RE: TN, I-75 Southbound lane slidding off the mountain at MM143

Anyone have any knowledge of the delays on northbound I-75 at this site? I am getting ready to travel that route on Wed. morning and would risk a few minutes of delay rather than take an unknown 2 lane detour through the mountains.

RE: CoachNet

Nobodys perfect but I can tell you horror stories about both AAA and Good Sam while CoachNet has been extremely helpful particularly when my daughters were stranded and needed help desperately, CoachNet only for me and I agree that speaking to the right people at CN will get results.

RE: Lazydays sales

Had a friend who bought and had problem with service from them, he went to the head honcho there and was told to get out or he would call the sherif... never to come back..get off this property..needless to say he complied.
Sorry sir but I do not believe this at all unless your friend became threatening which then he would have deserved such treatment. I have made two purchases at LD's and have a number of friends,several from far out of state, who have also purchased there also and I can assure that each one of us will at least start a our search for new units there again.
As far as the OP's comments yes that must have been frustrating but you realize that maybe the parts needed for you fix might have been the hold-up, thats what happened to me on both occasions suppliers sent the wrong items and we had to wait, not LD's fault.
Any large organization will have people of various character and abilities working within, some to the detriment of the business, but I have never encountered people like that at LD's. I have been is sales all my life and in my view LD's is a well run sales organization with a definite eye towards customer service. Perfect no, but very good yes.

RE: Driving with slide extended?

Two years ago just south of Gainsville Fl. on I-75 as I was traveling north I saw a southbound dually pulling a large fifth wheel with the bedroom side fully extended! I flashed my lights but he never even looked in my direction and he was traveling what appeared to be close to the speed limit. I have always wondered what was the story/outcome of that situation.

RE: For those of you that travel off the interstate ..

If you have an Iphone get the Allstays App., simply fantastic. It tracks you real time on a map, also with satellite views, indicates campgrounds, fuel stops, all types of parks and on and on. We have used it on our last two trips and found it to be an absolute stress-reliever and just plain indespensable.

RE: It's love bug time again on the Gulf Coast. UGGH

My friends told me they were being studied at a University when they got out into the general population.
It happened in Lake Alfred, FL close to Winter Haven at the Experiment Station. They have move all the way over to Mississippi now. Their only natural enemy is the windshield.
They have been in Texas and La. since the 60's. Before the days of windshield washers on cars I remember my father having to get out and try to clean the bugs off the windshield with ditch water, can still remember the horrible smell drifting back into the car through the open windows (yea thats right no A/C either).

RE: I have about decided to sell my Truck and Travel trailer

I have had two fifth wheels and liked them but now love the DP for many reasons and more importantly the DW does too. To each his own but I don't ever plan on going back.

RE: Explorer computer re-flash in Florida? (or in the South}

Loren thanks for the help, you will recieve and e-mail shortly.
I was just getting ready to update this post as it appears finally have found a Ford dealership where hopefully this can get done. I actually talked to the tech. who has done this before and finally got a "yea, no problem". The parts dept. did tell me that Ford did now list the switch kit, but it now cost $250, ten times more than what it once sold for! Even he was shaking his head over that.
I will update with the dealer name, in case anyone else in Fl. is interested, once its done and I am towing down the road.

RE: Explorer computer re-flash in Florida? (or in the South}

Well the proper term actually should be reprogramming the computer for the use of the neutral tow kit and no most dealers know nothing about this for the Explorer because Ford no longer supplies the kit. When I have asked about their doing it with an owner installed kit so far all have responded basically no-way. have spent hours researching this issue and searching for one of the original kits to no avail.
Still looking for real help from someone who might know of a dealer who has done this basically anywhere in the South, have Explorer will travel.

Explorer computer re-flash in Florida? (or in the South}

I am looking for info. on dealers who have done this re-flash recently for the neutral tow switch modification to allow 4down towing. I have called 4 large Ford dealers in the Tampa area and all I get is "huh never heard of it". I have got a great 2007 Explorer that will make a nice toad if this can be done.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

RE: Need help in the Fredericksburg, VA area.

I have stayed at the KOA Fredricksburg twice in a large fifth wheel and found it to be more than adequate for both my rig and family. It is a little off the interstate but certainly not hard to find or get to. The staff was friendly, the sites I used required very little leveling and were very well shaded. We used it for a Civil War tour base and would definitly stay there again in our DP.

RE: Universal Sign Language: "You have a flat tire."

The one time I had flat on my fiver I got what I would think would be a universal signal from a truck driver i.e. he honked, I looked, he pointed back at my camper and gave me the throat slashing move, all the info. I needed to pull over.

RE: Gave up on Flying J ...

I use truck stop truck lines exclusively now, primarily to avoid the inconsiderate RV'rs who treat the RV lines like their private space. Washing windows or 1/2 the RV, taking out garbage or going into eat or shop and leaving the RV in place etc., all the while there are units stacking up behind them waiting!! Bringing in the card to be swiped ahead of time was never a big deal and now that I have the Flying J card it is even easier.
To me it's very easy, I am driving a large vehicle, go where it's easiest and convenient and the day I sweat a .05 difference in fuel cost is the day I put a for sale sign on the coach.

RE: Legoland Fl ! any suggestions ?

After living here for 13 years, I have to agree with the Fort Wilderness suggestion. It's a bit pricey, but well worth it, and I'm sure your kid is going to need to do Disney, too. Not too sure about Legoland, but I wouldn't expect a lot. Check their hours as I think they are closed on weekends and only open for a few hours during the weekdays. With your toad, you're probably about 30 minutes from Legoland an an hour or so from Clearwater, depending on traffic, if you stay at Fort Wilderness.
I don't understand your comment about Legoland and minimal hours. Legoland will have its grand opening on Oct. 15 and will be open 10-5 seven days aweek. According to local TV it has been a big hit with the kids who have previewed it.

RE: Why don't I see more electric bug zappers while camping?

Thermocell's work well, I have used one for years. I and all of my huniting buddies would not think of going into the woods in early spring or fall without a one. The odor given off by the burning pad is very slight after initial start and I have never heard of anyone complaining about the smell. As as been mentioned it will take at least a couple to protect say a patio area around a MH but to me that is a small price to pay for warding off mosquitos. Watch Bass Pro and similar sporting goods stores for sales on refills and you can stock up for a season at great savings. Thermocells can be found at Wal-marts, Ace, Tru-value etc. I even carry one during cold spells to use as a hand warmer, without the pad of course.
My daughter tail-gated at the USF football game this past Sat. in Tampa, my Thermocell made her very popular amoung her crowd.

RE: The Oasis at Zolfo Springs, Wauchula Fl

I happen to live in Wauchula, Fl. I have never stayed in either of the two questioned campgrounds but I have passed by them numerous times. Little Charlie Creek is just north of town in a rural setting and appears from the road to be well kept and I know in the winter there are very few empty places so it cannot be too bad. The Oasis is in downtown Zolfo Springs and is an older park with what appears to be tighter camping spots but it has been in business a long time and is another one that fills up in the winter time. Our local paper during the season reports on the activities at the local parks and there always seems to be something going on at all of them.
This area is becoming very popular for winter visitors enjoying our weather without the expense of the coastal areas. In Florida closer to the coast always means more money. Now we don't have the tourist activites of Orlando (the mouse) but we have moderate weather little traffic, a low crime rate, all the shopping you will ordinarily need and only an hour away from bigger metro areas if you need more shopping/entertainment and some of the best beaches in the state are only an hour away. Just off the top of my head I can think of 9 rvpark/campgrounds in a ten mile radius of Zolfo.
No I don't work for the chamber of commerce just live here, enjoy the area and know we get plenty of winter visitors so we can't be all bad.

I are one now!

Looks like I will shortly join the ranks of those who have moved from a towable to a diesel pusher as I am about to acquire a 1998 American Eagle
This is not the first piece of large "equipment" that I have owned but it is probably the most complex. I have been reading manuals for 2 days now and still feel somewhat lost. It is getting new tires and complete servicing by the dealer at this time so we should get it next week.
I have been pouring over the archives about this unit and have picked up a lot of items to look for from you other pusher owners. Since you can never have enough information, any of you Eagle owners or 8.3 Cummins owners have any words of wisdon I would appreciate your comments.
I am looking forward to being a part of this forum.
