RE: Would you travel for a better deal?

Wow, thanks for all the feedback! Its great to see people getting great deals and willing to travel for it. I did the same thing last year and took the 10 hour round trip to save 32% off my trailer. I tried to give the dealer the option of match +$300 (fuel cost) and the salesman laughed at me, even after speaking to his owner. If this was the norm across the nation then people could expect to save a lot of money instead of getting taken by high profit motivated dealerships. Imagine how much profit the average deal brings them? I'm all for a dealership making a profit, but not extaordinary profits to the tune of $6000 or $7000 for a mid price range trailer.

Would you travel for a better deal?

Hi, I'm curious if people are willing to travel for the right deal on a major purchase like an RV. Say you are in the market for a new TT, 5th Wheel, or RV and you can save 20% or more at a dealership 5 hours away (10 hr roundtrip). Or you could save 30% on the unit you want but it is 7-10 hrs away (14-20 roundtrip). Would you take the trip to save the money?

No heat... Suburban Heater

Great camping trip last week, but woke up cold every night. LOL 1st night- We camped off a fire service road until the state parks opened the next day. The battery died sometime in the night. No problem. Borrowed my father in law's generator. 2nd night- On shore power. Propane bottle empty. No problem. Switched tank. 3rd night- Problem! On shore power, gas to stove is working. Blower turns on but no flame. Blower runs for 10- 15 seconds and stops. It is a Suburban Heater in a 2010 Heartland North Country. I don't have the model number handy right now. Any suggestions? It is under Suburban Warranty, but I was wondering if there is something I can check before going that route. Thanks in advance!

Darn it!

I just recently bought a new (used)Ford F-250 and I didn't want to assume that the truck had 12V power at the plug to charge the TT battery like I did on my GMC when I drove it for 2 months without charging the battery. So, I break out the multimeter and disconnected the TT's positive from the battery. Then I drop it and it shorts against the frame sending a very clear signal that it did in fact have a fuse instead of a blank. It cost me $5 to replace it. LOL Go figure!

De-winterized! Almost ready to go!

De-winterized the trailer today. I've been stressing about the waterpump since I didn't drain it and we had a much colder than normal winter this year. Turns out, the waterpump is fine, but the toilet valve ruptured. Good thing the valve is only $30. I guess I will be disconnecting the water supply to the toilet to drain the valve next winter. Got the new Prodigy Brake Controller installed in the new truck as well. We are ready to roll. First trip in two weeks!
