RE: 1st trip to Chiropractor...Scared the snot out of me

A local chiropractor with a well known sense of humor that was always pulling pranks etc. told one of his patients after a quick snap: “Quick, move your legs! Oh, thank goodness you’re OK”. The patient laughed at the joke and was leaving the office when she suddenly collapsed in the hallway. When everyone quickly ran to her aid, including the chiropractor, she jumped up and told the “doc”. Gotcha back!

Go to youtube.com and search how to replace slide topper awning. The videos will describe how to lock your roller tube. Best to use two people.

RE: Retiring!

Retirement is an adjustment, quick for some (me) longer for others. Just make sure that retirement does not equate to doing nothing. If you can not entertain yourself by traveling, reading, or other hobbies, volunteer at a hospital or something. If your health permits it, take a long walk everyday and enjoy what you see. Retirement provides freedom to choose what you do.

RE: Driving an RV in High Winds!!

Here is an example of what winds can do.
I'm pretty sure that's not a wind gust rollover...looks more like a sway flip. The police cruiser chasing him is pushing 70 and you can see the trailer start to sway just before it goes over. Trees in the vid aren't moving either.
Good example of too much speed and not enough brains, though.
Check the exhaust at the end of the video. Looks like some wind.

RE: NCAA basketball

That Kentucky team was a great team with great players. I am sure that the next round of great players are lining up to join Kentucky's next great team. No doubt that all the previous (2012 championship) players are wealthy next year in the pros.
Great job BLUE!

RE: SCAMS

There are a great number of people out there that are amazingly honest and concerned about those around them. They expect everyone else to live with the same morals and concern for others that they have. They are not ignorant, they are not taking zero reponsibility, they are not gullible, they are trusting and honest. Many times that makes them an easy target for sales people that do not share those qualities.
It is unfortunate that they must heed the warnings that tell them that they should never trust anyone, not give up their money, and be sure to read every word of the contract. Or, they will be deemed less than smart.
It has nothing to do with honesty. I am extremely honest, but I am also not naive. I am not parted with my money that easy. I don't find it a bit unfortunate for people to warn these folks that they need to READ contracts before signing them, because yes, that is the smart thing to do. I suspect most everyone works to hard for their money too throw it away on things they signed off on without really looking into. Would you prefer people who do know about these scams say nothing, so that no one else who reads could benefit from it? And furthermore, many people enjoy these CG/resort memberships, so you really can't call it a scam. Buyer's remorse might be a more appropriate term.
I trust that many of the folks who responded accordingly are also VERY honest. This doesn't have much to do with that. I am sure there are dishonest people who were victims of scams too. To chalk it up to honesty, or not, is not analogous IMO.
Sorry. I did not mean to imply that you are not honest or that all sales people are dishonest. I'm just saying that some people expect to always be treated like they would treat others, and that is not the case. Maybe I should have only said trusting.
It is unfortunate that we can not always trust people is what I was trying to say. Guess I did not say it clearly. Unfortunately, sometimes it is a scam. Guess I still hope for a perfect world.
Hope this clears up some comments. This is an example of why I don't write contracts. :) Thanks for the comeback.

RE: Chicken Taste

Coming from back in the day when my Mom or Grandmother would go out, grab a chicken by the head that was walking around in the yard, ring it's neck, clean it and fry it for supper that night, there is not a lot that taste like chicken. :) However, many things today taste like today's chicken that was raised in a cage and never saw the light of day.

RE: SCAMS

scam - deprive of by deceit
I think the OP was mostly saying beware of membership contracts and maybe some deceptive sales tactics. I think it is good advice.
Sounds like many of you agree that a buyer should be sure and read the contract and not trust the "pitch", but just don't agree with the word scam.

RE: How close to home camping?

Does it really matter? Someone might drive hours to get to a spot that you can get to in five minutes. If you "ain't" home and your happy it's camping, no matter how far from your stick/brick you are. :)
Sometimes I drive a long time, sometimes I don't.

RE: Before retirement........

Started as a "bagboy" in a supermarket while in high school. I left that job to work at a large manufacturing plant, got drafted into Army, went back to work at the plant, got laid off, went back to the supermarket, worked my way up to store manager, got called back to plant as computer operator, did not like how the jobs/tasks were ran so I did a little reading and learned to rewrite the code. Retired as lead system support engineer for the IT department.
It sure would have been easier with a degree of some sort. Encourage your kids/grandkids to get that college degree.
