RE: Help, where can I find a new shank ASAP

Whew, I think a couple local places will have one. Everybody is closed so I can't call around.

Help, where can I find a new shank ASAP

I bought the wrong size shank over the internet for my new set up. Where can I go locally to get the right one? Who will have a selection?
We are near Everett Washington, would a local RV store carry them?
The one I got works on the highest setting, but the unused part hangs too low. Would finding a place that can cut it be a bad idea?
Of course we are planning on hitting the road tomorrow...

RE: 2010 Surveyor SP189 Black Tank Problems

yep, we've tried different angles, I've put blocks under the tires to optimize the angle in our favor and it still plugged.

RE: 2010 Surveyor SP189 Black Tank Problems

Yep, checked that. We have to constantly add water to try to break the jam so the toilet is open plenty while trying to dump.
the tank dumps from the front then makes an abrupt 90 degree turn to the side of the trailer. My guess is everything plugs up at the 90. I thought about swapping the 90 for two 45's, but it's pretty tight in there and I may not have room for that.
I wonder if the newer models changed anything?

2010 Surveyor SP189 Black Tank Problems

Anyone else have a 2010 Surveyor SP189? Our black tank is a nightmare. It plugs every time we dump. EVERY time! We do everything right as far as chemicals toilet paper and enough water (30 gallon tank, we start with 10 gallons of water in it). We've taken it back to the dealer multiple times, they even replaced the black tank. Nothing helps. We dread going to the dump stations as it's a 30-45 minute ordeal to get it to unplug as the line build behind us.
I think it's just a bad design?
Anyone hear of anything, any advice?

RE: Another LED Question....

Be careful, not all LED bulbs are created equal! Some are a different color, some are not nearly as bright... Do your homework!

Thanks, I got one that ranges from 5" to 8.75" so I should be able to dial it in.

RE: How much drop down on 2012 Ram 2500?

Curt guy said they are made to be part of a system with a rating for the whole system, but 10K trailer and 1000 tongue is safe.

WDH shank length?

Does the shank length, on the receiver end mean anything other then how far the trailer is from the vehicle?
My current set up has a 10" length, but looking at my replacement options in the drop I want it looks like 9" or 11"
Pretty much as long as i can still drop my tailgate without hitting anything on the tongue I'm good. right?

RE: How much drop down on 2012 Ram 2500?

I think I'm going to get one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Curt-Manufacturing-17124-Hitch-Rise/dp/B001GMTKUW/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1335190682&sr=8-16
or

Note: I think amazon has the wrong photos, Curt's website has the right photos.

RE: Eaz lift shank compatibility?

Thanks, looks like I have options then. Does the length of the receiver mean much other then distance between truck and trailer?
The one that seems to work out has a 9" length and the one I have has a 10" length.

So the hole spacing should be 1.25" on center on all?

Hard to tell, my trailer is sitting on gravel so level is relative... I'm pretty confident i need somewhere between 5 and 7"

RE: How much drop down on 2012 Ram 2500?

I was doing it wrong.
I did it per this site this time:
http://www.etrailer.com/faq-ballmount.aspx
And now I'm getting 5 1/4"
Truck top of the receiver is 23.25"

How much drop down on 2012 Ram 2500?

Any idea how much drop down I need on a 2012 ram 2500 to get to a 18" hitch height?
I did the math and I'm getting 6.5" if the truck didn't sag. That seems like a lot? Am I doing something wrong?

Will summer gas prices bring TV prices down?

I know this is just a guess, but i'd like to hear other people's opinion.
I'm upgrading to a new truck this year, but in no hurry to do so. Is it worth waiting to see if the high summer gas prices they are predicting will bring prices down/incentives up on new trucks?
Or is there a better/best time to buy?

RE: New tow vehicle; need help deciding from brand neutral site

Awesome thread, I'm struggling with a similar decision and this thread has helped a lot.
I was leaning towards the Dodge, swayed, but now I'm thinking Dodge again.
Thanks for the discussion!

RE: 2 weeks - from seattle area - any ideas?

We've picked the Olympics this year because we're a little late for good reservations at some of the other options and we've already done some ground work for this trip. But I think we have the big trip for the next 3-4 years planned now! Thanks for the suggestions!
