Onan Microlite 4000 air filter discontinued?

Onan Microlite 4000 air filter Original Part # is (140-2852)
Trailer place told me today that Onan discontinued this filter and they do not offer an alternate. They cleaned the old filter and put it back in. What gives? Anyone else run into this problem with Onan?
I thought they would stand behind their products and continue to offer parts.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Any alternate supplier or part number?
Would appreciate any feedback on this as I would like to have a clean filter and keep the genny in good running condition for a few more years.

Class C camping in the Smokies

Would appreciate any tips for good places to camp in and about the Smokies. The DW and I are camping there for the first time in 30 years and the kids are raised. Just the two of us.
In early May timeframe will we have any problems getting a camp site without reservations? We do not know exactly when we will be there so it is hard to reserve in advance. Any good camping on water or other nice spots?
Our Class C is 24' and we like to have electric but can live without it for several days if need be.

Going to Smokies from Western KY

After we visit our niece in Wickliffe, KY we are going to head for the Smokies for a good part of our road trip/vacation. Just the DW and myself... no kids.....
Any suggestions for best routes and things to see and do along the way? We love visiting historic sites and things. Figure we might drop down from KY into TN fairly quickly and travel across TN.
Your thoughts?

Ford E350 Super at 50,000 miles... should I replace brakes?

I have not had any braking issues but figure I may be pushing my luck if I do not have the brakes checked and replaced not that I have over 50,000 miles on the Motorhome. I think my 1999 Coachman has front disc brakes and rear drums.
Any other things I should have checked at the 50,000 mile range?
Thanks. John S

Smokies in early May.. a good time ??

My DW and I are retired and like to visit nice spots in our Class C 24' without a toad...
Thinking of going to the Smokies this year to see if we can enjoy the beauty of nature in the spring and find some great campsites... We like rustic spots and would love to camp by or on water if good sites are available.
We tour around using our small Class C and love to visit old estates, homes, historical sites, etc...
Any recommendations from some folks who know and love the Smokey mountain regions?
Thanks, John S

RE: how well does dash mount gps work in class c??

The newer Garmin units that have very sensitive antennas do not have a problem. I put mine on the doghouse at times to reduce the problem of road light glare and it still works fine. Other times I may put it on the drivers side window.

RE: Chicago Bypass

You can take ANY ROUTE.... just come thru Chicago at night....
Avoid the rush hours that run from 5 AM till 10 AM and 3 PM till 8 PM.....
Do not go through the downtown area.... if you can avoid it.
Take 294 South or 355 South down to 80..... and then head East.

Upholstery is wearing out... How to replace?

The seats in our breakfast nook of our Class C are getting pretty bad from all the sliding in and out over the past 10 years.
We are ready to replace the upholstery but need to find the right/best fabric for recovering them... My DW and I do not know what type of fabric we should get to replace them.. Figure that an upholsterer can do the job but do not want to get some fabric that will not wear well or cleanup after the grandkids, etc...
Is there a good place to look for or buy replacement covering material for RV's? Should we avoid cotton fabrics in favor of polyester and rayon? Or are there better fabrics to get?
Hope some of you folks with some experience in this area can give us some good tips. We figure we will have a local upholstery shop do the work as we are not good at doing something like this but finding the right fabric is important.
The seat cushions also lie flat when we convert the nook to a bed.
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions..

RE: Covered bridge fest

Yes, we are planning on going to the Covered Bridge festival this year. Has been about 20 years since we went. Will be staying at the Covered Bridge Campground in Rockville.
Some of our kids will be joining us as well as a couple of grandkids... We have great memories of our prior trips but expect it to be much more commercialized now.... More flea market type vendors and fewer crafts..... Sad to say.....:(
Hope they still have the Bean soup in the kettles, the elephant ears and the pork sandwiches, etc....... :)
Will be there on 10/14 and 10/15.

RE: Squeeky table.... how to stop it?

The milk jug wedges sounds like a clever solution. Will give it a try.. Thanks... Prefer to keep the table in the up position if we can as it is more convenient for when we stop or when someone wants to sit in the nook area, etc... Thanks again for the suggestions.... John S.

Squeeky table.... how to stop it?

Our drop down table in our Class C seems to always squeek when we are driving and it can be quite annoying. I drop it down when I cannot stand it anymore but this is inconvenient.
I did spray the two bayonet like metal tabs that slide into the wall brackets with silicone spray and this helped for awhile but it is not a permanent solution.
I was wondering if anyone has come up with some better ways to stop the table squeek problem?
I was thinking that something like some thin silicone type sleeves that could fit over the table tabs and into the wall brackets would be a possible solution. Wonder if anyone makes anything like that?
What suggestsions are out there? Appreciate any and all suggestions.

RE: Covered Bridge Festival camping Indiana - what is best?

Looks like state parks with electric are filled.. Will have to checkout private.
Crulers sound great.. Remember some great bean soup there also at Rockville square..
What goodies do others like in the area?
