Time for a break

I'm approaching 10 years as a member of RV.Net
I've had 4 different tow vehicles and 3 trailers in that time.
I've learned a lot and hopefully the knowledge I've shared has helped some folks.
This place just isn't what it used to be though. Too many trolls and dumbasses these days.
Its become difficult to have a civil discussion. Topics turn into a pissing match at the drop of a hat.
I'm not sure its worth my time anymore.
I may be back, but I kind of doubt it.
Good luck fellas.

RE: Oil changes - DIESEL ONLY

I use Mobil Delvac conventional. A couple times per year they run a rebate for $3 per gallon. After rebate the oil is about $8 per gallon.
My Cummins took 3 gallons and a $10 filter for about $35 a change.
My Dmax takes 10qts and a $10 filter for about $30 per change.

RE: 2012 Chevy or GMC wirh power mirrors

On my truck, the switch that controls which mirror you're adjusting is lit. The switch that controls the direction you're moving the mirror is not.

RE: Ford 6.7 debacle just gets crazier

I wonder what occurrence of failures GM is experiencing (if any) with the same HPFP on the Duramax. Anyone know?
I don't recall reading about any HPFP failures on either of the Dmax forums I'm a member at.
But,I don't read those forums every day so its possible I missed something.

RE: GM HD 3500 Dually with 6.0 gas engine?

who would want to put up with that when you can get a gasser to scream at 4000RPM and churning out 7MPG.
I'd rather hear a 6.0 "scream" at 4000 than my Dmax and its grade braking at the same RPM.

RE: And I whined about the price of engine oil

It's not just Ford. GMC is requiring this new 'grade' of oil (Dexos) that is more expensive than some full synthetics. They say that it is because of the 'direct injection' fuel injection system.
Dexos is nothing special. Numerous brands of synthetic meet the spec.

RE: Built in brake controller

I have it in an 08 Chevy D/A and it's way better than the Prodigy it replaced.
Another vote for better than the Prodigy it replaced.

RE: Yikes, the price of engine oil

People gripe and moan about the cost of oil,but it sure doesn't slow down many of the 3000 mile oil changers.
I know,I know...cheap insurance.:R

RE: water in fuel light

Never saw the WIF light in almost 5 years of driving my '07 Cummins, never had any water when I changed the fuel filter either.
No light in my '11 Dmax either. I'm a long ways from changing the filter on it yet.

RE: Mt. Rushmore during the first week of April

Are you sure you want to drive all that way just for Rushmore?
Of course we'd see more than Rushmore. I didn't think it was necessary to list every place we'd like to visit while we were in the area.
We'll probably be in the area 3-4 days.

Mt. Rushmore during the first week of April

Planning a trip to Mt. Rushmore this year. Thinking the first week of April for spring break.
Thoughts on this time frame?

RE: Speed limited Suburban 8.1l?

I know Superchips and Hypertech both make programmers that remove or raise the geverned speed.
I'm sure there are other as well.

RE: Back seats of crew cabs

I don't know where the one poster got his info about the GMC/Chev crew cab being small and cramped, because it ain't so
X2
The back seat in my current GMC Crew is night and day from my previous 04 Dodge Rm Quad Cab. My kids definitely have more room back there
My brother is 6'5" and weighs about 330. He rides in the back seat of my truck all the time. He has never complained about a lack of room.
He couldn't even have gotten in the back seat of my '07 Ram QC.

RE: Exhaust brake

I installed a Pacbrake PRXB on my '07 Ram. I really liked the Pacbrake. It worked better than the exhaust brake AND the grade braking on my current Dmax.
The air compressor that ran the brake was very handy as well. The Pacbrake comes with a bag full of air accessories to use with the compressor.
Another benefit to an exhaust brake is the decreased warm up time on the engine. Using the EB in the winter cut the warm up time by probably 50%
High idle and the EB really got things warm in a hurry.

RE: Regrets owning a 350/3500?

Just wondering how many regret buying a 1 ton vs the 3/4 ton and why?
After I bought my '07 Ram 3500 SRW I regretted not getting the 2500. Even with 2000lbs of pin weight, generator, dog, firewood, etc, in the bed,the 3500 SRW didn't ride on the overloads. When I hit rough sections of road,it would slap off the overloads and the ride sucked.
I had to buy airbags to help the slapping and improve the ride. In that case I payed about $400 more for the 3500 SRW and then had to pay another $250 for the air bags.
I could have saved the $400 and bought a 2500. Added air bags if needed, which isn't likely because I wouldn't have had the issue with the overloads.
I most likely would have been $650 ahead by buying the 2500.
In addition,Washington state rounds the registered weight up to the nearest even thousand lbs. I would have had a registered 10,000lb GVWR on the 2500 compared to the factory 10,100lb GVWR on the 3500 SRW.
If I went back to '07 and bought the Ram again,no doubt it would be the 2500.

RE: Bad day to be a white CC Duramax

Why is he parting it out?
Because the only thing worth anything is the engine. The truck has 200K on it and has been beaten unmercifully for the ten years he has owned it. Its a real POS.
He thinks he'll make more money parting it rather than selling it or trying to trade it on a new truck.

RE: I know its only sheet metal...

Got a couple inches of snow the last two days and the typical "I've got 4WD so the laws of physics don't apply to me crowd is out in force in Seattle".
2011 Chevrolet 2500HD LTZ 4x4 CCLB Duramax/Allison
hehe :)
Seriously, I'm glad nobody was hurt. Hope the repairs are invisible (but I know you'll always be able to see 'em).
I have no problems with anyone owning a 4x4. I have problems when they drive like idiots.

RE: I know its only sheet metal...

Glad to hear no one was hurt. How old was the driver that hit you? I don't know what i would do in that situation? Obviously i wouldn't want anyone to be hurt but then when i see the damage on my truck i would want to squeeze his head like a grape!!!! Talk about having mixed emotions!!:M
The driver was probably my age (late 30s). He didn't even want to get out of the car. He made his wife handle the exchange of info.
