Overnight Camp Grounds

Every once in a while someone will post about the cost of staying over night and having to pay full price to have a place to stay for a few hours. Well, I found one last night. After an 850 mile day I pulled into Tucumcari NM and found the Cactus Overnight RV Park. They have full hookups with 30 and 50 AMP, cable and wifi and no pool. Their in the process of upgrading the park and the price was $21.00. We've stayed here in the past for an overnighter and we'll probably stay again if the occassion arises. The park was a motor hotel in the past and it's a registered historical site on good old Route 66. Here's their prices: $22.45 with discounts (50amp, water, sewer, Cable TV, Including Tax) $21.45 with discounts (50amp, water, sewer, Including Tax) $20.45 with discounts (30amp, water, sewer, Cable TV, Including Tax) $19.45 with discounts (30amp, water, sewer, Including Tax) $17.50 with discounts (50amp only, also Free Wireless Internet, Including Tax) $15.00 with discounts (30amp only, also Free Wireless Internet, Including Tax) $10.00 dry camping/no hookups (EZ pull-thrus, secure, any size RV, no discount cards required, Including Tax)!!! Here's the URL for the park: Cactus Overnight RV Park

RE: Phoenix, AZ RV Rally

My wife is sitting at the Martina McBride concert and loving it. I got a passport from Marcus but had to go to Canada and then down to Nappanee to pick up my MH. I made it to Tucumcari and I'm spending the night. My wife has been to each day and now wants to go to Kentucky for the June Rally. Unfortunately she visited the Newmar site, hope it doesn't end up costing me money.:)

RE: Saw this on the way home.

Actually the fire went up, even the tires look undamaged. It would be a great source for a diesel engine and trans. Do you think the chassis on your Revcon can handle the weight?:B

RE: Do you pull your toad with kayaks on it's roof?

We've got about 30K miles towing with 2 kayaks on the roof of our CRV. Of course we use Thule Racks and have never had a problem. Go with Thule Hull-a-ports or an equivalent, ours are about 13 years old and never a problem.

RE: Doggy emissions control?

Get some charcoal biscuits or treats. They will cut down on the room clearing capabilities of your pooch. We had to use them on our Dobies years ago and they definately work, Obviously I didn't read your complete post.:S Glad the new food is working out for the environment.:)

RE: How do you know your rig is ok in the cold weather?

Get a Newmar!! We also have spent time in the coach in sub 10 - 20 degree weather. We have heating pads for all water tanks so we really don't need to run the furnace to keep them from freezing. If we have adequate hookups (at least 30 AMPS) we run an electric 1500W heater on low in the bedroom and another 1500W heater on high in the living room. Usually the one in the living room has to be turned down or we get to hot. Newmar coaches (gas or DP) are built for cold weather plus they have dual pane windows which are a must for winter camping.

RE: Dishwasher or not to dishwasher....

My wife has a dishwasher in the MH and she just loves it. Of course since I'm the dishwasher I don't necessarily agree with her. Having said that, since we are in a 35' MH I would rather do the dishes that loose the space inside. Plus we use Sicilian Porcelain 50% of the time and I don't mind doing the dishes. Something to think about is the fact that a dishwasher will use less water than you will washing by hand. Consequently you'll use less space in the grey water tank. BTW - We have a dishwasher in the S&B that belongs to me and I use it every night.

RE: Route Phoenix to Las Cruces NM via US60 & US70

We've done it 3-4 times with our gasser and never had a problem. There's a couple of grades on the way to Globe from Phoenix but nothing really hard. On 70 stop at the Apache Gold Casino and get a good breakfast. They also have an RV park.

RE: Michelin Truck Tires @ Costco

Costco has been selling 22.5s for at least 2 years that I know of. The only issue is that they must order them and they do not mount and balance the 22.5 tires. I ordered and purchased 6 235/80 22.5s from Costco for $2427.29. I had them installed, mounted and balanced at a small tire dealer for $347. Total cost less than $3,000 and the date code showed that the tires were 4 weeks old.

RE: Value of a convenient overnight CG

I haven't bothered to read all of the posts so this may be redundant. Having said that, there is an overnight only CG on the first off ramp on I75 just north of I10 in Florida. We can't remember the price but it was either $12 or $15/night. We noticed others along I75 as we headed north to I10 from Ft. Meyers. This CG does not want weekly people. They very clearly stated that they were over night only. Other than those along I75 in Florida we haven't encountered any. It's too bad that this type of CG isn't more prolific.

Membership is less than $100 and you can really save on the tires. There are Cosco Warehouses all up and down 99 from Sacto to Fresno. Give them a try. I am a Coscto member, but the tires you bought aren't the same size and you still paid almost $2800. Is that small dealer going to service the tires later on? The ones I'm getting are coming from Les Schwab and they will do the install. They also fix flats or leaks for the life of the tires. I didn't ask about the motorhome tires, but I know on my truck tires they will computer balance and rotate them for free too every year. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't expect the small dealer to service my tires because we are usually on the road and no where near where we purchased the tires. If they were car tires Costco would mount and service them for as long as they are on the car. These are MH tires and those rules don't apply. When I went to a major tire dealer they wanted about $3800 out the door and that did not include annual rotate and balance. I put 47K on these tires and never rotated them or had to have a flat fixed, consequently that was never a consideration. All I did was make a suggestion that could possibly save you money if you wanted to stay with Michelins. Since you chose to purchase a different tire my suggestion really doesn't matter at all does it. BTW - Les Schwab is not nationwide and their prices on Michelins are outrageous. Consequently they were never on my short list. Good luck with your Toyo's. They have a good reputation on this forum.

I used these folks in 2005 and there was no charge for the estimate. They got the job and did an outstanding job on our MH. Bump & Grind Auto Body (603) 642-8405 12 New Boston Rd, Kingston, NH 03848

RE: Opinion of a 2006 Newmar Mountain Aire 3570

Dale.Traveling hit the nail on the head. I have the 04 3501 and the onyt thing I would change is the chassis. We have the W22 and the 06 has the W24. You also have the extra slide in the living room/kitchen. Go for it.

RE: Milo's Kitchen - Chicken Treats From China

Go Dogs wrote: How did you find out the treats were made in China if the manufacturer says they are made in USA? How many manufacturers use ingredients from other countries,(pet and human)? Regarding Milo's Treats -- It's listed on the packages. Some say made in USA, some say made in China. It's listed on their web site. Look under FAQs. They also state that there is no real evidence that ckicken treats from China are causing the deaths so they will not recall the treats. My dogs get no treats from China. I've attempted to get the ingrediant source information from the manufacturers, but so far no one will give that out. Typically they just don't respond to the email. If they don't respond to the email, I take that as an admission of guilt and do not purchase from them.
