RE: Tifton to Kansas City
There are endless numbers of great BBQ places in the Kansas City area, but one that is truly fantastic and I'd almost guarantee that you'll load it's location into your favorites in your GPS. It is called Oklahoma Joe's and is located on Strangeline Road about a block south of 119th Street in Overland Park (O P is a KC well known sort of upscale suburb). It is real easy to find. Get on Interstate 35. I35 runs from the southwest side of the KC area up through the city and continues northeast towards northern Missouri and Iowa.
Also located at this same exit off of I35 is one of the Bass Pro Shops, so you can browse and pick up some of your favorite goodies.
Trust me you will have a hard time narrowing down what your all time favorite BBQ entree is. Everything that we have tried has been totally scrumptuous. Think that I could sleep in their parking lot and eat every meal there for several days in a row. It is truly out of sight delicious and the menu costs are insanely cheap. I typically need to use a small power washer to clean myself up after slopping up all the fabulous sauces.
Please give this place a try either on your way out westward or on your return trip. I'd bet that if you stop by Oklahoma Joe's on your way west, you will certainly stop back by when you head back towards the Southeast.
Hope that you enjoy it at least half as much as we do and if so, you will want to return real soon.
