RE: What games do you reccomend?

One not mentioned is a card game called "Five Crowns".
Easy to learn and all ages can play it.
Available at Barnes & Noble or toy stores. (under $10)

RE: Any suggestions on selling RV

I've used Craig's list and Ebay. Post lots of pictures and a very thorough description.
I add a disclaimer on CL: "Weirdos and spam artists, don't waste my time!"
If time allows, I'd suggest CL for two weeks, then post it on Ebay.
There's no fee if it sells via CL.
Good luck!

RE: RV vs vacation home?

I do both - live in a lake front home, with my RV in the driveway.
My neighbors come in after Memorial Day and leave around Labor Day.
Great fishing here, but I take the camper to other fishing lakes.
If only I could tow the camper and my boat at the same time!
Only glitch has been storm Alfred dropped a tree branch through my RV's roof!
I liked the comments about finding a piece of land near a lake to park your camper....

RE: Winterizing

Dave,
If the nighttime temps are going to be in the low 20's you have to be concerned. (Not just briefly, but sustained.)
Higher than that, your coach should prevent any freeze ups.
Opening the cabinet doors allows the heat to get at the piping.
Good luck,
Jeff

RE: Using a Dutch Oven as a pressure cooker

If you use your dutch oven to fry, and try to use the cover, be careful removing the lid. Steam and/or hot oil can escape as you lift the cover, causing you to get a nasty burn.
I fry donuts, etc all the time in a DO, learned the hard way not to put the cover on.
Take care.

RE: Traveling with your coleman stove full of fuel?

The propane adapters for use with the white gas stove work great! Walmart has them for around $18. Make sure the spring that attaches it is secure, so it doesn't disconnect while in use.
I use both all of the time.
You can get an adapter hose so the bottle can be left on the ground, or use the larger tanks, which come in 5, 11, and 20 pound sizes.

RE: Can u mix rv anti-freeze and windshield fluid?

mits22 stated: "Don't forget that methanol is also highly corrosive. It may be very hard to get it out of the fresh water system, so hard, it may require a re-plumb. "
Not true. Methanol is not corrosive, and is miscible in water. While I wouldn't want it in my water system, a lot of flushing with clean water will get rid of it. No need to re-plumb.
If you screw up and add either auto antifreeze or windshield washer fluid to your RV,just flush with lots of water and you'll be fine.
It's easy to do now that all the colors of the antifreezes are similar.

RE: Dry camping at the BigE in Springfield, MA

They only have so many spaces, first come first served. I'd get there early for ease of in and out. But unless you're trying to get in on a Saturday or Sunday, it's not normally that crowded.
They charge you $20 per space, so if you use two spaces, either for a tow vehicle or slideouts, you'll pay extra.
You can go back and forth to your camper by just having your hand stamped.
Enjoy your visit!

RE: Campgrounds near Springfield, MA

The bad news is I live in the area, and can't think of one big rig friendly CG. Most have issues, and I'd hate to pick one and you're not happy with it. Finding 50 amps, S/W/E and a drive through is tough. Forget WiFi that works.
The good news is the Big E has an area to camp and park your MH. I know the venders get water and electric, I'm not sure about visitors.
Enjoy your stay!

RE: When to winterize in New England

To answer your post, most CGs close around mid-October.
So I winterize some time after Columbus Day or October 15th.
I'm in the Springfield, Mass area.

RE: Peters Pond Park, Sandwich, MA, being sued

Sleazy outfit, I've stayed at one of their "resorts", and was not happy.
Talked to them at camping shows, but they don't get it.
Peter's Pond was a great cg until they bought it. Now I won't go there.
Here in Massachusetts, they'll lose this case big time if it goes to trial. They'd be smart to settle now. Can only hope they learn a lesson.

RE: cape cod fishing

Dennisport might bang you with a check for a license. Under 16 does not need one, but if you're with them, I'd get one. The ocean license is cheap or free on-line, but you need a normal license first.
I got it free but had to shell out $1.50 for the online "ease of use".
Note that if you have one from a different state, you should be covered.
The quay at the far side of the Dennis town beach is great fun for the kids to fish from. I remember catching a lot of sea robins with my kids, they got a charge out of the noise the fish makes.
Have a good trip!

RE: Camping stove question

If you decide on propane, they sell 5 pound and 11 pound tanks. With the adapter hose, they last a long time versus the 1 pound bottles.
Many hardware stores carry them.
I use both gas and propane to cook with, and have every product Coleman makes. I use the picnic table and set up on that, and never cook inside my TT.

RE: Camping stove question

Go with a two burner stove, more choices when cooking, and more room.
If you get a Coleman dual fuel stove, only burn Coleman fuel, and it'll last forever. The additives in unleaded fuel clog up the generators.
Pick up a spare generator, and store it in the stove with the wrench. I find them in the dollar stores all the time.
You can pick up an adapter that'll let you run the white gas stove off of propane bottles or tanks. (under $20 at Walmart) You need an adapter hose to use the tanks, but it screws on just like the bottle. Then you'd have the best of both worlds!
IMHO, the Coleman propane stoves don't put out enough heat. Century-Primus are much better. Ozark Trail (Walmart) are junk.
But the propane models are slimmer than the gas models.
Good luck!

You made the right choice, I like Peter's Pond more than Bourne.
The kids will, too. Bring a fish pole!

RE: Towing capacity of an Astrovan with 4.3L six?

That was very helpful, Teach.
I tow a 17' TT, weighs about 3200, with my stuff, closer to 4,000.
Have a weight distribution, anti-sway hitch, and electric brakes on the trailer. I had an Astro years ago, and remember the brakes always felt mushy. Most of my trips will be short, under 100 miles, so after reading all these comments, I think I'll be fine.
If the van doesn't come with an auxiliary transmission cooler, I have one here I can install.
On a side note, the van is loaded with all kinds of "stuff", because it was owned by the U.S. government, and used for surveillance. It has a 2" receiver hitch on it. I'm betting they beefed up the rear end due to the added weight of all their equipment. Won't know for sure until I have my hot little hands on it. I'll use it as a cargo van, after I remove everything. (and to go camping...)
