RE: Lazydays sales

We purchased a new to us diesel pusher MH from them last July. It had quite a few things that we wanted fixed. Having bought from them before, we trusted that they would do any and all repairs we found, so we paid for it first, like you did. They took care of all our complaints.
We're fulltimers so we had all the time in the world and did not hurry them. We figured the longer we stayed there, the more chance for things to go wrong and the more things would be fixed on their dime. Plus we were getting a free campsite!
They give you a 30 day warranty that starts AFTER the rv first leaves the premises. So since we stayed there 6 weeks, then had an additional 30 days we had lots of time to find out what was wrong. When we left, they told us if anything went wrong within the 30 days, to call them and they would make note of it. If we couldn't get back to them within the 30 days, as long as everything was noted, they would fix it. And they did.
We ended up with a new $5000 refrigerator, new power cord, new slide awning cover, new slide gaskets on both slides, new $800 toilet, new tires, new water pump, new gaskets for both a/c units, new shower head, 6 new batteries, and many other things I can't even remember right now. We got quite a bit of service things done as well. Our slides were adjusted, the front door adjusted for squeaks, the stepwell cover worked on, tile replaced, kitchen chair fixed, backsplash in kitchen repaired, kitchen cabinet fixed, grout re-done, and much much more.
Dana Smith was our service advisor and she was great. Mike (can't remember his last name) was our technican and he was GREAT!
Anything we found wrong, they fixed, no questions asked. We were surprised that they replaced the very expensive refrigerator, but when we stayed in the coach for so long, we kept track of the temperatures. They attempted to fix it several times but still had too high temps. They finally pulled it out and found the box was defective and replaced the entire thing. We were a bit surprised about that, but it had never really worked right. Had we left, we wouldn't have found it out while under their 30 day warranty.
The key is to stay there until everything is done. I know it's not possible for everyone, but it was for us and we benefited greatly.
The biggest problem with Lazy Days, is they are SO BUSY. If you are living there, in your new coach, you are at the top of the list. If you leave the coach there, you get put to the bottom as emergencies come in. I think they work really hard on keeping everyone happy, but I saw first hand how things work when we had issues come up that took our repairman off someone else's rv to work on ours, since we just purchased and hadn't even left there yet.
SO.....now you need to get the attention of your service manager. They take complaints very seriously.
Don't bother dealing with the salesman. You should have been assigned a service manager. If you get no satisfaction there, contact Linda Roddy. She is the head of service and I'll bet she will take good care of you.
Despite having to spend so long there getting things taken care, of, we couldn't have been happier with the treatment we got. They worked very hard on making everything right. These are huge machines, with all the comforts of a house, so there are a lot of little things that can go wrong. Ours was an 03 diesel pusher that was very well taken care of, but still we found lots of things that needed addressing.
We've been very happy with it and wouldn't buy from any other dealer. No other dealer would give the kind of service we got.
I believe you've fallen through the cracks and you need to get someones attention.
Good luck!

RE: AVOID Sunshine Key RV Resort FL -(by Key West)

Sunshine Key is really two RV parks..the Winter one and the summer one. We were there the last couple of weeks in February and it was great. In April the snowbirds have all gone north and the place changes to a weekend party place. We cant wait to go back next winter! Friendly folks, lots of activities, and its centrat Keys location make it just right.
This is exactly right. We were there two weeks in January, great park, and none of what you described. We went back in March for 5 weeks. The park was half full of summer residents by the time we left and it was a changed place. What the OP described was exactly what we saw.
The OP was NOT being snobbish. It was way beyond kids having a good time and getting loud. There appear to be 4-5 families PER SITE.
In the winter you have snowbirds. Older folks, who are quiet, pick up their trash and respect others. Normally two people per site.
The "summer" people get special long term rates and can start moving their "compounds" into the sites April 15th. (although many moved in the week-end before)
They build little compounds/fortresses. They keep the site for 4-6 months,so bring everything they need. There is usually more than a dozen people per site. We saw large side by side refrigerators outside, full size stoves, washers/dryers. Summer residents can only spend Friday-Sunday there. SO...Monday, all is quiet until Friday.
There is trash all over, and we smelled a strong urine smell at one campsite. It was NOT like that in the winter.
I understand they destroyed the fitness center last summer and dumped a lot of stuff in the water by the marina.
They don't respect anyone else. They blocked the roads with their trailers and trucks, turned up their music very loud, speed around on their golf carts and pretty much made themselves at home. We did notice the manager was working on keeping the noise down after 11pm and a few people had been evicted by the time we left.
We had to change campsites after the summer residents started coming in because we were afraid we would be blocked in by the compounds. They use every square inch of their site to "build" on and if we hadn't moved, we would have not been able to get our motor home out.
There is a rule of 6 persons per site, and if it would be enforced, that would solve many of the issues. Many, if not most "compounds" had 4-5 pick-up trucks and 3-4 golf carts PER SITE. Many also had large boats. All had tent style canopies and the manager was trying to limit them to 2 per site....good luck with that. Most had decks, some were wooden, we saw one that was ceramic TILE! One had a swimming pool!
This is a LOVELY place in the winter.
From April 15 through October 15, they allow the summer residents to "live" there. We had heard about how it was in the summer, but until we saw it with our own eyes, we couldn't believe it.
It was NOT like that in the winter, and we spent 7 weeks there and LOVED it!
Sunshine Key is TWO different parks. Go in the Winter/stay home in the summer!
We can't wait to go back.... AFTER October 15th.
and NO, the OP is NOT a snob, and YES, people are breaking the written rules.

RE: What to use on roof

Use Dicor Lap sealant and then do it again every 6 months!!!
IF you want to do it ONCE, use Eternabond :)

Absolutely! If you do it now, you will never have to re-seal or worry about any roof leaks. I wish we had known about Eternabond on our first motorhome.

RE: Favorite Apps for Android and iPhone

I am a fulltimer, on the move -a lot!! I use Pro Weather Alert ( $ version)., It tracks me using phone gps, and sends weather alerts in a 50 mile radius of my location. Awesome. One of the very few apps that I paid for!!!!
Thanks for that tip...just bought the aap. Can't be too careful.
I also use Places...great for fulltimers in unfamiliar cities.

Time to upgrade my Droid phone. Any recommendations?

I am thinking about upgrading my Droid X smart phone from Verizon.
I want one with no keypad, and a large screen, like I have now.
I LOVE this phone, except for the poor battery life and the fact that I can't hear the person I'm talking to unless I use the speaker.
Since I rarely talk on it, that's not a big issue...but I use the computer functions a LOT..
Any suggestions? I don't want to pay the $199 for the Razr Maxx.

RE: Need help for correct tire pressure

You need to go to the web site for your tire manufacturer and download the inflation chart for the size tire you have. The inflation for the tire is dependent on the weight that tire has to support. Just make sure all the tires on the same axle are inflated to the pressure requiredfor the tire supporting the most weight. Yes, this requires that you get a weight for each corner of your vehicle. In the absence of four corner weighing you could air each up to the max pressure stated on the tire sidewall but that will give you a much rougher ride than necessary.
X2
but if you can't get a four corner weight, weigh each axel, and divide by two to get an estimate on each tire. Then go by the tire manufacture recommendations for the correct psi.

RE: Insurance Non Renewal notice. Need advice

You know it just amazes me how many members are willing to give requesters advise on how to "circumnavigate" Insurance requirements to get coverage. I have over 20 yrs. experience in the Property and Casualty Business and I cannot believe you expect a Co. to pay a claim when you "lied" about the exposure. Many say, make a Park Model out of it, how many of you have saw a Class A Park Model? The Ins. Co. prints the requirements for their coverage in the policy. Get outside those requirements and see how great their claims service will be. I have saw more claims denied because of "fraud" than any other reason. Do you want to be next? Also, if the Co. is required to pay on a claim it was not designed for, guess who's premium is raised to pay those claims.
I agree with the above comment. I also have years of experience as a claim adjuster.
It sounds to me like the agent at Amica may have advised you to keep info from the insurance company, and I believe that could cause you problems down the road, in the event of a claim.

RE: Insurance for full timers

We also use National Interstate. We have Fulltiemers coverage with $20,000 in personal contents coverage. I believe it comes with about $3000, which is not enough in my opinion.
One other thing is that FT coverage isn't quite like Homeowners coverage where your property is insured anywhere in the world. Your property must be in the Rv when damaged or stolen, from my understanding. So, our kayaks, if stolen while sitting outside under our patio may not be covered...just a thought.
Unfortunately USAA doesn't have specific Rv coverage for fulltimers. You'll have to go elsewhere...I wish they did because I know how they handle their claims (used to work there)
Good luck

RE: Getting ready to go full time!!! Where to winter?

We stayed in Zephyrhills Florida for around $400 a month. I kept up with the weather in Texas and AZ all last winter and it was too cold for me. Florida had an exceptionally warm winter this winter, but I believe it's normally warmer than Az or Tx and not as windy.

RE: Let's talk Mattress's

bedinabox
This is what we bought. We got the 11 inch thick one because I wanted to make sure my knees didn't hit when I turned over (it doesn't)
This memory foam does not leave indentions when you move (like Temperpedic)
It can be hot but we just put on a nice thick polyester mattress cover and that solves the problem.
We LOVE it!
