RE: Nash vs wilderness

Northwood Manufacturing makes a good unit in both the Nash and Arctic Fox. We've had the Arctic Fox for 11 years and it has served us well.

RE: Has anyone decided NOT to upgrade?

We have a 25' 5'er w/o a slide. We've had it 11 years and for the first few years we thought we would upgrade to bigger unit. Somewhere along the line we learned how to organize (2 of us and we travel with 3 dogs)and have had so many good memories with it that it will be our last unit. Like yours, ours is trouble free now and has been over the years with regular maintenance. The shorter length has given us sites we would have missed out on and driving through major cities is doable. By not making payments on another rig we can deal with the price of gas.

RE: Are surge guards necessary

They are probably not necessary but we have had one for 4 years and on numerous occasions the surge guard has noticed reverse polarity issues at the campgrounds. We do not hook our digital equipment up at those sites.

RE: Diesel or gas engine....with next truck ?

Mine will always be gas...
Give me a Hemi, V10, 6.0 or 8.1 GM in the HD trucks. Heck, I would take a F250 with a 5.4 before I get a throw-a-way diesel that Ford is pushing nowadays.
Not throwing stones...
Last year I picked up an '06 CC V10 4.10 w/24000 miles on it for $24K. I have money to go RV'ing.

RE: So whats with all the crew cabs?

We've had the regular cab, the extended cab and now the crew cab. Nothing beats the crew cab for room, storage, and carrying passengers. We travel with 3 dogs and I also use it for taking fellow golfers with me to the course.

RE: Cabin fever, new old stove and new hobby?

Nice, fun, the winter months will fly by for you now. I've had a lot of fun with eBay over the years both selling and buying. I was hooked on historic postcards and I started exhibiting Type A behavior. Couple of times I had to hide the checkbook so the DW wouldn't see the damage. But it is a win/win situation for the buyer and seller.

RE: Older Tow Vehicle Recommendations

If it is only for towing and not a daily driver consider the Ford V10. I picked up an '06 for less than a GM 6.0L or 8.1L.

I have a 2001 23.5 ft Arctic Fox 5th wheel and will not be trading it in or offering it up anytime soon. Nothing goes wrong with it.

RE: Best used travel trailer to live in for a couple of years?

A some time ago friends bought an old 24 ft or so Nomad trailer. I think it was 14 years old when they bought it. Anyway, it had been stored under cover in Northern California, in excellent shape, and the owners had not used it in years. Though a cheaper, no frills model it was a full time home to this couple for 3 years. They got it by word of mouth. Look and ask around.

RE: POLL: WOULD YOU BUY THE SAME TRUCK AGAIN

Yes I would. I would buy the 6.0L Chevy 2500 set up that I got 175K miles on towing through 13 states and I would buy the V10 set up I have in my current Ford F350.

RE: Should I go out of my way to fix this delam?

I think the delam will keep growing because of condensation due to temperature changes inside the bubble. Moisture breaks down the water based glue. It will now happen even if the initial leak is sealed tight.
