Thanks all for your posts!! Sorry so long in answering, I had a tough go at work lately, a family wedding and have been a bit nuts here!!! Looks like I have to do some checking on your ideas.

Alabama help!

Just found out my son is going to UA for grad school!!:B It is a long way from home and we need some places not to far from campus to make a trip out of dropping him off in August. Then, maybe a place or two within a few hundred miles worth a couple days after we finish at the school. If you would be so kind as to help out a Northerner! Thanks!Oh, and "Roll Tide"

RE: just saying....

My favorite section as well. I like to check what others are doing, get ideas, and I enjoy when I can comment on a question and hopefully help someone enjoy their trip a bit more! (kinds makes you stop and re-enjoy a past trip, which is always a good thing)So many folks have been so very helpful to me, and it is much better to hear from one of us and get a real first hand account of what to expect from just about anywhere, or so it seems!

RE: Any disappointments??

I did think of one drawback. Every day I leave for work, I swear I can hear my HTT whisper, "call in sick, let's go to the lake." I didn't know all HTT's did this!;)

RE: Any disappointments??

Love the canvas, the open air "camping" feel, the sounds of nature(we almost always camp in state/national parks). Depends on how you will use it1 No regrets here at all, we love it!!!:B Love the canvas, or not is really the question!

RE: LED's anybody???

Jeff, I have no real figures to share, but I can say that we switched our interior lights to LEDs because we dry camp most of the time and have no genny or solar to replenish. The new lights made a difference for us as compared to previous trips that had similar usage. The solar that Golden speaks of sounds like a nice idea. Might be worth a look.

RE: Do you have a favorite National Park

DW & I would head out faster than you can say "travel trailer" if the chance presented itself. If we could pick only one park, it would be Yellowstone. Never visited a NP we didn't like. "travel trailer"!!! I wish saying it meant we could go! Love the West, and Yellowstone/Tetons are for us awful tough to beat, but Glacier is right there and we have only seen a fraction of it. We are surely blessed to have such a great park system! For the East, GSMNP is a springtime favorite!

RE: Brand Spankin' New Roo 233S!

Wow, your on your 3rd HTT! What else have you owned? Just kinda wondering your progression...Anyhow, congrats on the new rig. Looks like a real nice set up. It is amazing how a slide can open things up inside. May your 2 weeks go quickly(always seems like an eternity waiting)!

RE: I-75 Southbound Closed at mm 144

Ah, the ol' Stinking Creek Road Exit. I've always wondered how that creek got its name. :) Have wondered that as well! Thanks for asking and answering. Each year we pass by and the kids all yell "Stinkin'Creek"!! They love the name and it also signals we are getting pretty close to GSMNP. I wonder how long it will be closed?? Thanks for the info.

RE: Taking Delivery of Hybrid

Don't expect the the camper dealer to teach you how to dump the tanks or level the trailer. I respectfully disagree with that statement. That is part of the job when going through the PDI (or walk-though as some dealers phrase it) and they are more than happy to help a newby. Practically speaking, they want you to know these things and not have a bad experience. Of course, reading the manuals and following tutorials on this and other sites are necessary, too. How to dump, level, hitch up, and work all the various systems and appliances (lighting the stove, working the water heater, fridge, etc). Every dealership we ever went to showed us these things. We've even had dealers cover potential problems and how to overcome them - the old tricks like bleeding the gas lines, for example. It was quite useful early on and the OP should expect it. X2!! I expected the dealer to tell me everything I needed or wanted to know. There are plenty of things on a HTT that are new to many first time owners. I bought a used trailer and my dealer went thru everything step by step, then would ask if I had a questions before we moved on to the next item. When he had given her the once over, he then asked me if I was good to go. I had some questions on WH, as it was new to me, and he went thru it again. Did not want a blown element! He even went thru my Equalizer, which I had purchased elsewhere, to be sure I was good to go with that! I would ask any questions while you have someone there with knowledge of the product to walk you thru any concerns. It is part of the sale.

RE: Glacier National Park - Reservations

Last year St marys was never full in June, but was the first Sat in July and then every night from mid July on. BUT!! Last year campers new GTTS rd was still closed. so I am sure that has something to do with it. In 2010, June again was never full, however, July was booked for the whole month. It is a nice site that they have there to help in your planning!

RE: Glacier National Park - Reservations

GTTS rd can open at various times, but late June is a pretty good bet, but as last year showed, not a sure bet. The Glacier website shows which days and at what time each campground filled. Gives you an idea at least. If you know the dates you are going, why not just reserve?

RE: Glacier Park

US2 should be just fine, drove a couple of summers ago. Lots of folks with bigger rigs, trailers and such take that rte around Glacier that cannot drive the GTTS rd. Are you stoping by Glacier at all??? It is pretty cool, and can't imagine being right there and not visiting!

RE: First Trip Coming Up

Have a great time! Other than watching the length and slope on turns/entryways I think towing the HTT is pretty smooth with the right set up(TV, WDH etc). We did not have a WDH with the pup and did feel the trucks much more. Take 'er easy as you go and I am sure he will get it down pretty quick. Enjoy that first outing, it is kinda a big deal!!

RE: Help me shake this feeling of dread

Sounds like a good plan! Fort Wilderness should be a blast! Kids grow so very fast, and camping is a great place to get away and enjoy some real quality family time. Towing shouldn't stop you from enjoying time with your gang! Take your time, and before you know it, everything will become quite easy.

RE: Best Midwest State Parks

In Indiana, Turkey Run has always been fun. Good trails and kids love to explore the endless ravines. Ouabache was real nice as well.

RE: Best Midwest State Parks

In Wisconsin Wyalusing, Penninsula, Devils Lake, Governor Dodge, Point Beach are some our favorites. Nice open campsite at Devils Lake http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww94/rak396/Devils%20Lake%2009/2009066.jpg height=480 And really nice hiking http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww94/rak396/Devils%20Lake%2009/2009055.jpg height=480 In Michigan Really liked the Porkies, but have not really been anywhere else, but hope to get there sometime soon!

RE: 23B Water heater switches

Just read the "switches" post and a fella used a plastic tackle box door as a switch cover. Not a bad fix!

RE: Help me shake this feeling of dread

Hunt around for a good local dealer. We found a guy who is great to deal with, and we had bought our camper elsewhere.
