RE: Cash? What Is This Cash Thing You Talk About?

MANY, MANY years ago, (1979/80) in Wuerzburg had a hostage situation, had 2.4 MILLION in 20's and 50's we had to count and verify. That was 2 duffel bags worth. The suspect never lived to see his ransom.

RE: Another WWII Vet is gone

Thoughts and prayers with you Rick. I was just doing some mental thinking: The youngest of the WWII vets would now be 84/85, to have been old enough to be in the service at the end of the war??? Lee

RE: Water Fill Tank

My guess??? Hooked into the black tank flusher. The hose bibs are close enough to each other that a mistake like that can be made. Should be a valve/handle by the water intake, says things like "city/gravity" or "fresh/tank". That's the line you want. Tank flusher bib usually has a cap of some kind to prevent "dumb things". However, we ALL KNOW........ __it happens. Lee

RE: Filling fresh water tank

Not that I'm aware of. It's full when you have water running out of the overflow line, usually just behing the rear axles, utility side. And welcome to RV'ing. Lee

RE: East Coast trip in November / December

Philly and DC should not be a problem, but further north could be. PM me, I'm in Dover, DE and know the area pretty well. Lee

RE: Cedar Creek 34rlsa owners

Having just bought our 3d Cedar Creek, I think your making a smart move. Maybe biased because we belong to www.cedarcreekrvownersclub.com along with 3-4 trips thru the factory.. Don't think you can get better support and we have rigs with 40 to 50K miles in tow. Lee

RE: Air Bags Needed?

kab449 has the right answer: Not so much for lift (but that's nice), but it sure took out a lot of bounce and smoothed out the trip. Had Timbrens, not bad, but went to a heavier trailer last fall. Airbags did a great job for me.

RE: How much travel for front stabilizer jacks on a fifth wheel?

DO NOT let it go to the "click/skip" mode. Been there, done that, replaced and repaired he jacks. The shear pins snap and cause all kinds of problems. Lee

RE: Water heater not working

Had the same problem earlier this year. Turned out to be failure to turn a knob inthe correct position. A $100.00 stupidity move on my part. Bought a new electric element, then had to have Camping World install it the next day (I don't play well with gas lines). Now that I saw how repair was made, I'll do it myself next time (if there is one). Check te by-pass vales, that's my guess.

RE: in bed aux fuel tanks

In the process right now (his week), installing a 36gal transfer tank. 300.00 at Tractor supply, and 250.00 for the electric pump (dispenser hose). It's about 10 inches thick, width of the bed and just under the rails. Gives me the choice of getting fuel WHEN I want, not a case of HAVE TO.

RE: Grey Tank Sizes

Gonna tell you from first hand experience: get a 4 wheel unit in the 18-20 gal size, and make whatever trips are necessary to the dump station. I bought a 32 gal size, with the same thoughts you have, and it's UGLY, trying to move that thing, even from the discharge to the hitch on the truck. Size DOES matter, and smaller is better, trust me.

Carrier/bike rack addition

My 2012 Cedar Creek came with a receiver at the back. Wanted to carry a bike or 2, Generator and possibly the "blue boy". Added two receivers, added hitches to match on the carrier. Not built to tow, but to carry. Adds about 30 inches to over all length.

RE: Leveling the 5er.......

I'm with Texas Train on this. Un-hook, push the "auto-level" button, give it 2 minutes, grab the remote and open the slides, water, cable, power, and we're done. 10 minutes from un-hook to done. And the terminology has changed, at least for us: RV'ing. Camping involves a tent, sleeping bag, trips to the "outhouse". and cooking over the fire. Don't get me wrong, we still cook over the fire, WHEN WE WANT TO.

RE: The Basics. What do I NEED vs want...

Good list, now for the 2d part of your question. Been back and forth the TP a few times, found a nice campground at Bedford, PA. Can't remember the name but it was about a mile off the TP. Nice place right along a stream.

RE: Blowing out the lines

I'm with Donn on this. Sanitize, flush, rinse and go for it. Maybe my body has more immunity from being around the world a time or two, but unless your taking the water from a drain pool or pasture pond, water from a spigot is water, particularly in a camppground.

RE: Generator

Tomorrow,I'm installing a tray on the back of my rig, adding to an existing receiver. Will carry he Honda 3000, bikes and "blue boy". Since my plug-in is at the back of the RV, this will work fibe with Gen to 30 pigtail, plugged into a 50/30 adapter. The Honda has to be outside to run and with the exhaust vents as they are, an exhaust stack is not feasible. Will try to photo when done.

RE: Any weak points to watch out for in the Dodge Ram diesels?

Old truck (2004.5) with 111,000 miles. Electronic brain and fuel pump replaced. Added a PAC brake. Towing get's in the 12's, if I behave. Towing 15K. Now if Ram would offer the Long Hauler for sale, I might be interested:B

RE: Cedar Creek 36RE or Pinnacle 36REQS

Another vote for CC. We're on our 3d. No problems with the first two, (other than operator stupidity:S:S) Looked at the RE but bought the CKTS and absolutely love it. Ours has the Explorer package (hitch receiver, Trump bed, level-up system, central vac, 7K axles and "G" rated tires, bigger fridge, all the bells and whistles momma wanted). Factory support is outstanding. Then again, I may be biased as I belong to the Cedarcreekrvownersclub.com and there's not a better bunch of folks to gather/travel with. Lee

RE: New CC Silverback 35QB4

As Mike said, Forest River builds GREAT units with the Cedar Creek & Silverback. We're now in our 3d CC in 10 years. Factory support is great and those Rallies will fix most anything. I think you'll find that you've made a GREAT purchase. Lee PS. Guess I'm a little biased as I belong to the same club Mike does.

RE: Expressions learned from my mother

If you feel "froggy", jump. Usually heard when I was told to do something, (trash out, dishes, etc) and my response would be "in a minute".
