RE: RV Parks around Universal Studio in CA

We stayed in Orangeland RV Park... They had a shuttle to both Disneyland and Universal Studios. Would recommend the shuttle... someone else to do the driving, parking up front and the driver gave us all tips on how to best enjoy the park...

RE: wife worried about snakes

While in AZ this year, we did see one while on an ATV trip. It was stretched out on a dirt road in the sun and moving slow because it was cool out. I understand Cinnamon oil keeps them away and also garlic oil that's in some natural snake repellent. Of course, that kind of thing only works for a week before it has to be reapplied.

RE: Your Favorite Boondocking Pics

Looks great. Just where is that? Are there ATV trails there? We're always looking for new places to explore.

Heard this was a great place to ride. How's the camping? Room for a big rig?

RE: Coach batteries -- Alpenlite

Same setup in our 2006. Same issue. The batteries seemed to charge up but wouldn't stay there very long boondocking. Ours were 5 years old. Plus, soon after our inverter/converter gave up.
Sort answer. If you don't really use battery power, then don't bother changing them out.

Between the wheel chocks.. use when jacks?

Is there any reason one can't use the chocks between the wheels when raising or lowering the front legs? Does it bind the axles?
We like the extra stopping power while hooking up but wanted to make sure it is okay to do it that way

RE: HELP POWER ISSUE!! AND ITS COLD

It's a mystery. The repair shop is having trouble finding the issue also. Great... kind of think it's the converter/inverter - which they don't stock of course. Or at least not the size we have...
Don't know what the solution is... right now. But we have to have heat or head south and skip our trip with friends who were really looking forward to visiting the grand canyon.
Anybody interested in an Alpenlite? Cheap!!

RE: HELP POWER ISSUE!! AND ITS COLD

Checked the power pole. It's fine. There's just no power to the trailer. The breakers are fine... I tripped them all. There's no battery charging but the control panel is lit.. which it shouldn't be unless it was sensing power. But it's not charging.
SO, either there is a fuse somewhere or the converter/inverter has died suddenly.
Any ideas where to look for a fuse?

HELP POWER ISSUE!! AND ITS COLD

Everything running great... then all AC flipped off. Now, nothing AC... no charging of batteries either.. And it's going to be plenty cold here tonight... Must be a fuse but WHERE???
Granted, we had a couple electric heaters so must have overloaded the system but the breakers are fine and the pedestal is fine...
IDEAS!!!
thanks

Welding complete - thanks Lippert

Yes, I know Lippert's name is often MUD around here... but...we are happy.
After communicating with Lippert for a month, we finally made connections and had our 2006 Alpenlite reinforced at the shackles by their mobile welder. He also added a support beam for each axle. The repair was free!
Yesterday watched as the rig backed up with a very tight turn and those axles don't move a bit... only the tire flexs a bit or is pushed. It took him nearly 4 hrs. We had to remove the bellypan - which had to be cut to be removed. Putting it back on was a challenge. But now we are very familiar with the underside of the rig - and gorilla tape.
He did say that it was strange to have Dexter axles on a Lippert frame...and that some of our issue might be Alpenlite's with the installation of the airbags...and it was the first time he'd seen that combination.
We are just happy to mark that concern off our list for the time being - life is good!

suburban furnace.. suddenly not working.

We are boondocking and stuff keeps happening. The latest is the furnace fired up this am and then the heat disappeared. So, now it blows air... lites the burner very briefly, goes out and tries again. After about the third try - it shuts down. We blew out the tubes with an air compressor but nothing has changed. Any ideas?
It's cold and crowded here in Quartzsite! Should I hunt down an RV repair person?

RE: Mobile Suite

We really like them and would also give up the Alpenlite. But they are too heavy for our truck. Even the shortest one is 18,500...3000 lbs more than what we have..And there's that pesky non-commercial class A requirement here in Cali. But there's a dealer in Havasu and we always like to look.

RE: Monster Mashers....Going to Quartzite

Kathie... I had a Verizon aircard last year. Worked great everywhere we camped except for Havasu. This year I have an ATT smart phone which I was going to use for a hotspot. So far, I am pretty disappointed and wish I still had the aircard.
Hope this helps...

RE: Why do you go to AZ

We return each year to quad and enjoy the sunshine. Granted, we are among the youngest.. but have made great friends. It's more fun actually to just live in our 5er for a few months and avoid the normal routine at home. Our daughter takes care of the house and enjoys her alone time. Everybody wins.

replacing front storage door..

We have a new plastic tail gate... piece of junk. It broke open and of course, smashed the storage door when we made a turn. So, now we need a new front storage door. I assume they aren't that hard to find even though our rig has been an orphan for many years.
Any ideas where to look? We'll be in AZ this week. Would the Gambler have such a door?

hmm maybe this year we'll run into you all when we explore on the quads. Third rock from the left - right? Wait, there's nothing but rocks.
We're leaving this week but won't be in Q until right before the big tent.

RE: Camping with Guinea Pigs

We have four of them. But they stay home and are not campers. Guess it depends on the heat. They apparently have heat issues over the low 80s. Ours have lived through warmer temps, but usually we have a fan moving the air.

Calico Ghost town for new years.. boondocking available?

We've cancelled our reservations at the county park as they required we booked two sites since we have two tow rigs (we pull quads separately)... So, we are comfortable with boondocking if there is an area available...must be easily accessible to large 5er. Or I guess the KOA...
Ideas?
thanks
