RE: Ugly Encounter at Campground

I have observed different people have different perceptions of campground ediquitte. You two obviously differed. He was wrong for what he is alleged to have done. You did the proper thing to report it.

RE: Laptop or iPad?

I have an 64 iPad. It is about 3/4 full. Mostly music and some apps. I have a MacBookPro that I like very much. Also have a 64 iPhone 4s that allows me to connect all three devices to the internet. Each has it's unique features and speeds. I do different things on each device. I think the only thing I do in common on all three is listen to music, play games and surf the internet. The MacBook is the only one that has the Office Suite for Apple installed. I also use it to sync and charge the other two.

RE: Whidbey Island, WA

Check out Fort Casey. Outside of Coupeville. Not too far from Oak Harbor (also has a nice city park downtown) and Langley. The ferries dock right across from the park. Nice beach and you can watch the ships come and go through the straits.

RE: Windshields for older Class A's

You may want to give RV Glass Specialists a call. They have warehouses all over the country and could probably help you find a shop to install it. They will also give you some pointers on what to look for with a RV windshield.

RE: 96 jeep cherokee

I have been towing my '94 Cherokee Sport for years now. Started behind a 29 foot Class C . The weight ratio was great. Switched to the dp A. Same tow package and electric brake. I have to have something like 70k miles towing and that doesn't include the 130k driving miles. It is extremely easy to set up to tow. DW wants to get a new toad. My Jeep doesn't have a cup holder for her. I keep telling her that if anything ever happens to it we can just walk away from it and not be out anything. That is except having to find a like kind replacement.

RE: Puget Sound/Olympic Peninsula, WA recommendations

Take a look at Fidalgo RV Park in Anacortes. There is also a nice park when you make the turn on Hwy 20 to head to Oak Harbor. I think it is called Pioneer Trails or something like that.

RE: For those who visit Ocean City Maryland

Just left a month @ Castaways in Berlin. Interesting getting the local's take on O.C. Many say they won't go in there after Mem. Day. Too many people just come there to "just act up" according to them.

RE: Stupid Jack Tricks

If it is an HWH they recommend that after you hit retract (or store) you do not turn the unit off. It will turn itself off but will remain in a position to bleed off any hydraulic fluid pressure back to the reservoir.

NearCold 1201LR Quit/Repaired/Question?

Last Wednesday my NorCold 1201 LF started beeping and flashing an n c (no cooling) code. Did the reset as recommended in the manual....no go. DW called park office to get their recommendation for an RV repair. Called the person they recommended but he stated he no longer does rv work. Asked him who he would recommend. Called that place. Told the service writer what was going on. Told him I had the latest recall done for the over temperature thermocouple. That was my first thought. Said that I couldn't remember if the red led light should be on or off. He said off as "red lights on the fridge are a bad thing". Okay, sent a tec out. Nice guy who was in his 70's and "does this part time". His other job was an automotive tec. He tried to reset the control board and pronounced it DOA.
Long story longer. Ordered and installed new board. Thank you extended warranty. When the tec went to power up the new board he couldn't get any d.c. power to it. Started "trouble shooting" and discovered "this was the problem". It was the Norcold recall thermocouple. He said "you don't need this". It wasn't allowing d.c. power to the board. He disconnected the thermocouple and yes the red light should have been on. Ran the d.c. from thermocouple directly to board. Fridge worked. He left the thermocouple (which was removed) ground wire still hooked up AND a brown wire that ran up the vent stack. He said he couldn't see where that wire went. I asked if it went to the fans in the fan and if he could hear them running. He said he couldn't as his hearing was not that good. I listened and couldn't hear them running. He said well it is probably not up to temperature for them to kick in.
Finally my question: Do the fans run independently from the install recalled thermocouple "box"? Or does the "brown wire running up the vent" power them? Seems my old ones could be heard running most of the time. It has been three days now and I haven't heard the fans.
I am concerned I am going to lose the cooling unit. Need it to last another month as I am going to get an Amish cooling unit at that time.
Opinions please.
Thanks
Tom

RE: It's getting Closer!!!!

We are on day 302 but who is counting. I am just starting to get used to the idea. DW, coon hound and 26 y.o. & 18 y.o cats took to it immediately. I came to a revelation the other day that it takes me about a year to adjust to any major life change. Took me that long after I retired to keep from waking up in the middle of the night thinking "what have I done?". Now if I can only start getting rid of some of this unnecessary cra** we are hauling around.

RE: What have I forgotten?

Go in relatively light with fresh foods. Same with coming back. Plan to make a grocery store the first stop on each side of the border. Never know what is on the food watch list. Also double check with your insurance carriers that you have coverage in Canada. Cell phones can get pretty expensive pretty fast if you don't have international calling. Watch what is on you computers. I have heard stories of people's computers being checked and they had 'questionable' e mails and such.

Just say "Hi Ho Neighbor". If you want to attract a crowd and have them come over, just open up your hood or look like you are working on something. Works everytime for me

RE: Plugged into 50amp, getting 30amp

How many prongs are on the plug you have plugged into the pedestal? Have you ever had 50 amps before? You may only have a 30 amp coach. Otherwise you are only drawing on a single leg of the 50 amp service.
