RE: Salvage Yard with Weekend Warriors

Walts RV in Rialto Calif.
Walts is a great place. Ran buy a bunch of really great people. Old school type. I've been there a few times. One time I went to pay with my credit card and their swipe system was messed up. The guy at the counter tried it a few times and it wouldn't take it. He just said don't worry about we'll take care of it next time you come in. I couldn't believe it. And yes I did go back and he didn't remember it but I stiil payed what I owed him. Pretty dang good if you ask me. And yes they have a lot parts and if they don't have them they can get them. Great place and the prices are great to.

RE: Does anyone else own the 2012 Attitude FL28AKLG

I'm curious what those more experienced think. Am I too nose high and should I consider flipping the axles? http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee10/strutter4526/Snapbucket/492AF4E1.jpg width=640
You do look just a bit high in the front. You'll be fine the way it sits now. 5th wheels pull different that the P/T's. While your driving and you drive through a low area or even a dip in the road, look in your driver side mirrior and watch how the trailer rear end handles the dip. You'll be suprized. It doesn't really go low in the rear unless it's a really deep and long low area.

RE: The Best Toyhauler Manufacturer IMHO

Eclipse has come a long way baby. With Attitude :B
Especially the cosmetics. Interiors and exteriors. The old colors were really bad and they had them for years like that. MDW said they were gross looking.
We looked at the earlier models and they were heavier than the newer ones. The new aluminum framing helps and I like the solid sides. Better insulation.
IMO they were the most complete toyhauler as they came with a lot more items while everyone else sold some of those items as extra's like fuel pumps, double bunks, etc..
They came with exterior lighting all the way around and the fuel station was on the drivers side which we liked better and is a better design I think.
There older 27 foot 5th wheel was a lot heavier dry than ours. I think the new ones are still.
If I ever buy a new one and had the truck to pull it I'd buy one.

RE: Glamis North KOA Niland, Ca

It's a cool place to check out, but really has nothing to do with Glamis. The Bradshaw Trail and related side routes are interesting, but are a ways from camp and therefore may be hard on the little ones' thumbs. SxSs love this place.
To say the least. Over 50 RZR's going on this weekend. March 28th to April 1. A lot of vendors to. Huge weekend out there for this. Wish I was going.
There is access to the trails from camp so you really don't have to travel per say.

Ours is in the same compartment as the exterior power cord and there was no way to tell until you bent over and looked up inside the space. Ta da, up high where you can't see it inless you know it's there. I know we don't have the same traile but just a suggestion.

RE: Stuck

Oh man that's a great story and I can relate somewhat to it and the Subaru. My 18 year old son has a lifted 2003 Ford Ranger with 33's he halls his dirt bike in to go riding. He bought it for that and so he could get back and forth to college and work. Because he drives 30 miles back and fourth to school he's been looking at a used Subaru to traid or buy and sell his truck for better gas milage. We've been back and forth on this with him for a while now as we told him we didn't want to deal with another used car right now. One of the items was what would he do if his friends went riding and he couldn't because he didn't have his truck. He said he would drive out in the Subaru and just hang out with them. Man I can't wait to show him this and the picture. Yep that would be something my son might do. What a crack up. Thanks for sharing this. Couldn't of come at a better time for us.

RE: Use your ramp as a deck?

http://store.jandsrvparts.com/rvwhiteoutbackroom.html
We have one of these with the cables. We don't use the room part but still use the canopy and cables to supprt it.. You can fold up the ramp without taking the canopy off. The cables come with turn buckles and C-hooks threaded. Just a matter of drilling holes in the right place on the ramp and ramp frame for the cable supports. Pretty easy. The C hooks attach to the cable loop and through the holes in the ramp door and ramp frame.

RE: Like A Rock

Hey, Did anyone notice the '74 model in this video? Those models were great!
My brother in law had on of those step sides. Olive green. Straight 6 with 3 on the tree. Bought is used. Had it for 10 years. Him, my sister and the kids drove from SF to here twice a year for those ten years without a problem. Daily driver for both of them as well during the same time.

RE: Hammertown, USA (New Aerial Photo)

Bessemer Mine Road is down to bedrock, that's why it's so bad. Boone and Camp Rock can be and are graded/maintained.
Did you see the "save the hammers" signs? Did you see reference to savethehammers.org??
Ya I don't understand whay they just don't doze another road 50' over from that one. It's been like that for years. Doesn't make scense to me.
Didn't see the Save The Hammers. Thanks for the heads up.

RE: Hammertown, USA (New Aerial Photo)

We were there Sunday. Pretty cool. Really big and lots of trailers. The Smitty Built first timer ran for the first time and a Jeep with some suspension beat a modified for first place. The jeep had a flat tire and they didn't even know it till they crossed the finish line and were being interviewed. They made history for being the first for that first race. Pretty cool.
Spent $100.00 on a T-shirt, beenie and cloth map of the race rout. Well worth it IMO. Some were complaining about the $20.00 per person fee to get in. Well worth it IMO. Especially since some of that is to save JV. They have a UTV race as well.
Vendor row, AKA (Hammer Town) was preety cool.
We are thinking of taking a week off next year to attend and maybe even race the RZR in the Smitty Built Race. Maybe we'll be getting Hammered in Hammer Town :W
My only question now is why can't Bessemer Mine Road be as nice as Boon Road or Camp Rock. Geezzz!!!!!

RE: Like A Rock

Why, after looking at the ad did I know you were a Chevy man? lol
Not a Very Curent one, because "Chevy" stopped using ..."Like -A-Rock" sometime ago.:S
Good point but we all know how long rocks last :B
sch911's commercial was pretty good to I'll have to admit. Getting Mr. Smith & Wesson 44 magnum to do the commercial was a great idea, And we all know how long he's lasted. :W

RE: Camping Out Of Wind Barstow Stoddard Wells Slash X Side

Thanks guys.
We camped off Stoddard Wells road off 247 1/4 mile north of Slash X with 3 other groups. All open of course. Had some friends sleeping in thier van and a tent. It was 21 degress Sat AM when we got up just before sunrise and we had to shake the tent and van in the morning to make sure they were still alive. Man it was cold. Thank god for toy haulers with heaters.
No wind till Sunday and Monday but it was doable. Just dang cold riding is all. We did fine a spot while riding about a 1/2 mile south of us off 247 across the street that probably has the smoothest dirt road access and camping area I have ever seen out there. It has some table top type berms about 6' tall that we may try to camp at next time. It was less windy standing behind the berms than on top of them. Probably try that next time. Good times.

RE: Trail Safety

We do the hand signals also, prob around 75 percent here know what they mean, not to bad. I was told it is a snowmobile thing to, so with snowmobiles being popular here also might be why ATVrs know it also. Our problem is we are usually in groups over 5, how do you signal 6-12 behind you?
Flash 5 fingers twice, then two fingers with one hand ????
