RE: Looking for a Rental Company...

Oh look--I found it by googling "Roadtrek" instead of "RV". rvsanfrancisco.com.

RE: Looking for a Rental Company...

Thanks, J-mans Dad. I will check these rental services out, although none of them are the place I saw. I suppose they may have gone out of business. I think it was a much smaller outfit.

Looking for a Rental Company...

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction here. A year or two ago, I ran across a website for a company in San Francisco which was advertising rentals of fairly high-end ("European styling", as I recall) B-class campers. Not "campervans", but the kind with beautiful cabinetry and a bathroom. I have been googling and googling to no avail. Has anyone run across this site/company, or better yet rented from them? Thanks so much, Debbie

RE: Carpet Tear-Out

Thanks for the good advice. Sounds like this is doable but I guess I was right about the staples . I'm terrified of what might be under that carpet--I'm going "eeewwww" and "yuuuchh" already in my mind. As for water damage, nothing would surprise me. I'd heard of Allure, sounds like a good way to go. Any other ideas, send them along! Debbie

Carpet Tear-Out

We are thinking of tearing out the carpet in our motorhome--it is about 23 years old--need I say more? What I'd like to know is, is this a major job? It seems like it shouldn't be, but I read an article once which led me to believe I will find 10,000,000 hard to remove staples. What's the story on this? And what kinds of nice new flooring do people recommend these days? Thanks for your advice-- Debbie

Campgrounds near Red Lodge, MT

My AAA CampBook lists about a half-dozen public USFS campgrounds (all pretty small, but they take reservations) in the area of Red Lodge, MT. Can anyone give me some info about them? Would you recommend any one of them over any of the others? Thanks-- Debbie

RE: How Do I Find a Dispersed Camping Site?

Thanks to all of you! I was sure there must be some helpful sites, but for some reason I wasn't finding them. I appreciate everyone's help. Yet another adventure! Debbie

How Do I Find a Dispersed Camping Site?

I'm planning a trip for September and for the first time, might actually want to find a "dispersed camping" location. I've never done this before and don't really know how to find an allowable spot. I do have the Benchmark road atlases, so I see a lot of BLM and FS land in certain areas. Do I need to call the local BLM office listed in the atlas? Is there some other way to get useful info? Or do I just find a quiet corner of the world and drop anchor? Any tips would be much appreciated. Debbie

RE: Apps for Tourists

@Dick-- you are lucky living more toward the center of the country. We have to drive like h*** just to get someplace new. However, "vacation" is a state of mind. We happen to love driving, and watching the countryside glide past. The second we pull away from our front door, we are ON VACATION and having a terrific time. And if/when we decide we're tired of driving...we stop.

Apps for Tourists

I'm researching our big trip out west in September, and while checking out Flaming Gorge Nat. Rec. Area in Wyoming, discovered that there's a free app for Sweetwater County Travel Info. What other areas have you found with apps for tourists to check out a specific, maybe smaller and less well-travelled area? This seems like a bonus to me, having some of this info in my iPod to check out as we are coming into the area. Can't wait to hit the road in late August--4 weeks on the road, woohoo! We're blasting our way out I-80 as fast as we can, to get to Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, and Montana. (Taking a corner off Washington for that all-important state sticker map, LOL!) If you have any great ideas/stops for us, I'd love to hear. Debbie
