE: Grocery Shopping in Quartzsite

Stock up as much in yuma as you can. In January the prices in Quartzsite are outrages. Even the restarants raise there prices 1.00 per plate,so we cook for the month. There are a couple of produce stands in town. We do 99% of our shopping in Parker, or Blyth CA.

RE: Verizon - Charging $2 to Pay Online

Another win for We The People. Its not the two bucks, its the thought that you want to charge me to pay you. Glad to see folks waking up. If a business dos'ent like the fees a bank charges, they should take on the bank. Those fees are figured into the bottom line, and we all pay them, even when paying with cash.

RE: satalite or not?

I find if your doing a monthly stay, parks with cable will charge 75 to a hundred dollars more than a park with out it. We went with Dish this winter, and are saving the Hundred bucks a month here in AZ. The equipment will pay for itself over the six months we are here.

RE: Verizon - Charging $2 to Pay Online

This is another step toward a cashless society. Just put your money in the bank, and I'll take out what you owe me, when I want to. I can't believe no one see's anything wrong with this. I think the Verizon web site should suffer the same fate as Bank of America. I for one don't want anyone in control of my bank account.I tell my bank when to pay you. And I'm Never late with a payment.

RE: RV parks that require a 10 year or newer rv?

What those parks are telling you, is they don't want your money. Give it to someone else and enjoy yourself. You probably would'nt like the people there any way. Most are grumpy, cause there portfolio tanked, or they missed a putt, and had to cough up a grand, to someone who knows nothing about golf.

RE: Wrangler Toad

I pull a 04 Jeep, with my 26 ft Coachman, Chevy 6.0. I took it to Roadmaster. I purchased there Sterling Tow bar. They installed the base plate, and wiring for the lights. I went online, did a google on Ready Brake. There they have Vidio on every thing you need to know about the product. How it works, installation, etc. I ordered it online and had it in three days. I've pulled it to Quartzsite AZ for the last three winters. Up to MN, thru SD, CO,NM. Never even know its back there unless you have to stop quick, you'll feel the brake push the Jeep back to release the brake. I did have to install a back-up camera to keep an eye on it. Good Luck with yours

RE: RVibrake

Yep - unplug the 12v and put it in the trunk - it fits into a laptop pc case.
I don't think I could trust a mechanical system - feel much more comfortable with modern day units.
You sound like a sales rep. Most times the tried and true products, will out perform the more MODERN day units. Hows that iphone working for ya

RE: Carpet Protection Ideas

I spent 40 years in the carpet business, and all carpet produced today has scotch guard in the fabric. If you delute the stain with water and blot with a towel, you will get everything out. If it is mud let it dry, brush, then vacuum.
Plastic runners will ruin carpet, faster than the dogs. Bare feet is worse on carpet than shoes. If you look around at the rv shows, you'll see alot of the units you see are going with hard surface goods.Carpet in a camper was always a bad idea.Once they wear a little, they make the whole unit look bad.
