RE: Question about previous owner and a part

The dealer probably low balled the original owner when they bought it. I agree that negotiating a price from the original owner for the stove top might be the way to go. You will probably get the best match of color that way. However, there must have been a reason the top was removed such as it being damaged. I would ask for pictures before buying it at any price.

RE: best awning replacement fabric ?

Sunbrella has a superior fabric here. For slide topper awnings I would definitely go with Sunbrella since A&E has a cheap vinyl awning. For patio awnings A&E has a quality fabric material which should last a long time.

RE: Mattress replacement

I added a mattress topper to my mattress and it is a great addition. It is about 3" thick and does a great job at a low price.
On edit, The topper is memory foam and costs a little over $100. It was a big improvement over the original mattress which was not that bad.

RE: Water pump runs continuously, but no water, no leaks

I just replaced the diaphragm and lower housing on my Shureflo pump due to leaks. In the process of installing the new part I accidentally got the condition of low pressure and continuous running(never reached cutoff pressure). What I found is that I didn't seat the new diaphragm properly and therefor the mounting screws could not be tightened enough.
I suggest tightening the screws. If that doesn't work remove the screws and diaphragm, lubricate the diaphragm with liquid soap and re-install. If no joy buy a new diaphragm and lower housing. Shurflo can customer service can give a part number and Amazon can get it to your fast.

RE: HWH jack slow on one corner

Put a little transmission fluid on a rag and rub the jack down with it fully extended.

RE: HOT front AC breaker

You replaced the breaker and you say the new breaker still heats up? As already stated, make sure the connections are tight. The next thing to check is the air conditioner. It may be drawing too much current. A clamp on current meter can help there.

RE: Cat C-7 Fan Hub Shot Again

Although I don't have a CAT engine I was thinking about the serpentine belt length relative to this thread. On my Cummins ISB I changed my serpentine belt last summer using a cross reference Gates belt instead of the Cummins belt. Three weeks ago I started my MH and found the alternator seized. My thought is that the Gates belt was shorter than the Cummins belt. It seemed much more difficult to install because I had to move the tensioner further. I am wiser now and I just hope my water pump didn't get damaged.

RE: 2001 Beaver Marquis Jasper Questions

NADA has low retail for the MH as $121K. New price was nearly $500K. As always do a very thorough mechanical check. Look at service records.

RE: Routine Maintenance

There is no getting around reading the manuals and it was a two day process in my case. I condensed the material into two computer documents; Maintenance Schedule and Maintenance Notes. Maintenance Schedule (Word)lists all of the required maintenance and maintenance intervals, and Maintenance Notes (Excel) records when the maintenance was done along with details such as filter number or miscellaneous info. I have used this system for 11 years and it has been vital. Otherwise I would not remember the last time I performed maintenance. Some intervals are as long as four years. It seems that everyone uses a different system but the end result should be the same. The manuals are not designed for easy reference and you need to convert it to your own format.

RE: Prepping roof for new Liquid Rubber Roof

I applied Liquid Rubber to my EPDM roof a few years ago. I removed no caulk. I never remove caulk unless it is peeling which it never has. It doesn't look bad but I wouldn't want that appearance on my sidewalls. Nobody sees the roof anyway. If you scrape your caulk off you risk damaging your roof and I would not do that. WD-40, never use it on an EPDM roof. No petroleum product should be used on an EPDM roof. It will be absorbed and cause the roof to expand and detach from its bond with the underlayemnt. I didn't bother to remove any vents when applying Rubber Roof. BTW Rubber Roof is excellent.

RE: HWH jacks

I was having a similar problem. Purchased the biggest shovel handle I could find. Someone siggested rubbing the cylinders with transmission fluid. I have some extra transmission fluid so I put some on a rag and with the jacks fully extended rubbed them down completely. They stored and the travel light came on. Since that time, about every fourth or fifth trip, I use a spray bottle to spray them with transmission fluid and they continue to work as designed.
Ditto, Transmission fluid on the pistons every now and then. I bought my MH new 11 years ago and at afterabout the five years one piston occasionally had to be forced to retract. I called Stewart and got the advice to try transmission fluid. It work for me.

RE: What's under my Bounder?

I would check with Fleetwood, but I expect the whether it is plywood or chipboard it is marine grade and very water resistant. The floor has contact with the outside and frequently gets wet. It has to be water resistant.

RE: Cummins ISB 300hp

Guys,
Physics is physics.
Light, aerodynamic coaches with "reasonable" HP modern diesel engines DO get 10 MPG.
Brett, I like your term "reasonable" HP. I feel the same way. My 260 HP ISB is perfect in my case for a 36', 26,000 lb combined weight. My engine balances power with fuel economy just right. As higher and higher HP engines became available people wanted them and coach manufacturers made MHs bigger and heavier to match the engines. They are nice, big, MHs but they sure use the fuel not to mention having a high initial price.

RE: American Eagle advice

American Eagle MHs are very upscale. Interior decor is superior. The trick is to get a seller to put a reasonable price on one compared with other MHs of the same age.

RE: Engine wouldn't start

I will reply based on the assumption that the engine would turn over but not start. One thing you did by cutting the chassis battery off was to reset the engine computer, ECM. That could have helped. You should look for stored codes in the ECM. There are lots of possible issues. Loss of prime is one. You could have an air leak downstream from the lift pump which draws air into the fuel. There are many more possible causes. It looks like a trip to a shop is in order.

RE: Life after Red Max Pro

Totally Awesome, cleaning soap will etch the RMP if used straight out of the bottle.
I cleaned our M/H to remove the RMP, getting it ready for a new coat of RMP & it took Totally Awesome mixed an ammonia cleaner to do the job, so its pretty tuff stuff.
Neil
My RMP is nearing the one year mark and looking like new. I have a question about why it is necessary to remove the original RMP to apply new coats?

RE: Bio-diesel... any issues with using this fuel?

Whith biodiesel do not use more diesel conditioner then what it says on the bottle to use. DFC usage is when more is not better. Too much dfc and it coagulates the bio part of the diesel in to a white creamy looking substance in the bottom the tank which then will clog the filters. Bettor off not using dfc at all,
Your abbreviation DFC makes me go into the decode mode. My guess is that it is an anti-gel or anti-freeze additive.

RE: Bio-diesel... any issues with using this fuel?

There was a thread on IRV2 where a MH kept fouling fuel filters after bio-diesel was used. All that could be deduced was that bio-diesel clean out sediment better than diesel. This possible downside is enough to keep me from trying it. As in the ULSD discussions, the effect on gaskets is also a question. I am not a naysayer but I am saying that there are unknowns.

RE: Original Poster never returns Solution

Thanks for the tip. I never knew you could do that and so now I just changed my settings to do that.
For all these years I've been clicking on the "Subscribe" line when I posted a reply.
So yes, that option is available. It's interesting you are the only person who pointed it out.
I wonder how many were aware of it.
Arch, It has been so long ago that I checked subscribe on Preferences for any thread that I posted to that I thought that it might be the default. Knowing about the subscribe preference might just mean that I have too much time on my hands.
