That was very helpful, Teach.
I tow a 17' TT, weighs about 3200, with my stuff, closer to 4,000.
Have a weight distribution, anti-sway hitch, and electric brakes on the trailer. I had an Astro years ago, and remember the brakes always felt mushy. Most of my trips will be short, under 100 miles, so after reading all these comments, I think I'll be fine.
If the van doesn't come with an auxiliary transmission cooler, I have one here I can install.
On a side note, the van is loaded with all kinds of "stuff", because it was owned by the U.S. government, and used for surveillance. It has a 2" receiver hitch on it. I'm betting they beefed up the rear end due to the added weight of all their equipment. Won't know for sure until I have my hot little hands on it. I'll use it as a cargo van, after I remove everything. (and to go camping...)

Towing capacity of an Astrovan with 4.3L six?
I'm thinking of buying a used Astrovan. It has the 4.3L V-6 engine. Does anyone know it's towing capacity? I'm guessing 5,000 pounds.
