RE: When is camping rates to high?

What bugs me is the $7 to $8 reservation fee that gets added to USFS and western State Park fees. Not a big deal if you're staying a week, but for one-night stays it's crazy to pay $8 to reserve a $18 site. I thought automated booking systems should be efficient? At least Ticketmaster (Reserve America) makes a profit.

RE: Contamination Of LP Excess Flow Check Valves

Hopefully I can add a tiny bit here:
Doing a little research on this issue the other day, at least one brand had these numbers for max flow of different color connectors:
Black ACME QCC nut 100,000 BTU/hr
Green ACME QCC nut 200,000 BTU/hr
Red ACME QCC nut 450,000 BTU/hr
When I first got my trailer in 2002 the supplied green connectors failed within 2 years- exactly as Roger described up 2 posts. The replacement Camco hoses have been fine for the last 7 years.
Weber Q bbq's regulator also has an excess flow check valve that needs pressure for several minutes before fully opening. It's a big pain so I just leave my tank turned on.

RE: Furnace Cycling Normal?

I'm sure this is obvious- but the slightly lower voltage when running off batteries vs. the converter will make the fan spin slower, resulting in higher temps. I vote for the cause being an airflow restriction. When my trailer was delivered I had the exact same problem and determined that the return air was restricted. After cutting a bigger hole the problem went away and hasn't returned in 9 years.

RE: I love the state of Washington!

Yes, I was aware that Kalaloch is available for reservations, but it's filled up. I wasn't sure if that's representative of the popularity of the area, this specific campground, or just because it's the only reservable NPS campground so everyone who wants a confirmed reservation tries for it.
I'm narrowing in on the NPS Hoh, WA state park Bogachiel, private Hoh River Resort, and Hard Rain Cafe Campground. They're all near the Hoh hiking trails.

RE: I love the state of Washington!

Thanks for all the great Washington ideas. Looks like our 11 day window is going to leave us with a list of things to do next time...
We're planning 4 nights camping somewhere near Forks, then 3 nights hoteling in Victoria BC, finally 2 nights camping somewhere near the Bainbridge or Bremerton ferry for a day trip to Seattle.
Question on the National and State park campgrounds on the Olympic Peninsula. Most are first-come. We will be arriving in the Forks area on Tuesday 8/16 and in the Poulsbo or Bremerton area on the next Tuesday 8/23. I'd prefer public campgrounds to RV parks but don't want to find them all filled up. Can you locals suggest whether I have anything to worry about? Our trailer is only 18' so size isn't a problem, just space availability.
Thanks,
