RE: Date is set ... sort of

In 1962 there were over 1200 miles of unpaved, gravel highway. During the last week of November, I saw no gravel. It was all snowpacked, along with fresh snow. Very smooth driving.
The road had many more curves that have been rerouted. As you drive the road today, you may notice places that veer off to the right or left where the "old road" was.

RE: Date is set ... sort of

We hope to get back on the road to Alaska from 37774 late May to mid June, if we can work out some medical issues also. If we make it, this will be our 4th round trip since 2003.
I first drove the Alaskan Hwy south bound the last week of November 1962. There have been a lot of changes.

RE: EcoBoost Ordered 1/21 Delivery 2/27!

I believe Ford projected build dates are the "week of", and they all start on a Monday. The actual build will hopefully happen sometime that week.
Congrats on a nice truck. Just took delivery of a '12 Lariat Screw, with Heavy Payload Pkg.

RE: 2012 F150 Heavy payload package

I just traded a 2011 Lariet SCrew for a 2012 Lariet SCrew with HDuty Payload package.
Both with the Ecoboost.
Don't have many miles on it yet, but the ride is very comparable. The suspension is indeed firmer, but the longer wheelbase compensates some. It feels better in cornering.
If you feel like driving over to Loudon, TN, you can drive it.
My last F250 SD was an '01 with the 7.3. It was a good truck but not a good driver.
I traded it for an '02 Duramax/Allison in June of '02. Best of both worlds, a very confortable driver with all the power needed. Took us to Alaska and back three times.
I no longer have any desire for a current production deisel and see very little advantage of an F250 gaser over the F150HD Ecoboost. I see many disadvantages to the F250.

RE: What a rip-off. Two-star park for a 6 star price

Luke refered to the economics of the short season early on in this thread and caught a snide remark or two.
Fact is that available land in the Anchorage Bowl is very limited at this time and commands a price that takes it out of the RV Park market. Sad, but true.
That is what happened to the Anchorage RV Park that is now a shopping area. I have never stayed there, but others said it was great.
I am fortunate to have access to the military camp grounds.

RE: New Ford - bad towing experience

I believe Mayo30 is on the right track. 44PSI max tire pressure does not seem like an LT tire. I suspect that you have a lot of sidewall flex.
