RE: WW Generator Fuel Gauge

I restore vehicles as a hobby and have found sending units are most likely the problem. I have found that with today’s gas you can have a varnish or other corrosion build over the resistor coils of the sending unit and not make proper contact. Remove the sending unit, carefully clean, re-install, and test. Or simply replace the unit.
I like working on my stuff so I do it the hard way (but cheaper too).

RE: New Toy Hauler & Insurance

My Credit Union show current rates at 5.74% for towables. You should check around.

RE: recliner's

We have a 2005 WW FSC2800. One of the first things we did was to remove the fold down table & seats and replace them with two Lazy Boy recliners and a folding table from CW. One of the best mods we've done. They don't take up any more space, they are moveable for travel, and they are more comfortable to sleep on than the fold down bed.
Now that the kids are grown we're seriously thinking of removing the fold down sofa for additional room. When we have visitors we still have the rear bunk or the recliners to sleep on. (Only our Lab would miss the sofa at night)
The Lazy Boys cost less than the RV recliners and were much more comfortable after a full day.

Is anyone else having problems using the spell check? I've had problems for sometime now and a recent change of computers hasn't helped.

RE: 2007 Used WW FS2300 Billet or What Else?

We have the 05 WW FSC2800 and have never had a problem. Frame is straight, walls are fine, and tires have never failed. We have over 20,000 miles and I can't find anything I want to replace it with. I'll just keep modifiying this one.

RE: Broken fresh water outlet fitting

I had the same type of problem a few years back. After several attempts to repair the existing plastic hose and fitting I gave up. I purchased a simple length of rubber hose with an inside diameter to slip over the plastic line. I cut the old fitting off and slid a standard hose clamp and the hose over the plastic line and thighten the clamp. I then placed a brass fitting into the open end of the new rubber hose and again used a standard hose clamp to tighten it down. Then connect your fitting.
This has worked well and I wouldn’t mess with that hard plastic line ever again.

RE: W.W. fuel tanks popping

I don't ever recall Tioga Pass being open all of Dec. in the past. I have a trip to Sacramento next week and it appears I'll be taking the shortest route.
I also found that my tank would pop if I were running the generator and the vacuum collapsed the tank until the pressure would overcome the vent system and pop.
"Pop" doesn't really describe the exploding sound of the tank when venting.

RE: W.W. fuel tanks popping

This is a simple one. I have a WW and never had a problem. During my travels I lost the stock fuel cap while fueling away from home. I went to the local auto supply and purchased a new cap. While it looked the same it wasn’t (non-vented).
Later during another trip to a Nascar race we were sitting around in the heat of the day when the whole trailer sounded like it blew up. It was just the unvented cap.
If you don’t know the history of your trailer from day one, I’d assume that someone has changed caps (or both) and have the wrong ones. Invest in two new caps and see if that improves things. It’s a cheap test before getting more involved with other possibilities.

RE: Toy Hauler Pictures

I find it very difficult to post pictures to this site and then they drop out after a period of time. I've just given up on pictures, but do enjoy the ones that others post. I'll just continue to type.

RE: Where you going for Veterans Day weekend?

I’m proud to say that Mono County will be hosting our first ever Veterans appreciation day (as a county wide event) on 11-11-11.
Our community has come together to cook breakfast for our vets and their spouses, have a member of the public to introduce each veteran in attendance stating their name, branch of service and years of service. Each veteran will be provided a small lapel pin to say thank you for serving. The pin reads “Mono County, where we honor our veterans” it also has the date 11-11-11.
This motto is posted on each county entry sign as you enter the county on our highways.
We will have a community member that was held in the Hanoi Hilton for 6 years as our guest speaker.
As we planned this event we had many discussions about program content. We wanted to acknowledge those KIA/MIA but felt Veteran’s Day is about those that are here with us. Memorial Day is to honor those that have fallen. We will have a moment of silence for those of us that have lost friends and can’t join us on this day. We will end our event by lowering the flag to half staff at 11:11 AM.
I will either fire up the bike or snowmobile depending on the conditions that day.

RE: Tires for FS2600

lincster,
I just checked and couldn't find my old post. I don't know how long the post are held before archiving. I have seen others pull up old stuff. It would be under my name Hap Hazard and listed as tires & wheels.
Good luck as this post had a lot of actual trial & error information that might save you time and money.

RE: Tires for FS2600

I would caution you on trying to move up to 16" wheels and tires on this trailer. Check out the full scope of issues under my post. Its not a simple issue of "I think I'll upgrade to 16's". The tread is long but you can track my trial & error process.

RE: Silly Hot Water Heater Question

I had an issue with my valve leaking more than a weep also. It wouldn’t have concerned me except that the dripping fell onto the electrical control panel and I’d already had one failure of that unit. I simple replaced the valve and then drilled an exit hole in the lower door panel and ran a hose from the valve outside the cabinet. Any leaking or failure would be directed out of the unit.
You’ll find lots of help and comments here.

RE: Adding the Gen-turi to the Onan...Any tips?

Mine also came with the adapters. Just pick the correct one and clamp it in place. The rest was snap and pin together. 15 minutes if you take your time.

RE: Hello New Member here

nayther,
I just took a peek at your profile and saw your rig. My unit is a 2006 WW FSC2800. I have an open floor plan and simply slide my recliners forward into the kitchen area when I have the motorcycles with us. It’s never been a problem. As a matter of fact I had never considered it until you just mentioned it.

RE: Hello New Member here

Welcome,
This was one of the first changes we made. Pulled the seats and table and sold them to a guy that was converting a conventional enclosed trailer to a RV. We then purchased two Lazy Boy recliners and a folding table from Camping World.
The recliners were cheaper than the WW seats. They were far more comfortable, and they double as sleepers for kids when they travel with us. The table folds down for travel, opens halfway for cocktails, or opens fully for dinner.
We just slid the chairs forward into the kitchen floor area when we carry cargo.
