RE: 2005 toyota tacoma long bed 4x4 jayco 264hh

thanks all for advice not going up any hills mostly flat roads only 45 miles each direction only it is interesting to see different opinions just want to make sure before i do this
Why do people think distance make some sort of difference? I just do not understand this philosophy! It makes ZERO difference how far you plan to tow. You can pull out of your driveway and get in an accident because you cannot stop safely. On the highway you can get an in accident five miles from home if the combinations is unsafe.and a truck passes you causing you to loose control. GEEZE fella. Wake up will you. This is NOT a good combination.
I totally agree. Not enough truck by a long shot.

RE: Gray/Black Valves open or closed when hooked to sewer?

Absolutely keep the black closed until at least 3/4 full.
I keep the gray closed also until it needs dumping...
The full flow of water helps clean out the system, otherwise you risk clogs and waste build up.

RE: I-70 in eastern Colorado will be closed - Snow

Pretty brutal, here on the plains about 30 miles east of Denver. I-70 closed in both directions between Kansas and Airpark Road (near Aurora). CDOT says it may stay closed until Sunday.
This is outside my front door! :)

RE: LaVida Pass?

On maps it shows as North LaVeta Pass. Elev. is 9400' and is an excellent U.S. hiway. The climb is a steady rate that is easy with two lanes each direction. Lots of pullout places if you need them.
That's right. Easy pass to drive. I have towed double, with a fiver and a boat, over there several times.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. I hope you have a blessed day and you enjoy your family, friends and fur kids. What an exciting game yesterday with the Saints and the SF 49's. Teabow and the Broncos had a rough time, but then there is next year.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

We're having a late Indian Summer here. Temperature is 52, and temps are supposed to remain in the 50's through Thursday. I'm hoping that the snow will melt enough in the yard for me to go out and clean what's now either buried or frozen into the ice.
Once the mud has dried up - eh Gary?! :B

RE: Dog Breeds

We have a German Shepherd (as well as a Yellow Lab, a Brittany and corgi/Beagle mix!). Take all four wherever we go and have never been turned away yet.
As has been mentioned if dogs are well behaved and owners obey the rules, then there should be no issues. It is usually the owners who don't give a d*mn about any rules that have the nuisance dogs.....
(We also work for the German Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies - lot of work but well worth it! :))

RE: Convert Gas Grille From Tank To RV

As I said above, the Weber Q series is the one you can adapt. That is exactly what Martyn did. Martyn posted nice pictures that show how to set this up with a Weber Q series. Now if Martyn will just tell the OP where to get the parts to do this, we will be done with this one.
They are LPG quick connect fittings. I took it to the company that supplies my propane for my home 200gal tank. I had already removed the regulator and they matched up the fittings with the opening size and thread on the grille. There were a couple of pieces we had to put together, but it works well. Remember to use the yellow ptfe tape when joining the fittings together, as this is for gas.

RE: Convert Gas Grille From Tank To RV

If your connection is AFTER the RV regulator, you can only use outdoor appliances (such as the RVQ) that are specifically designed for RV pressure operation .
Not so - you just remove the regulator from the grill and use the already regulated gas. That's what I did with my Weber Baby-Q and it works great.
Take the regulator off the grill, connect a quick disconnect to the grill where the regulator was, then hook directly to your quick disconnect under the TT. Only one regulator.... the one on the TT.
Here's mine - outlet is tapped from from the main LP line running under the trailer:

RE: Stabilizers for our new 5er

I have JT's and Rotochocks.
Researched them all before buying and looked at a lot of them installed on other 5ers.
I bought the JT's, and since experiencing them on my 5er, two buddies have bought them too.

RE: Camping near Denver, Colo

Cherry Creek is a good choice, not sure if all of the sites are still open this time of year anymore with the budget cuts though...easy access up 225 to 70 to Pena Blvd to get to DIA...
Yes they do - I was there last month and they told me that they have two loops open through the winter. One loop can be pre-booked and the other is for walk-ins.

RE: Camping near Denver, Colo

You might give Denver Meadows RV Park in Aurora A look, stayed there a week , end of November 2010. No problems other than wifi being spotty. Close to Airport.
Very old and run down park - right alonside freeway, and noisy. Half the sites have very old long-term mobile homes on, and the rest are pretty much a big parking lot. For an overnighter it maybe OK, but for a few extra miles down the freeway I would still take Cherry Creek. :)

RE: Camping near Denver, Colo

I have stayed at the KOA in Strasbourg when my wife was flying into DIA. Quicker for me from there than staying in Denver. DIA as you probably know is many miles east of Denver.
I live near Strasburg, and while the KOA is not bad, It is still about the same distance from DIA as Cherry Creek State park - and there is no comparison! - See below.
Cherry Creek State Park would be the closest to the airport with pretty easy access to I225.
Ditto - right by I-225 with easy access to freeway all the way to the airport. By far the best place for you. (We camp there a couple of times every year).

RE: Badlands - Black Hills

Purely my opinion but you can see the Badlands pretty easily in a day and if you are thinking Wall Drug, maybe an hour or two. I'd cut time out of there and increase in the Black Hills. You could spend a month exploring it. 4 days is not enough. Same for Sundance. Devil's Tower is a few hours unless you plan to rock climb to the top. The walk around it is not long. Don't know how you would do for three nights.
In fact if you don't want to spend so much time setting up and breaking down, you could set up camp in the Black Hills and have very easy day trips to the Badlands and Devil's Tower. Stop at Wall Drug for an hour driving through.
As I say, just my opinion because I love the Black Hills and there is so many great places to see.
I pretty much agree with this - spent a week at Rafter J earlier this year and while there did the Badlands and Wall Drug (one day), Crazy Horse and Mt Rushmore (both not to be missed) and time in Custer State Park. A visit to Bear Country USA was fun too.
Can't say enough nice things about Rafter J. Try to get a site in the 'Island'. We loved it there.

RE: Steady Fast Stabilizers

Yes they work well.
I have the JT Strongarms on my 5er.
I consider these to be the best quality of this type of stabilizing system.
And you have had Steady Fast, and they are not as good as JT
No, but I looked at them on a friend's 5er before deciding that I thought that JT's were better. It's called shopping...... My opinion might not match your opinion - you are free to think what you like.:S
