RE: Help with replacing my Penguin Heat Pump

Is there a way to use the twelve button with both the new and old units--I assume some features would only work with the new one, but it's the workhorse in our rig.
By the way, is the twelve button hardwired or a remote? Can you get any wireless remotes for these units--like some of the higher end coaches have?

RE: Help with replacing my Penguin Heat Pump

What if he has two roof units. I have to replace our #1 penguin 15000 btu unit, which came with a ducted 2005 Mountain Aire, and am wondering if this is difficult to handle by oneself. Are the current units the same as ours? Do they require any special modifications or rewiring? We have a 5 button control, but I'm also wondering if the new controls would allow us to adjust the temp from the bedroom(we have physical problems that make that difficult).

Residential Frig changeover

Our Norcold frig is not cooling as well anymore and I'm wondering how much of a hassle it is to changeover to a residential frig. We can't handle driving more than 3-4 hours at a time, and don't dry camp. Do we need a different inverter or extra batteries, or can we "just" replace the one with the other?

Replacement for Penguin 15000

We have 05' Mountain Aire with malfunctioning Penguin 15000 front AC/heat pump, and are considering replacement.
1. Are there newer units with some advantages over our vintage unit?
2. Do any offer remote control which we can set in the bedroom (current control is up over the dashboard)?
3. Can these be self-installed? If we were able to install a Winegard Traveler HD sat finder, should we be able to handle this?
4. What's the best place to get them? (AdventureRV.net and Camping World only offer the 13,500 units.
Thank you kindly.

Hey Wendell, I totally agree. In fact, I have a little treat for you. It's just over here. No, a little to the right. That's it, right there. Now hold still while I cock this thing.

RE: Hail Damage Too Great

Some good advice. Also, your carrier shouldn't cancel you for a non-fault claim, particularly since you've been such a loyal customer.

First Ore-Glacier-Yellowstone Loop

We are from So Cal and have taken trips to Ore and back, and Yellowstone and back, but never to Glacier. We've had medical setbacks past couple years but God willing will try next year to go up the coast through Ore (Gold Beach) and then on to uncharted (for us) Glacier, Cour d'Alene, and down to beautiful Yellowstone.
We are wondering what you folks recommend by way of the best Gold Beach to Yellowstone a. route and b. full hookup parks for a couple old sissy campers like us.If possible I'd like to get in some fishing as well.
Anyone have some favorite roads and places along there?
Thank you.

RE: First wash job after using RMP3

Hershey,
Took me a while to learn this but Armor-all is NOT recommended for tires. It is a petroleum product which looks good at first but will dry the rubber prematurely. Your tires will start getting blotchy and worse, will die sooner than otherwise. Not sure what 303 is but I would get something specifically for tires, or use soap and water.

RE: Diesel Truck Oil Change . . . where?

If you're still under warranty I'd go to the dealer. Otherwise you can have oil changes done at a reputable truck facility. My father used to say oil changes are cheap, engine rebuilds are not, so I'm a believer in frequent changes.

Wi Fi Choices

I would appreciate anyone's insight into this. We would like to watch the new GBTV, which comes only on the computer, but our internet access thus far has been via a Verizon aircard, and Verizon says the 3 hour per day, high def shows would quickly overcome our megabyte allotment and become prohibitively expensive.
GBTV says you can do it with a ROKU device, but those have to be hooked into some internet collecting device, which we only have on the computer.
While picking up an HDMI cable at Fry's today I asked the sales associate about this and he suggested using a device which would allow some other access to high speed internet. Since we're in our motorhome we can't use the hard line Comcast-Time Warner type, but he said there are other kinds.
Does anyone have any suggestion about this, and experience with how much it costs, and whether you can stream high def pictures without the incessant stop-start-buffering (or whatever it is)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

GBTV

Not sure how many Glen Beck fans there are out there, but for those of you who are and know how to get GBTV without a Roku device, could you please let me know? We have a Verizon aircard on our computer for internet access. Is there some kind of usb to hdmi cable that would do it?
Thank you.

RE: New and female. Suggestions needed.

All good advice, but one thing I didn't notice and we've done, is to buy a used rig from a reputable dealer, and buy the biggest, most expensive extended warranty they offer. They're several thousand dollars but every one we've purchased has paid for itself within a couple years, if not sooner.
One other thing--advantage to a class A is towing a vehicle. If you do break down--a rare occurrence, so don't be put off--you have a spare vehicle to use.
Best of luck. The learning curve can seem steep, but it's fairly short. Many, many people have done it, and I expect you won't regret the life.
