RE: Black Max Honda Generator Died

He was told it needed "a whole new alternator". Not a new Honda engine.

RE: Air Bag Lift

Air bags don't offer that much lift. How much are you looking for? I think 3 or 4 inches would be about it at maximum inflation.

RE: Black Max Honda Generator Died

$1,000 dollars for a 7,000 watt generator means you bought a cheap one. I wouldn't fix it. Those types of generators are basically disposable. Get the Honda or a Yamaha.

RE: First time traveling long distance

Turn the fridge to auto. When you're plugged in it will run on electric. When you are driving it will run on propane. They are designed this way. The manual of most RV's tells you to do it this way.
I would try to find campgrounds instead of WalMart. It's much more relaxing and you can plug in to electric, water, sewer, etc.
I used to be a truck driver. I would drive the maximum allowed 10 hours per day. At the end of the day you are tired. Go 8 hours each day if you want but don't feel bad if you want to drop back to 6. It will be a more enjoyable trip.

RE: Air Bags Installation Review/ and looking for opinions on WD

I must agree that adding weight to the truck will not raise the tire pressure. That has to be due to heat or an inaccurate tire gauge.
WDH and air bags are really for 2 different purposes and it sounds like you need both. I would weigh the rig fully loaded with fuel, people, food, firewood, everything. I would bet you are over the truck's GVWR. That isn't necessarily a big deal but it's something to be aware of. The more important question is are you over the weight rating of your tires?

RE: Electric hookup?

Adapters are always a good idea. You can get an adapter to allow your trailer's 30 amp plug to connect to a 50 amp and an adapter to connect to a 20 amp. Both are useful from time to time. It's usually best to connect your 30 amp plug to a 30 amp outlet if at all possible. If you connect to a 20 you may have trouble with the breaker tripping if you use too many big draw loads in the camper at the same time. Some people like to hook to the 50 because it's often less worn out and makes a better connection.

RE: AC/DC Frame Grounding. Need help.

I don't think you're using the terminology correctly. You keep saying "negative buss" this can only mean the DC side. There is no "negative" on the AC side. The AC side has hot (black), neutral (white), and ground (green or bare). Ground (green) should be connected to the frame, neutral (white) should not.
On the DC side, the negative should be connected to the frame. The positive should not.

RE: Adding a extra battery

You can add the 4th different battery but you're kind of creating a mess. They batteries won't likely charge and discharge evenly. Overall their life will be shortened. When they do die I would strongly recommend you replace them all with a perfectly matched set. 4 6v golf cart batteries in 2 strings of 2 would be best.

RE: Industrial Receiver Hitch

If you bought the truck new from a dealer it should have come with an adapter. If it didn't they owe you own. If you bought used I guess you'll have to buy the adapter yourself.

RE: Class C vs Class B+

B+, like "super C" is just marketing. If the vehicle in question left the factor as a complete van then the RV it is turned into is a class B.
If the vehicle left the factory as a cut-away chassis with no rear walls or roof then the RV it is turned into is a class C.
Anything else is just marketing hype.

You're getting 19 mpg towing a trailer???!!!
Quit while you're ahead. It doesn't get any better. Save your money on "add ons".

RE: Truck camper for shortbed

With that particular truck your choices of TC are very very limited. A 1500 short bed really isn't the right truck for a TC. I highly doubt you will find one with a toilet and shower that will work with that truck. You will most likely need to add airbags, sway bars, heavy duty shocks, heavy duty tires, etc. to make even the smallest camper work.
I once carried a Palomino 8' pop-up camper in a 1500 short bed. It was overweight before I added any gear or people to it.

Onan may be expensive but they are good generators. I would stay away from Generac, the bottom of the generator barrel.

RE: Color Code and Solar Install

RV's are wired with the white wire grounded and the black hot or positive because that is what's required by the NEC. I don't know how black negative and red positive got started many many years ago but it does not meet the electrical code. That's why RV manufacturers won't "change".
The NEC requires that the grounded conductor be white. This does not matter if it's carrying AC or DC. It doesn't matter the voltage. It doesn't matter if it's in an RV or a house. If it's grounded, it had better be white.
Any color except green or white if fine to use for the positive (ungrounded) conductor. You can use yellow for sunlight if you want. Or use red because that's the "normal" 12v positive color. It doesn't matter.

RE: 2011 Chev Dually Tire Pressure

Look up the load inflation table for your tires. Weigh your axles. Inflate your tires accordingly. You will have it perfect. The sticker on the door has no idea how much weight you are carrying.

RE: See maintenance work accordingly to VIN number

Nothing will tell you what random independent mechanics or shade tree mechanics may have done over the years. DIY vehicle owners don't report their repairs and maintenance to a database either.
So, is there a website to see all the maintenance? No.

Don't have any pics of those sites. Avoid #54 at all costs. It's a steep uphill back-in from a hairpin turn.

RE: 6V Battery Charging & Converter

Chargers, minders, monitors, etc. aren't any different for 2 6v batts. than for 12v. Your 2 6v batteries together make up a 12v battery so everything works the same. Just treat the 2 as 1 large 12v battery.
If your converter (charger) does not have 3 stage charging then yes, an upgrade would be a great idea. What make and model converter do you have?

RE: generator question

If the generator puts out the standard 120v 60 HZ AC and has an appropriate outlet then yes, plug the trailer in.
I'm not familiar with a Hyundai generator.
