RE: Nervous Newbie Seeks Advice

16 is what we took last year. Needles should not jut be avoided it would be near impossible. We stayed at Rafter J. Once you get there and drop the trailer,go explore!
Wish we would have gone to spearfish canyon. Rushmore is cool at night. When we did the loop road, we go off on some of the gravel roads. The are marked and get you back into the country. They reconnect to the loop,

RE: Verizon aircard and RV.Net

Tried the woodall site and FF. No joy.
Fortunately at the cabin (dsl) it works fine (and at work).
Weird problem.

RE: Verizon aircard and RV.Net

Are any of you folks who are having problems using Firefox for a browser? If not, try switching to that. Don't use any add-ons.
Firefox is generally MUCH less of a memory/data hog than IE. Don't know about Chrome.
IE is marginally faster than chrome. There are some chrome setting that have been suggested to change. Tried that, no joy.
Will give FF a go tonight.

RE: I Am Done with RV.Net Web Site

I have the same issues. I like the site to much to leave though.
I don't see how some weird combo of carrier/SITE/software can't be the issue. All other sites forums run fine, everyday, and rv.net runs very slow, everyday.
I am happy for those of you who do not have the issue. Not so much for the rest of us..............

RE: Verizon aircard and RV.Net

OP here
I have tried the Woodall portal before and no joy
I don't think it's an equipment or signal problem since this only happens
when I'm on this site. I also have all of the latest sofeware updates
I was hoping for the other portal, maybe not. Here at work it is a rocket as are all my other forums. Granted the connection is 50 meg and at home is 1.3. But only this forum goes to turtle slow at home. IF it was the Verizon tower at home all sites would be affected.
I am soon going to the 3/4g modem and going to use it in 3g mode until 4g is here. We will see.

RE: Verizon aircard and RV.Net

For the life of me i can't figure why one site would be slow and all the rest not. With the air card I get good down/up sppeds but I know that latency is higher than with a wired sollution.
That is why the air cards are not good for online gaming (i don't game online) The only way latency would come into play is if the site was getting communication back from the client while loading. This is probobly not the case but it would explain it.
Which I could make it go away, makes it almost unusable.

RE: Verizon aircard and RV.Net

I have the exact same problem. Have the 760 and the cradlepoint mbr1000. 5 other forums I use are just fine. This site is fast when I am at work.
It is slightle fast for me when I use explorer over chrome. I use chrome for everything else.
I am on windows 7 32 bit.

RE: What we did 4G & Cradlepoint!

We have the older air card with the wilson antena and a booster. The booster helps a lot with our setup. also have the mbr1000. We will be upgrading to the 2g/4g modem soon. The plan is cheaper and 4g will be here in the fall.
We have been running this as our primary connectio for 2 years and are pleased.

RE: Verizon Air card RV.net Speed

I feel for ya. I have a V aircard and suffered for months, but mine's ok now.
Very strange.
Did you do anything or did it just fix itself?

RE: Verizon Air card RV.net Speed

It's weird. Just hitting reply to topic just now, it took 20 seconds to get to typing. My other forums are much, much quicker. I'm in IT and just ca't figure why one particular site would act like this.
It has been dog slow, consistently, for months.
I am on a couple of ford truck sites and they don't perform this way. I can type fast but loading the forum or when i hit post message it will take awhile.

Verizon Air card RV.net Speed

Was reading another post and someone asked if the OP was on a Verizon air card? What is the issue with that? I run the card in a cradlepoint modem at home as my primary internet access. RV.net is painfully slow but other forums work fine.
Rv.net works fine at my cabin (dsl) and at work.

RE: No hookups and no generator use allowed - how?

Electric or a decent size genny (4kish) are only way to run AC. Inverter is to run small electrical devices form the 12v battery system.

RE: 2004 F250 Crew Cab with 6.0 TD

As a reference point, I have a 04 6.0 F350 CC.
I have replaced shocks, rotors,, breaks, ball joints and the EGR valve.
I have just shy of 110,000. Just towed 31' TT last week on vaca and towed well. Power is good.
I am trading in a couple of months for a '12 version. I just want a new truck as much as anything else.
The only maint. item out of line was the EGR valve at around a grand, the other stuff seemed normal for such a heavy truck.

GSD and storms

We have an 8 year old GSD who never cared about storms for most of her life. Just in the last year or so she has become nervous during storms she would not have batted an eye at before. Not a huge deal but just wondered if others have seen this. Our previous 2 GSD's did not change like this.
On a side note our Springier has been in the lap since a puppy in storms. The Border collie could care less.
Again, no huge deal, just curious............

RE: CB Channel

Yeah, I use the CB when bad traffic happens and usually find a good exit and return. Also use it for entertainment on long trips. I wish I could find one that has a headphone jack so I could listen and mute the main speaker. I have the Cobra hand held currently.
We monitor 19 and it can get a little foul..............

RE: How many are too many miles?

So, if you look at it from a logical point of view, what you are saying is that of 3 Ford 6.0L Powerstroke owners you know personally (you being one of them), 2 of those 3 have had to put ~$1000 in repairs into the engine - one cost over $5000. Or, put another way, a 66% failure rate with a 33% chance your repairs will be over $5000, and a 66% percent chance you'll have to spend roughly $1000 in repairs in around 125k - 150k miles. Seems we agree. :W:)
Thought about it...and.....
So in h-school many years ago...break out group. 4 of us, hot girl says if 3 out of 4 of us agree to a point it must be the national average? All agreed (for different reasons, none logical)I replied that is very logical point of view. Did not work for me or for her. :R:p

RE: Contacts from file

What is the file extension of the contacts file?
I presume you tried opening outlook, choosing import, from a file, selecting the file and selecting contacts as the target folder?

RE: How many are too many miles?

I have a 04 6.0 with 105k on it. Besides normal stuff (shock/rotors) I have put 1k into it for the EGR. what some are referring to here is the injector issue which can get expensive.
Besides the EGR issue, I have had a great experience with this truck. Great power. I am, however, going to trade for a 12 this fall.
I have a BIL and friend who have early 6.0's. Both over 150k on them. One has done nothing other than regular wear and tear and the other has north of 5k into his (injectors/EGR)
Do your research and make a decision based on that.
