RE: Getting a refund from Camping World on extended warrenty

Holy Moly. No - the OP does not need to have a problem before creating a discussion post. At a certain age we all learn how to interpret written and verbal discussions/conversations. Unfortunately choosing to use the skill is difficult for some.
Good luck - hope you get some $$ back.

RE: Campgrounds with Private hot tubs on site???

Willow Tree does empty the water as soon as the site is vacated and fill it once the new occupant arrives. It is more expensive. We spent the month of December on a hot tub site -- which is the cheapest time of year to be there. Rates can be found on their website. You can also see pics of the sites. Find their site map to view those.
Willow Tree
I don't care about hot tubs, but hubby loved it. I just like the beautiful lake view from these sites. All the hot tub sites are also lakefront sites.

RE: CoachNet

I never has a problem with AAA in over 30 years with them and have used them many times over the years. I have Good Sam Roadside Assistance to help out with the MH. Good customer service comes from the supplier of the service. If you (the customer) have an issue, they should be able to log it into their system and do the complete follow through to a successful resolution. The customer should not have to make several calls and go through a chain of command. They do this so you will just give up on the issue. I was going to switch to CoachNet but will now stay with Good Sam.
Good Sam also uses alternative ways to solve custom problems after the fact. All companies have policies and all companies have employees who are authorized to override the policy to resolve customer complaints.
Companies don't do this to give up on the issue.. that's a victim mentality. They merely are running their business and the complexity of contracting other companies to offer you service in emergency situations adds in layers of complexity that may not always work. Even @ GoodSam.

RE: CoachNet

Nobodys perfect but I can tell you horror stories about both AAA and Good Sam while CoachNet has been extremely helpful particularly when my daughters were stranded and needed help desperately, CoachNet only for me and I agree that speaking to the right people at CN will get results.
Speaking to the right person can be a problem. The person I spoke to was head of CoachNet's Quality Assurance Department. She informed me she was the final step and unless I did it her way there was no way the issue would be resolved.Sorry, she has a boss too and that is why I gave the name and email address for a Senior VP of the company. If you let someone walk on you when you feel you have a valid gripe and are right, then shame on you.
Exactly. Be the victim or the victor. Act or be acted upon. Everything is negotiable -- but you must be willing to go for it and you must know how to do it.
Effective communication skills are important -- learn how to influence - how to talk to others at all levels.. how to change your approach when you encounter a strong personality. If you just get angry or become adversarial, you'll probably lose. Just demanding things is not an effective communication style. Stick to the facts, the process and learn how to blend to redirect things your way.

RE: Teenager At Home and RVing

You are one of many people in the world who can't make decisions and over analyze most everything. Spending hours or days talking about a problem and assessing and responding to every reply is not normal.
Go buy the book "Who Moved the Cheese". It might help you realize the benefits of acting vs. thinking, talking, analyzing.

I'd also recommend Mountain Stream RV Park. Unless you have kids.. they might find it boring. But if it is just the two of you, give it a try.

You can pick your site. They have pictures of each site on their website. Just click on the site # and scroll to the bottom and the site pic shows up in the lower leftside. Click on it to get a bigger pic.

RE: CoachNet

Learn how Coach-Net works and either stand up for yourself by calling them back or learn to do it next time. You are the manager of your problems from start to end. When something is not working the way you expect -- speak up.
We had a big problem with a the company that replaced our tires after a blowout on the road. We took the problem to CoachNet's Quality Assurance department. They took care of everything. And kept us informed as things were being resolved. End result - the tire guy refunded the cost of the tires, Coachnet reimbursed the fee we had paid him to install these. ($260+).
They do have a process

RE: 2012 tiffin phaeton pricing

When I was looking, I found dealers unwilling to discount Tiffin's as much as other makes. On a similarly priced model with comparable features, you can save upwards of 10% versus the Tiffin. With respect to Tiffin, I could only get 22% off a Phaeton, versus over 30% for my Discovery.
Get a list of dealers -- invite them to bid. Have it built to specs. You will do better than what you have stated here. 22% off is nothing -- but it is a hot model so sure they are likely to get it from a customer who can't wait.

RE: RV Carpet Replacement

We replaced the flooring in our motorhome in two phases. Replaced most of the carpet with tile in 2007 and then replaced the remaining carpet in 2010. I.e., areas that were not suitable for tile - like the slide - and the raised floor in the bedroom.
You can see the carpet job in the link below. There is a link to the tile within it. Work done by Brannon Hutcheson of Custom RV, in Vina, AL (outside Red Bay - where they make Tiffin motorhomes). Brannon is a former Tiffin employee who started his own business in 2008. Tiffin was very sorry to lose him. He's very popular with Tiffin owners - knows how to do anything. I'm sure he could do your MH... whether it's carpet or a combination of Allure/Carpet.
Carpet
On that same trip Brannon replaced our Norcold with a Residential Fridge. Fridge Just included these so you can see pics of him and his helpers.
He's very professional, has a two stall garage, customer lounge and outside hookup with 50 amp/water. I think he expanded another bay last year to offer detailing.
Brannon - (256) 668-0973 (cell). Though a distance from you, something to consider if you want to get the job done by someone who knows what they are doing. Perhaps make the trek down as a part of a trip. We bought our own carpet and hauled it to his place. He used a local carpet shop to bind the large piece that went under the dinette table/sofa.

RE: Motorhome Accident, I35 in NW Kanas

From the article and photos linked below, it appears to have been a Freightliner Class 8 RV conversion, and judging by the under floor storage bays and partly intact slide laying along side, I'd say it was a professional conversion, similar to this one.

This is a very sad story and my heart goes out for this family. But before we condemn this family and the 17 year old driver, let's get all the facts first. The people on the scene don't know much about these kinds of RV's. When they described it as a "converted box truck", they were obviously wrong. Also, when another person on the scene was quoted saying something about "seat belts in he trailer", they were probably talking about the motorhome. I have had many friends and family members that are not RV savvy refer to my motorhome as a "trailer".
These links do not work.

RE: 2010 Winnebago 40L. . .from Hell !

I seem to recall the lemon law s applicable to the chassis only. Is the box mounted on the chassis crooked? Is it a Freightliner - if so, take it to Gaffney and have them check for accuracy. I think there are guidelines on how close it must be. If it's way off, then you probably will get more attention from the powers that be @ Winnebago. Freightliner and the tire manufacturer would have issues if it is mounted incorrectly -- wear and tear chassis, tire safety etc. Could a misaligned housing be causing issues with the slides not working properly?
A Tiffin owner had this problem years ago and Tiffin ended up buying it back. You ought to post some pictures so others can see anything you might be missing.
Be sure to document everything. Keep a written audit trail of your appts - communications. Who does what, when.
FL Lemon Law
Florida Lemon Law only covers the "driving portion" of the coach. The "house" components are not covered.
I understand.. I inserted the link to the FL law. But if the box was mounted incorrectly it impacts the chassis/tire performance and you need to use all avenues to plea your case. As soon as you have proof it's off -- the chassis is impacted and your safety as well. You can bet the chassis company will make it clear to the manufacturer they will not be liable. Sometimes all you need is to get things to come from a higher authority to get action.
Now that may not be the issue with this coach -- but this is an example how I would tackle it if it was.

RE: What model residential refrigerator replaces Norcold 1200

Show us a picture of your current fridge.. someone may have ideas on alternatives.
On ours.. the guys lowered the floor a few inches and cut out a small section of the top trim board and added slots for the door hinges. It just fills the space more completely than the Norcold did, but you'd never know it by looking at the finished install.
What is below your current fridge? Perhaps you have some space there you can tap into.
Lucy
Unfortunatey I am about 10 days til I get home. Can you believe I'm actually traveling by airplane??? Ugh!
But there is hope! We just looked up the brochure for our Mountain Aire and it appears the Norcold sits on a 6" platform. There isn't any heat there so it's simply a matter of what's under this platform? If I can lower the new frig to the floor, then it becomes easy to find a unit that will fit into the existing opening. But I won't know until I get home and explore all the possibilities...
Dan
Plane.. well sometimes it's necessary - especially going over water. :B
I remember reading about some Newmar Owners doing a conversion - seems like that was shared on the IRV2 Newmar Owner forum.. so you might create a post over there too.

RE: 2010 Winnebago 40L. . .from Hell !

Also - seems like you spoke with a V.P once who said give the dealer another chance. Well you have done that, so I'd simply call him back and tell him you need to get the rest of this fixed and would appreciate his help getting a factory app. as he somewhat implied. If he says let's try the dealer route again, I'd simply say that - I have a summary of list of what has been done and the time it has taken and this process is not getting the job done completely or in some cases not resolved. And you'd be happy to forward a copy of that for his review. That you need the Winnebago experts to finish the job. It's a reasonable request. You showed good faith by following his suggestions and now you are looking for the Winnebago factory to finish building your coach to the standards he expects as a leader of the company. You can't be doing all the giving.

It's a 1000 Xantrex. I don't know the size.. if you are talking dimensions. Sorry - but we are going to keep it. Once DH retires our traveling habits may change and perhaps we will use it. But what do I know? This stuff is all Greek to me.:B

RE: What model residential refrigerator replaces Norcold 1200

Pics/info of our switch to a Whirlpool Fridge.
We have a dedicated pure sine wave inverter though I never understood why we needed it since we don't boondock. We used it the first few days after we got the fridge and then turned it off - don't use it any more. We are either on shore power or the generator is running because we have the roof air on to keep cool while driving. But if the fridge is already cool - we can even leave it off for several hours and things stay cold. We rarely drive more than 4 or 5 hours a day so this approach works great for us. The fridge works flawlessly.
Lucy
Lucy that install was beautiful. Do you know the Make and Model used??? This information would be very helpful. Thanks
