RE: Ninth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B9) May 18-20, 2012

One thing that hasn't been mentioned but really needs to be: A big thanks to Chris for the thoughtful and "practical" gifts included in the Rally welcome bags. I was going to make the same post this morning, Michael, but you beat me to it. We used the little flashlight the very day we received the bag, and we used the Bic lighter to start our campfire on Sunday night. Haven't needed to use the First Aid kit yet, but you never know - it's a good thing to have around (and it's so compact). Great stuff. Nothing useless.
...and another thing, Michael, you're downplaying your contribution. Taking care of the coffee is a responsibility, and it's one less thing for the rally organizers to worry about. Thanks for doing it. Getting up and out of bed that early during one of these rallies is no small task. You and Jane Ann also organized the hot dog pot luck on Thursday night (and you roasted the weenies), which we all enjoyed very much.
Man up!

RE: Ninth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B9) May 18-20, 2012

Back home and back to work, but now finally getting around to thank everyone who planned and helped put together another successful rally.
Biggest thanks to Nick, Chris, Jim, Carolyn, Michael, Jane Ann, David and Margaret for all of their time and effort before, during and after the rally.
Very big thanks to all of the rally sponsors whose contributions help pay for the meals, prizes and entertainment.
Thanks, too, to everyone who helped do "other necessary stuff" (clean up, put up banners, tend fires, put tablecloths on tables, take down banners, wash dishes, package up leftover food, cut pies, serve pizza, serve pie and anything else).
Finally...big thanks to all who volunteered to be hypnotized. There wouldn't have been a show without you!
It was great seeing everyone again!

We just registered for B9. We didn't think we were going to be able to make it but better late than never. :) Oh goodie! (David will be happy that he'll know somebody).

RE: pleasure way basis

It's all just my observation and personal opinion - not a debate. It's not really fair to post the "non-debatable opinion" that the Pleasure-Way Basis and Roadtrek Simplicity are in competition, since it would probably lead a casual reader to believe that those two models were within the same price range.
We went over then to look at the Roadtrek Simplicity and this looks less stripped down for a stripped down model and the Basis's competition. Yes. $20K less stripped down. In fact, when comparing by price, doesn't it make much more sense to compare the Simplicity to the Pleasure-Way Excel?
I'm not looking for an argument. I just wanted to get the facts out there...and I'm notoriously biased towards Pleasure-Way.

RE: pleasure way basis

I went to the Hershey RV Show and looked at the Basis. ..When compared to the other Pleasureway models - and other Class B's that were shown at the show, it was very evident that the Basis is a very stripped down model....We went over then to look at the Roadtrek Simplicity and this looks less stripped down for a stripped down model and the Basis's competition. You can buy a fully equipped Pleasure-Way Lexor or Excel for less than or equal to the price of the Roadtrek Simplicity.
As of today, Van City is showing the Roadtrek Simplicity for $87K, and is also showing a Pleasure-Way Excel at $87K and a Pleasure-Way Lexor at $79K.
Roadtrek does not offer anything to compete in the same price range as the Pleasure-Way Basis at $68K or the Pleasure-Way Traverse at $56K.
With a $20K price differential, I don't think I would say that the Basis and Simplicity are competition.

Yeah...that's my fault (which has been corrected - thanks, David), but it ain't because I'm drinking whiskey. I'm more of the vodka type (being FBP - full blooded Polish)...so that would be Belvedere. As my brother so astutely pointed out one day...what the heck do the French know about making vodka?

RE: Pleasure Way water heater question

Kind of obvious, but just in case...be sure that the valve for your propane tank is open.
The water heater on my '03 Excel is strictly propane (not electric).
Have fun!

RE: Water Pressure Without Pump?

If the air/water temp was cool when you filled it, and now it's 100+ degrees, the tank may have some pressure created by the heat. You may find that refilling it in the current warm spell will eliminate your "problem." That's what I was thinking.
SCIENCE!
Charles' Law: V1/T1=V2/T2 says that if we raise the temperature of a cubic foot of air, the air will want to occupy a larger volume.

RE: Water Pressure Without Pump?

If not, then your fresh water tank is not venting properly and you have pressure buildup in the tank. This is what I'm thinking...pressure buildup for some unknown reason.
There is no pump sound when the water is running, so it's not a faulty pump switch...i.e. the pump isn't on when I think it's off.
I emptied the "fresh" water (I use that term very loosely) tank yesterday and ran everything dry, so I'll see if the problem (???) persists on my next outing, after I put water into the tank.
Thanks for all responses.

RE: Water Pressure Without Pump?

I wouldn't be asking the question if I was connected to a pressurized water source...but, of course, you had no way of knowing that.
It does seem that I am defying the laws of physics, and that's why I'm asking.
It's just weird.

Water Pressure Without Pump?

I am able to get running water without the pump being turned on, and it's puzzling me.
Does anyone have an explanation?

RE: Ninth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B9) May 18-20, 2012

...I checked in in our Trailer Life Dir and found it is only rated 7.5 for bath and showers. I would like to come and meet all of you but my wife and I don't stay anywhere with a rating of less than 8. Just my view. I would have to tell you to not bother coming, because many of us already have a negative opinion of you.

RE: I finally found IT

What are some of the difference between the '03 Dodge and Ford PW exteriors? I don't have the third door on the passenger side (don't have the door without the handle). I also have a small window above the refrigerator vent behind that third door. It looks like the Dodge has a vent in that spot instead of a window.
I have to believe that my galley kitchen is a bit longer on that side since I don't have that door, and the widened body starts a bit more towards the front of the van.
This is weird, though, because my chassis is an '02, but it's an '03 conversion. I guess they made some Excels on both Dodge and Ford chassis that year.

Wow...the exterior looks just like my '03 Excel-TS (maybe your decals are a different color...mine are blue and yours look like the tan color).
I hope you have many safe and enjoyable travels with your new Pleasure-Way.

Thanks for the photos, Erroll.
It looks like I missed a great event. The campground looks very nice.

RE: Pleasure Way

$29,000 seems high for an '02 with that kind of mileage. I'd be happy (and surprised) to get that for my '03 which has less than 30K miles on it.

RE: Aux battery versus Generator

The refrigerator will drain the battery very quickly in hot weather...and I mean VERY quickly.
Make certain you're running the refrigerator on propane when dry camping.
The furnace fan will drain the battery somewhat quickly in cold weather.
I'm not sure where a second battery could be installed in a Lexor, but I've posted pictures of my Excel's second battery installation several times.
