RE: Floorplan for 2002 Monaco Windsor 40PST

Utube video of a 2004 and doubt there's much difference in a 02. Doubt you have enough height between the top of the sofa and the bottom of the cabnet (25") for one anyTV larger than 40" which will be 24" high.

From 8-10' away, I do not think you need a 42+ TV.

RE: Retractable flatscreen TV in 2002 Monaco Windsor 40PST

Before I'd spend $700 on a lift, I'd rig something using cables from the cabnets above to raise it up. I recently replaced my front TV with a 40" LED that was only 1 1/2" thick and less than 25lbs. You would only have to move the sofa out 2". You could mount a pair of lined U channels behind the sofa to hold the TV while traveling. By mounting a small 12V winch made by adding a drum to something like this you could slide it up in the U channel to watch. Here is a link to the post about this TV.

RE: Latest on refrigerator problems???

I hope Doug is correct, but this is only because of the recall box that is supposed to shut the unit down when it overheats and hopefully before it catch's on fire.
Doug, the hundreds (probably thousands) of RVer who lost their rigs because of these fires would disagree. What revision of this box is Norcold on? I know it's number three or more.
The problem with the 1200s is because of a poor design for a 12cu ft refer. Look at the difference in the bottom coils in these two links. The Amish ones have a pair of coils that fill up the bottom half of the unit. The Norcold coil only fills part of the area and is the same size as a 6 cu ft Norcold.

RE: What is this exhaust pipe called?

I GOT CARRIED AWAY and spent $15 on this one. I made it out of alum 2"X4" gutter down spout and a 90 degree elbow. Already designed to slip together and cutting the 10' into two 5' is easy enough plus it makes it easy to store. 10' gets it above the roof.
http://i47.tinypic.com/kd1sop.jpg width=640
You do not need the air gap, but it does lower the temp of the up pipe by 15 degrees to 120F. http://i50.tinypic.com/2bwo7c.jpg width=640
The 4" suction cup came from Harbour Freight ($4) plus I had the white channel that slips into the joint. Not that it weighs all that much but the suction cup will support all the weight. http://i47.tinypic.com/4h5j69.jpg width=640
Putting a little paint on the two joints helps in putting it together. Just made another one for a friend and it cost $17.

RE: Latest on refrigerator problems???

Plenty of discussions on this hidden in that search box. One of the latest is more about the failures of the Norcold recall boxes. Most of the fires are with the four door Norcold 1200s and in the above link I have a post that lets you see why the Amish replacement cooling units are better than the orginal Norcold ones. The Norcold 1200 need all the help they can get and putting one in a slide makes it difficult to get enough air flow for it to work OK.

RE: The 96 Monaco Exec I want to buy has Aged Out Tires...

Probably , but you already agreed to the price......right ? .. If it were me I'd mark it down to not doing my homework before offering a price and take the hit unless I was deceived somehow ... Age Of tires is on the top items , in any inspection.
X2, and don't feel bad, I've done it on a vehicle before too.

The prairies in the US look better than the ones in Canada when you factor in the price difference for fuel.:B

RE: Norcold recall failure

X2 for D...Don's post. When I had my 1200 cooling unit replaced with a Amish one, they pointed out the difference and why the 1200s give so much trouble. The Amish ones have a pair of coils that fill up the bottom half of the unit. The Norcold coil only fills part of the area and is the same size as a 6 cu ft Norcold. Put a 1200 in a slide and you will need a really good install and extra fans to get it to work OK.

RE: Slideouts in storage bay

Here is the best way to go as you are not going to find the hardware to make one. With these, you supply the plywood floor and put it together. You will need a really good pop rivet gun to pop the large steel riverts. You can make your own trim kit so you are looking at $300+ for a 90" long that will open from both sides. May qualify for the free shipping.

RE: Norcold recall failure

If it was only 5 in 100,000 (0.005%) I guess that would be OK, if you were not one of the 5. Unfortunately when it comes to the 1200's it closer to 1 in 5,000 and yes this is a SWAG, but I'm at 13 MH's that I've seen burned by these POS refers. What revision is Norcold on of their recall??? Number 4 or is it 5? Does not give me a warm feeling... Oh wait, it could be a real hot feeling.
I agree it is NOT a good idea to bypass without knowing what to look for. You need to watch the temp of the flue area as you may well have a problem. If the freezer does not start to get cold in 2-3 hours I would be buying coolers and dry ice.

RE: opinions please.

Better late than never, but it's harder to sell a rig than it is to buy one. It's a buyer's market, not a seller's. Having owned two DP's when I only needed one for a lot longer than I'd hoped, I would sell your current rig first and then buy something else. The rig you've found may be gone, but there's plenty of other ones out there. You may be better off trading and taking the hit now instead of in a year when you still own the 2012 that is now worth 20% less.

RE: Is April and May too early to go west?

Looks like a lot less snow this year than last so many of the northern things may be open sooner. Going south will help, but Going to the Sun did not open last year until early July.

RE: Norcold recall failure

Pirate, I guess you do not understand what the recall box does. It's a bandaid to hopefully shut the refer down before it burns the RV up. These recall boxes are junk, just like the Norcolds and have a high failure rate which shuts down the unit when nothing is wrong. All that's wrong with the OP's is the recall box (alternator), not the refer (engine). OK?

RE: Stackable vs. combo washer dryer

If money and room is not an issue then sure get the stacked. I would only get a non vented as a last resort as they use a lot more water. The extra water is used to cool the drum so the moisture condinsates and is pumped out. We use our 2100 combo a lot and do not see the need for stacked units as our works well. You learn to hang some things out to dry speeding up the dry cycle.

RE: Dw upset

As your dealer I'd be ticked if this is all that's wrong with your new trailer. Having read all of your previous posts I understand you are excited about all this and it's new to you, but unfortunately I doubt those are your only problems. I guess we got off to a bad start, but thinking you are due a different new trailer because of the pictures you posted.:S Those of us who have been doing this for a long time would be jumping for joy if that's all that's wrong.:B

RE: Dw upset

You have got to be kidding... Count yourself lucky if that's all that's wrong. You are going to haul it back to the dealer for something that will take 15 minutes to clean??? Sure glad I'm not your dealer. Let the DW clean it as it will build character and you will know it's done to perfection. A little OCD is putting it mildly.

RE: Norcold recall failure

I remove the big yellow swire that now goes to the recall's red wire and put it on the board where the blue wire from the recall connects. On my recall there are only four connections. Red is power into it and blue is power out.
