RE: Ninth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B9) May 18-20, 2012

One of the best ideas for the Rally was having those SUBS that we could grab and go! Having the rest of those sandwiches was fabulous!!! No need to visit the grocery store! The dinner Saturday night was Superior - the FOOD is paramount to Rally attendees! Also I really appreciated all the participants that helped with clean up and handling the banners, trash and running around doing the miscellaneous crummy stuff that is a drudge but always part of a large gathering. Can't believe I escaped that detail. You guys did a fantastic job on the planning and execution of the Program. Loved the Hypnotist - think that will be an entertainment people will remember forever! For all you gamblers and history buffs, we have a brand new casino that opens for the first time tonight. It's called the Horseshoe Casino and is located in downtown Cleveland on Public Square. They took an old vacant department store that was built in the 1930's and remodeled it keeping the decor of the 30's. This building was featured as a backdrop for the movie classic "A Christmas Story". The building is a Cleveland landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. You can read about it here

The weatherman is promising nice weather for the weekend, but here in Cleveland we have a saying - "If you don't like the weather, stick around 5 minutes".

Carolyn and I will arrive Thursday evening also. She's going to stay overnight so I'll get the rig set up for her. I have to leave and then return Friday after I close the office for the weekend. I hope the mosquitoes aren't too bad this year. I remember how bad I got bit at the NY rally a couple of years ago. Better bring bug repellant to keep them at bay - watch me forget to bring some.

I definitely want one of those.

RE: Bilstein steering stabilizer

I put one on my 2003 PW that was on a Dodge chassis and I did not notice any difference.

RE: Now this is a true off-road, boondocking machine!!

That is too cool - I want one.

RE: Any Solar Oven Owners Out There?

This is a great addition to your survival items. I've been wanting one for several years now but funds have been kind of tight. I've also played with the idea of making one, but never got around to doing that. This unit from Sun Oven looks like a nicely made one and reasonably priced. Thanks for the recommendation.

RE: The Class B makes a great Bug Out RV

I read your article and really loved it. I've owned a class B or camper van for most of my adult life and they do make a great BORV. However, a large Truck Camper, in my opinion, is the way to go for versatility and ruggedness. That will probably be my next RV.

RE: Airstream Avenue Suite

That Avenue looks like a nice sleek touring vehicle. I'd like to see it up close.

RT & PW always come in later.

RE: Class B compared to Truck Camper

I spend a lot of time in the woods boondocking so I'd like to move away from a B and into a TC for all the obvious reasons. If I were fulltiming, I wouldn't want it to be in a B but if it had to be a B, then I'd choose a late model RT 210P since it has so much living and storage space both inside and out. Of course then I'd also have to have a Jeep Wrangler to tow so I could use it for additional storage and for all the side trips and store runs I'd have to make.

Instead of critizing someone's nomination Vapoorboy, why don't you step up and make a nomination of your own?

RE: unstable ROADTREK 210

I had a 2006 RT 210P and kept about 68 psi front and 80 psi rear. Never had a problem - in fact it handled extremely well.

Nick, if you win, you know I'm here to help you with this one - whatever you need done, you can count on me. If someone else still wants to nominate a site and you win, I'm still here to help out with soliciting donation money. Jim

RE: 2011 Eighth Annual RV.net Class B Rally (B8)

Michael, Kudos to you and the rest of the planning committee for controlling the costs and leaving B9 with a nice head start. Great Job.
