RE: Trailer Trailer vs. Fifth Wheel Drivability

I have had both and prefer the TT. It just tracks better behind the TV and I have never had a stability problem. TT is much more responsive when backing although never had a problem with 5th, just less responsive. 5th wheel was stable too but in my opinion more work to hook up etc. and I lost the use of my truck bed.

RE: washing dishes in TT

If we are cooking bacon or something else greasy in the TT (rather than outside) we use paper towels to soak up and absorb the grease and put it in the garbage. Remaining grease get washed with the dishes.

RE: GPS with backup/rear view camera

I have a Garmin 7200 with a nice 7 inch screen that is back up camera compatible.

RE: Loose Wood Trim - How to Resecure

I have had really good results with a product called 'No More Nails' which is a contact super glue for wood. Once you use it, it is there forever. I have used it for lots of trim pieces in S&B and RV.

RE: GM built in brake controller question

With my first IBC two truck ago I was expecting the 'grab' of the Prodigy and thought it was not working properly. Now two trucks later I realize that it is just smooth and absolutely proportional to the braking on the truck. What you are experiencing in my opinion is perfectly normal.

RE: Closed under bellies and rodents

We store our trailer in a field surrounded by trees and have never had a problem with critters of any kind although we often see mice but not in the trailer.

RE: For those of you who use a memory foam topper on a mattress

We use a memory foam in the trailer and on our beds in the b&S. We put the memory foam on top of the mattress and then a quilted mattress cover over that and it does not move and it easy to make the bed. The quilted mattress cover hold it in place quite well. Very comfy and cozy.

RE: leveling with 1" X 8" boards

The boards will take the weight no problem. I have been using boards for years.

RE: How close to home camping?

One of our favourite Provincial Parks is about 40 minutes drive from Toronto. We go there often as it feels like we are away in a forest.

RE: Marathon trip to pick up RV. Suggestions needed please!

You do not indicate when you are making this trip. If it is right now there are almost no rv parks open at this time of the year in the north.

RE: Slide Out Capacity

We did exactly that with our 2005 Mobile Suites 36 TK3 with absolutely no problems over a 5 year period.

RE: Storage of 5th wheel in Florida

Had friends who did the same thing with one not so small problem. They drained the black tank and what was left in there turned to concrete and gave them a big problem. So you might want to leave some water in the black tank.

RE: Florida road/driver question

Interesting observation. I have been going to Florida for 30 years and must say that I have never seen or experienced such a situation. Maybe just lucky.

RE: Who is still camping?

Look at it this way. 500 mile trip @ 10 mpg with $4.00 gas costs $200. Same trip with $5.00 gas costs $250. So are you staying home for the sake of $50? Not me . Just plug in your own numbers. In Canada we are already over $5.00/gal. and see US gas prices as a bargain. People driving just as before. The sky is not falling.

RE: Refrigerator Filled Cabin with Propane Odor

We have a 2012 Open Range Roamer with a rubber gas line running from the gas pipe underneath up into the slideout for the fridge and stove so soft lines are being used. It needs to be rubber so that it will flex with the movement of the slideout. Sound like a good place for a mouse to have a nibble. I will keep an eye on it.

RE: Red Coconut- activities nearby

Red Coconut is a fantastic place. We have stayed there often. You can ride to Publix or Topps grocery store easily on your bikes as we do. There is a trolley that stops right at the entrance to the Red Coconut that will take you right up into Fort Myers if you want it to for 50 cents or 25 cents for seniors or you can take it to Publix as well. What we usually do is walk the beach into the main shopping/bar/restaurant area and take the trolley back. There is also the Junkanoo bar/restaurant accross the street and a great Chinese restaurant about 100 yards south of the Coconut. Make sure you hit the Beach Pub. Tables and chairs right in the sand on the beach and good happy hour prices. Easy walk on the beach from the Coconut.

RE: Looking for park in Palm Harbor Area, Florida

Take a look at Sherwood Forest RV Park in Palm Harbour. Not fancy smaller but nice. Also Dunedin RV Resort that is really nice. We have stayed at both and would recommend both of them.
