RE: Sold on cast iron cooking

I'm going 48 years for myself. A Wagner (thus before Wagner-Ware) #8, thus 10" frying pan with matching lid is my most used utensil. Ok, Wagner, Wagner-Ware, Findlay, Smart, Javelin, Martin. Let's see about 10 flat bottomed stove top pots from 10" to 12" for baked beans, apple butter, chili...... Over 20 Dutch (Camp) Ovens for outside. Hmmmm. Camp Chef, Lodge, Griswold/Wagner Ware from after W-W bought G...., Martin, Balto, Furphy, Harding, ....... Spiders..... Only two roasting pans, Wagner, & McClary Sizzle serves Griddles. Or black babies to love and enjoy. Cast iron is :B :B :B

RE: RV.NET is dead...

I'm sure the Company will just love me for this. & maybe it's not good luck to say this, but I use Firefox, which has AdBloc Plus for an add on. I don't see ads and I don't seem to have the problems so many of you are talking about. Of course, I also go in through Woodalls or one of the even smaller, less traffiqued portals, which don't have that weirdo mixed format of some stuff entered on the horizontal and others on the vertical the way rv.net does. Just a thought. :C

RE: Firefox Bookmarks

Menu, tools, Options. You might as well go through and review every nick and cranny of your options. I have been assuming you put your computer through all of the clean up and empty procedures, clear cache, clear cookies, defrag, run CCleaner, run Malawarebytes, run full scan of your anti-virus software......... I try reading the FF help pages too. But usually, folks here say things more clearly than FF does. :C

RE: Frank Spence

Thank you for posting. All the best to Lucy and the rest of Frank's family. He was so reliable, a person you could count on to post logical, easy to follow points about so many parts of rving in Canada. :C

RE: Firefox Bookmarks

What happens if you open Firefox to your home page. Then your FF is open as a browser. For example, on FF I use international edition of CNN. On Opera I have home page set for CBC News.ca This gives me a browser page. Then how about if you key in www.google.ca? Try that. :)

Forum subscriptions

Ok, sometime ago I had a problem, posed the question and subscribed to the thread with email notifications. Then last week I had a problem on the same topic, but different in what was happening. I used the same thread and checked the status of the subscription and yes, it had "send email notifications" with a dot in the proper circle. If a new posting has been added I see that up at the listing of subscriptions in My Forums page. But not an email notification has been sent. Tom, have you an answer as to why? :C

RE: Firefox Bookmarks

Well, will wonders never cease. Long about Apr 23 or 24 I came home and read on this thread and downloaded KompoZer and about that point thought 'brain not really alert now' and quit. & sometime or other, FF12 showed up and said: "do you want to install". I left it. Now, tonight I thought shut down, restart and let the computer do some self maintenance. & as I restarted FF and keyed in urls I've 'learned by repetition', I saw that the history was giving me options from the url frame. Ok, can I create a bookmark....... Yes, I can. Try import. Voila, did KompoZer do what was needed up to the point of restarting the computer? & yes, very nice to have the bookmarks back. Thanks for all the help. :B

RE: Firefox Bookmarks

I can't see any of the bookmarks at all. I can't see any record of where I've been in history. FF won't save any new bookmarks. When I do back up bookmarks, I get those same 10 dates as in the profile. But FF gives me an unable to perform error message. I thought you meant to go to the files I find in the profile I located with "%appdata%". Trouble is I can't find that going through Explore on my pc. I can find "AppData" right below my name as pc owner. But when I click on that I don't find anything that would lead me to the profile. Still flumoxed. :C

RE: Firefox Bookmarks

Thank you and saying my prayers. Would you be a bit more specific about exporting to an HTML file. I'm assuming you mean from the folder in the profile on my computer. I may have done this some time or other, but likely 10 years ago. Also, I might mention that there's a web location that opens a live cam in windows media player for viewing. These past few days it won't run in windows media player. Could it be related? Link is: http://www.psnh.com/Environment/Osprey-Online.aspx. Then in middle column 4th paragraph, the is in the words "Osprey Cam". Just wondering. :C

RE: Firefox Bookmarks

I'm still in lost territory. I've tried uninstall, and new download of FF 11. I read through what I think are all the settings and can't see any reason why the FF on my pc won't create bookmarks. I went to the FF help files. & did the copy profile to memory stick. Then followed the suggestion of pasting that back to the profile location on my pc. NO CHANGE. :E:M:E Yet, as I said, I tried creating bookmarks in Opera and can do that. But Opera is way too slow for any long term use on my slow rural connectivity. & Opera has no add bloc. What can be wrong. - Is it a setting in Firefox? - Is it a bug some where on my computer? :h

RE: Firefox Bookmarks

Ok, I've found the profile and the Bookmarks Back up folder. Date - there are 10 files. "JSON File 137 KB But the other thing is something is keeping me from putting in any new bookmarks. I've tried to follow some of their how tos and and they lose me. Also I might mention on one run of Malawarebytes, I had two bad files I've tried setting up Opera. Slower than Moses snail and then some. & of course, no adbloc. :h

RE: German Newbies want to see Canada - starter questions

Re. buying, pm member Danoren, he is an Israeli citizen who owns a 5er on this continent. Yes, they have relatives on this continent. They tour by moving their 5er to a new place each year. & usually store with an rv.net member. I have met them, but I have no idea how they handle the insurance. Also, another suggestion, start in the early spring in Virginia or south of their, go across to the Pacific Coast and up. Southern British Columbia has little snow. Then in May begin to tour Canada from west to east. Or plan as Danoren and his DW do, travel a bit each year. All of the provincial guides should include their historical sites. Re. Atlantic Canada (includes Newfoundland & Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island & New Brunswick) google.ca for "French Shore" Period involved is about 1604 to 1904. French retained some rights where they had ceded settlement rights in some places. :C

RE: Firefox Bookmarks

It's happened to me again. & under import and back up, restore has 10 dates. When I click on them, I get "unable to process request" & there is nothing in back up. BTW, when I came up against the problem, I shut everything down and then did a system restore. :(

Early Tourist Attraction

Well, the Newfoundland & Labrador provincial government run www.icebergfinder.com doesn't go active to give locations of icebergs until May 1, But the news of the day is reporting one such hovering in a harbour of a St. John's village, Quidi Vidi: http://www.newftube.com/video/Iceberg_Quidi_Vidi_2012 Video included. 2nd video of rock climbers, ice climbing http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/story/2012/04/18/nl-iceberg-climbers-419.html ;)

RE: German Newbies want to see Canada - starter questions

WELL, the member donn0128 needs glasses and guides, especially guides. I'm so sorry said member made such little effort in the East. Having lived out this way much of my life, I find it most enjoyable. This is where early settlement took place. http://www.pc.gc.ca/lhn-nhs/ns/louisbourg/index.aspx is Fortress Louisbourg in Cape Breton Island. It's been reconstructed and is staffed by folks in costume and in role. & that means at least 2 days east of Halifax. Yes, Halifax had a later fortress, once the English got there. Make sure you get in touch with all provinces for their visitors guides. Go to a search engine with a domain code https://www.google.ca/, ie. the .ca so that you're searching Canadian sources. Put in 'name of province' plus 'tourism'. Now, I call those sites so I can get material on my special interests, but you certainly will get help just by the online request. Make sure you get a provincial map. Of course, your trip is going to be a sketch, but that's better than not coming. Enjoy. :B

RE: 2 questions; dogs and fish through canada?

You use to say a health certificate was required. A few years ago you changed to Vet recommeded. Now it's "many Vets on both sides." How many? And how do you know? The heath certificate is not required. http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/23970671/gotomsg/23971280.cfm#23971280 http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/23677177/gotomsg/23690290.cfm#23690290 http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/21763914/gotomsg/21780601.cfm#21780601 I trust you're enjoying yourself inventing twisted verbal fluff where none is given. I trust you're pets are doing just fine. :R

RE: 2 questions; dogs and fish through canada?

Many vet on both sides of the border recommend having a signed health certificate for dogs. This is not required and not needed. Little Kopit and I have discussed the issue for 6-7 years now. She keeps suggesting the health certificate is important. But, she can provide no requiremnets for it. Nor can she document any problems from anyone not having a health certificate. Any vet that recommends the health certificate will galdly take your money to issue one. If vets say something and I pass it on, it is fact. Vets are trying to be helpful. A recommendation is not a must. Anyone planning a trip will adjust the time their annual visit to the vet to meet trip requirements. It need not be a special vet visit. The certificate has never been extra for me. It's the regulations that count, yet the border guards can't ask about everything in the regulations every time you cross. :C
