RE: Class "B" not for me.

GEE ours has plenty of room, theres more than one model out there, I,D not go back to a TT or a A. It has lots of ONE room. I need my own space. Storage isn't the problem. Wife likes humidity & no fan, I like dry heat w/fan. She likes TV, I like computer. In TT we have separate areas to do as we choose after a day of fun. Opposites just got attracted, I guess......

Class "B" not for me.

Wife and I purchased an American Cruiser last year. It was barely used and only 24,000 miles on a 1999. Wife saw it on a back road in an old couples yard with for sale sign. We had looked for a class "B" thinking that would be the way to go. Bought it and went thru it front to back. Got everything working and hit the road for a 10 day earlier this last summer. Had a great time but found I just can't handle being THAT close. We have a 28' TT also so went on a 7 day to the Outer Banks and really enjoyed it and the space. SO....I've decided to sell. Will probably wait till spring and advertise on the internet. I suppose if it was only me alone, I could do ok in a "B". I really don't see how you folks do it. It is alot less expensive from fuel to parking lot camping with the generator and all. I wish you all safe driving and camping..........Mike

Fantastic Vent did it again!

These guys are "Fantastic". I have one of their model 6000's with all the bells and whistles installed in my 1999 American Cruiser. The vent was installed 05-99. Last evening as a thunderstorm rolled thru the rain sensor did its job and closed the vent. It never opened again auto or manual. I called tech support "Rodney" this morning and as I write this a kit with an entire new lift system is being sent to me with directions how to install. This is being sent NO COST TO ME! They replaced the cracked dome cover last year for free even though the previous owner hit something(limb?) with it. I will always have one of their vents in anything that requires a vent. Never known a company to stand behind their products like this one......Mike

RE: Why are high tops so rare?

Wife and I looked for a "B" for atleast 5 years, that we could afford. Prices for real beatup RoadTreks and Pleasureways were still too high. Then we found(wife saw for sale in a front yard) our 1999 American Cruiser. Its a high top and fully loaded. I like the high top and my Dad had a high top Chevy way back in '74 and we only paid $6,000 more for our "B" used than he did for his new in '74! I had to spend $700 to get everything up and running like(better than)new. New drag link on the front, alignment and 2" rear spacers. Runs strong, doesn't notice big rigs and corners right with a normal height van. Too bad the "B" market has gotten away from an affordable high top van. http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r26/Gunruner1917/100_2761.jpg

RE: Tire inflators/air compressors

I have a "Campbell Hausfeld" that my wife picked up at Home Depot. I've been using it for 4 years. It is slow but you can charge it up and use it a whole trip. I just used it an hour ago to fill the air bags to 65#, top rear tires to 80 PSI and fronts to 65. It has a rechargable battery and it stays charged for a year(mine does). Use it for B camper, TT, motorcycle, HD truck and wifes Beemer. Quality unit, doesn't take up much space and was inexpensive $25..........Mike

RE: steering wander and sway

Well, I went with the same rear wheel spacers like George put on his American Cruiser. Made to order by US Wheel Adapters and came as a complete kit with lug nuts and studs pre installed. If it hadden't been for the rear, air gunned on lug nuts(200ft#+) it would have only taken me about a half hour to install. Glad I found out about the over torqued lugs before I had a flat to change alongside the road! My unit tracked fine on a 1,000 mile trip to Delaware and back but you could feel the van hunting to find the right rut when you hit deep truck rutted pavement. It was a inexpensive and easy mod so I did it. Looks WAY nicer now too as it fills out to the ground effects like the front track. Oh by the way, these are forged aluminum and add little unsprung weight to the axle. P.S. Just had the front end aligned and the drag link was bad and had to put a new one on. Seems road salt will do wonderful things to seldom used parts left uncleaned.

RE: Manual for 2001 American Cruiser?

Hi there! I own a 1999 American Cruiser and as "Handbasket" said the AC manual is the pitts. I had another guy that owned one make a copy for me and it's useless. Doesn't have any info on the water system and it's by-pass, no scematic on their electrical or cable routings. I was lucky that the other manuals were in the unit that had info on fridge/ac/LPG/etc. I couldn't find why with ground water hooked up that my on board tank was filling and over flowing. There is a HW by-pass manual valve behind a panel under the rear dinette seat and the panel is secured with 4 long wood screws(asinine). I'm putting hinges and a latch on that panel. That isn't even noted in the manual and you need to use that to winterize the unit! The manual is just a bunch of legal hogwash and with wonderful info like "we use real oak for the paneling". If you have any questions please feel free to email or PM me and I'll answer whatever I can. I love my Cruiser and wouldn't trade it for a new "B" of any type as I really like how it is setup........Mike

RE: Levelers - Do you find that you need them ?

Our American Cruiser sits tail high and thats OK as it keeps the big generator up out of harms way. One set of Lynx Levelers and a foxhole shovel,I can be level almost anywhere...Mike
