RE: HPFP ??

You are very correct Gman22 it is kind of funny the way a select few of the immature people on here has to bash the other makes. I am actually in the car business and they all have the good points and bad points. It doesn't matter if its one of the Big 3 or an import model.
And choosing which major brand is like choosing which set of problems you want to have.
All the major makes have achieved a level of competence, reliability and excellence unheard of 20 years ago.
And they all are still getting better with time.
Those who bash other brands are likely very dissatisfied customers of their current product.... and this is a way to make themselves feel better.
Considering their appalling record with their last THREE diesel engines, Ford deserves every bit of bashing they get and ten thousand times more!

RE: CUMMINS C 8.3 DP- JUST TOLD I NEED A NEW HEAD/HELP?

After inspection the crack is in the exhaust port. Which is apart of the head. He said if it was his he would probably try some kind of patch. He is going to have the machine shop look at it.the only "some kind of patch" I can think of is to weld it, and no way would I patch mine that way. If your going to go throught the expense of removing the head for the machine shop to do some kind of patch - better to get a new head!!!
No machine shop needed...JB Weld is a wonderful thing! It flat out WORKS.

RE: Ugly Encounter at Campground

It's sad how many people think it's ok to walk thru someone's camp space. It's even sadder how many won't stand up for what they believe and say something. Get some balls and maybe people won't be so rude. That's the problem today is everyone gets away with everything.
I do not cut through occupied sites, unless I am stumbling around in the dark and/or fog. (If that was you, I apologize...I didn't realize I was on your site until I tripped over your power pole.) Having said that, I will not hesitate to cut through a VACANT site!

RE: Tire Question

I can not for the world of me figure why a person would spend 50-60 grand for a MH then get cheap when it comes time to replace $4-5k for tires and have piece of mind when driving on a trip NOT to mention the safety of friends and family on the road. I/we got $20ooo rig and I can,t afford NOT to put tires on after 5-6 yrs--Maybe I am getting old and crabby but thats my opinion--Rich
So, by that logic, why not replace your tires EVERY year, then?

RE: Sorry state of fuel in North America

Comments on here about people who put whatever they can into the tank and not worry about it is interesting, when many of the same people would not let all but the best lubricating oils, filters, etc. near the same vehicle.
My truck and my Genesis will run happily on...pretty much anything flammable. I add used engine oil to the fuel in my F-350...it burns it just fine.

RE: Sorry state of fuel in North America

Why no small diesels you say? - talk to the EPA about their oxides of Nitrogen standards that make it VERY expensive/almost impossible to build a vehicle that complies without pricing it through the roof!
Explain to me why VW, BMW, Mercedes, etc. all have no trouble meeting the identical specs?
And VW products are not "priced through the roof".
They do it with emission controls that use more fuel (and cost a fortune). This is NOT complicated.

RE: CNG?

If there were a way to refill the CNG tank at home from a gas line, possibly.
http://www.cngcivic.com/www.cngcivic.html
Takes time though. RV or truck may need a larger unit.
Ha ha ha ha.......I wonder what the tax man is going to say about this little unit. :E This is just like running red in your diesel. :E
I don't know about YOUR state, but here in Montana there is a space on the vehicle registration marked "FUEL". If it is filled in with "gasoline" or "diesel", no problem, the "TAX man" is not interested.
BUT, if it is marked "LPG" or "CNG" or "WVO" or any other fuel that is normally not taxed, you may be required to file quarterly reports on the amount of fuel used, and forward the tax payments with them.
Yes, you COULD enter gas or diesel in that space, and happily drive around without paying your FAIR SHARE of the road taxes, but if (when) you get caught, it could be VERY expensive and inconvenient.
But then, I guess sitting in jail could be considered by some to be a welcome vacation!
What about a bi-fuel? It IS a gasoline engine...but also has a CNG tank.

Don't worry about it. Go camping. Drive 5000 miles and you'd be hard pressed to know where it was.

RE: HPFP ??

Have you been draining the fuel/water seperator often? This is the first thing Ford is going to look at when they inspect the truck. If there's water in there, good luck getting any warranty coverage for the HPFP.
The latest iteration of the 6.7 software logs the water in fuel indicator light.
Chances are so does the 6.4 software once it is upgraded.
So sure, drain the water (if any) and save it as a sample in a sealed, dated and photographed bottle in a video recorded procedure if possible.
Or, rather than having to go through all the BS...trade in the lemon.

RE: The best compressor to buy to air the tires to 100PSI ?

My advice, don't use your on board RV air system, don't get a 12 V compressor and don't get a 120V compressor with less than 150#. You will be disappointed. They are all inadequate for pressures over 100#. Been there done that.
Jim E
Currie and ARB or Old Man Emu (same thing is sold under both names) are 12V compressors that will work. I had one in my previous bus...bulletproof (the Curries are tough enough the military uses them) and effective. Neither is cheap new (I got mine used), but either will be the last 12V compressor you will ever need!

No, actually...you can get a spare for ZERO cost: when replacing tires, take the best of the old ones as a spare.
