RE: Towing boat with my Chev / AF 1150

Chime in here...you need a class 5 that's it, whatever brand. I'm in shock that they would make an extension for a stock hitch that long. I run a Titan class 5 and have 2 stingers...a 41 and a 48. For just the reasons of having different trailers with different tongue lengths and weights. You can't put a price on safety if you injure or kill someone. You have to use the correct rated safety chains also with all of the right rated connections. Some go wrong here, so read what it says on the parts...good luck!

RE: Arctic Fox Batteries

Wish I could afford the AGM's...well they told me that very few get the life out of batts as I have but when you use them year round it's better than letting them sit. The solar really helps when your not on shore power. It's a big plus. Glad you got it worked out.

RE: Arctic Fox Batteries

Hey wait just a second...my Interstates are wired together and I know how it works..how can two batts work independently of each other? If you know they are not..how do you know this? MMMM..well first do you know how to do it? You say you have solar too? There is a very specific way this all works. I have batts that are 6 years old and still run at 80 to 90 percent of their original power....I just had the Interstate people test them. If you really have an issue with how it is put together you might want to ask an Arctic Fox dealer. I'm not sure you know the wiring pattern of how dual batts work. Do you have the solar panel indicator next to your generator and tank level indicator? Does your panel show a yellow charge light during a sunny day? Just trying to say if it is not right...hooked up that is, well I can help you figure this out. I can show you the exact way it should be...let me know...Kev

RE: So long AF811 Hello AF 1140

Here is my reasons....the floor plan of the 1150 is more roomy...there is a nice place to sit in front of the wardrobe closet to get dressed. The Vent hood in the kitchen is not vented to the outside of the TC in the 1140 (a very important one if you cook a lot) and the storage behind it is in a weird place and hard to get to. There are some pluses to the 1140...they have more storage and a bigger fridge. There are more reasons for having mine built. I had a list of add on's...here are a few. I have dual pane windows, 100 watt solar(never have one with out ever again) auto scanning satellite dish, carpet kit, outboard lights on the left and right, no graphics (love that no pealing sticker thing)...so there is a few. They are great TC's either way.

RE: Finally got an Arctic Fox 1150

Your going to like the space...Wet or dry bath? They both are a little tight but when the slide is open...it's great!

RE: arctic fox generators

You could just use the space to store it and just set it on the ground when needed. This would keep things real nice and quiet since you wouldn't have any vibration transferring to the TC. My Camp power is very noticeable both in sound and vibration. If I had to do it again....it wouldn't be the way it is now for sure.

RE: Okay, I was wrong....bought a dually

Did anyone say if it was a gasser or a diesel? That too can be another consideration but the rig looks great...you'll never go back.

RE: arctic fox generators

Pretty much all Arctic Fox campers have a 2500 Onan Camp Power but if I were you, look into Honda. There is a LPG conversion kit so you can run gas or LPG, they are the most quiet of all.

Thanks ISBRAM....just knew someone was on the same page ...can I ask what you had to do for the prep and the cost of the project? Would you recommend it as an alternative to paint?

RE: White particles in water faucet

Yep I agree with the calcification, have you ever inspected the rod or flushed the hot water tank? Start there come back and tell us what you find in the bottom of that tank...It will surprise you!!!

RE: Happijac rust! (pics)

Yep... mine look worse than that now...look at the tear down link and you could have them stripped an re-done. I'm thinking of having mine done in LINEX... stuff is tuff as nails....and they could do white if I'm not mistaken. The front edges have just been pelted from road rocks...going to look into that right now. Has any one ever done that yet???

RE: One More Arctic Fox Question

ok...ok...Yeah I'm not counting all 120v inside and outside, but we are talking 12v plugs inside. Just 1 in my 1150 in the TV cabnet... again wish I had more in some other locations. If I had known this before I had it built ...there would be others.

RE: Happijac lubrication

Some threads never die and to see someone using the pics and info is what makes this a good source of knowledge for all of us...I'm not an expert, just someone who wants to know why and how stuff works. If it fails can you fix it? Someone out there has the same issues so share the experience.

RE: One More Arctic Fox Question

Usually the battery kill switch is under the sink area with a big red key. My 1150 has only one in the TV compartment. Wish I had a couple more. Funny I have seven 120v through out.

RE: What are your Fav mirrors on a 2nd Gen Dodge?

Go to ebay, type in " 97 dodge tow mirrors" scroll down to the ones that say rokucreaton in red. Take a look at the pictures.... this style has a pigtail and small base. The ones you are showing are 03 or newer with a large base and the small white plug attached to the base. This can be tricky since you have an 97 3500. You have to be very specific. Again you would need the pigtail style with a small base...they are very specific as to what fits what years and what models. They change for 98-02 and again and again.. Hope this helps...These mirrors are nice and those snap on ones...don't do it!
