RE: Forest River or Heartland

I was looking at several different makes/models, but what sold me on the Heartland was the owner’s forum. The interaction with current and future owners, as well as “Ask the Factory” where you can ask specific questions to the factory, was amazing. That was a major factor in my purchasing decision, and I absolutely love my new Landmark Rushmore. Whichever model you decide on, you’ve got to get the auto levelers. It’s the only way to go!!

RE: Good dog kennel in Phoenix

I absolutely detested bringing my dogs to kennels, and they didn’t enjoy them at all. UNTIL I found Master Kennels run by Greg and Arleen. Their property is huge with separation based on size of the dogs. They have an awesome play yard with plenty of room and time outside to play and socialize. It’s extremely clean and I know firsthand that my babies are well taken care of. The proof is when you pick them up to go home, and when you bring them back a second time and see how excited they get. Greg has years of experience training dogs and I’ve taken both my Goldens there for training class, as well as a “Snake awareness class” that was quite impressive. He's a great instructor and very patient with the owners. I’ve recommended them to my entire family and friends. They are specific about shots and medical records, as well as certain breeds which they might not allow. Check them out and give them a call. I made an appointment and stopped by to check them out prior to making a decision. Arleen knew the names of every dog there, introduced me to their own dogs and cat inside their home. They made me feel like family and I knew right then and there my dogs would be clean, safe and loved while I was away. You won’t regret it. Wow, I sound like a paid endorser doing a radio commercial!!

RE: WARNING: Tailgate theft on the rise

I bet if you had watched Craigslist after your tailgate was stolen you could have bought a used a one the exact year and color you needed for half the price of new :) Actually I searched CL and backpage looking for mine, fully expecting to find it and repo it back. Never found it but I did locate an exact match for $400 cash. Now, I'm not saying I bought that and pocketed the rest.....:D

WARNING: Tailgate theft on the rise

WARNING: Last November my tailgate was stolen from my truck while parked in a shopping center. I filed a theft report thru local LE and contacted my insurance. After meeting with the adjuster, he handed me a check for…$4,200 minus my deductible!! I couldn’t believe the replacement cost for a dam tailgate. Ford just doesn’t keep a stockpile of tailgates on hand so they start from a shell, add all the parts to it and then paint it. The fold out step and bar cost more than the back-up camera! After a bit of research, I purchased the McGard tailgate lock for around $22 on Amazon. An easy install and peace of mind. Don’t get me wrong, the tailgate can still be stolen but the POS scumbag trying to steal it will have to take longer, which makes it much less of a target. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on the rising theft of tailgates out there (according to the Officer). They’re easy to remove, and easy to sell. Just check out Craigslist and see. While waiting for my shipment to arrive, I used a metal hose clamp to secure the right side of the tailgate. Worked good enough and was free! There are a lot of options out there and something is better than nothing.

RE: Surveillance Camera on Exteria of Our RV?

I went with the 4 camera system from Costco and currently in the process of the install. It was a fairly inexpensive system with internet connection making it viewable from anywhere. The main reason for this camera system is simple: DETERRENCE The average thief is only looking for something that’s quick and quiet. If they want inside your coach, then they will get inside no matter what. During my tenure as an Officer, I never took a burglary report where the home/RV owners had either dogs and/or surveillance cameras. I want everyone to know that my rig has cameras that are recording constantly, with an independent power supply.

RE: Did you have Christmas in your RV?

1st time Xmas camping and 1st white Christmas too!! And some people still think it doesn't snow in Arizona... http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r154/Markie5150/LandMark/Xmaspic.jpg http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r154/Markie5150/LandMark/F1-2.jpg http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r154/Markie5150/LandMark/F1.jpg A bit too cold for outdoor lights. We were up in the White Mountains, staying at Hon-Dah Resort and Casino.

RE: Fifth wheel leveling systems

Besides full-body paint, the auto levelers were the only other option I really wanted. I've had my new rig for 2 weeks and absolutely love them. Set-up is a breeze now, and being hydraulic makes it much quicker to connect and disconnect from you tv. I believe the type of RV you get that has the auto levelers are usually higher-end units, and I doubt the mfg would install a cheap system. So I’ll bet that most of these work exceptionally well. Either way, you will not regret buying a unit with this option.
