Sulfur smell

I just finished dealing with a musty smell from the a/c unit and discovered the evaporator coils needed a good cleaning. Done that and all is well now.
My neighbor just came over inquiring what a sulfur smell would be that he now discovers when walking into his rig. He checked for rotten eggs in fridge and his battery compartment but all was okay there. I told him to check his a/c coils but that wouldn't be a sulfur smell.
Any ideas of what to check? Had the issue?
Thanks

Liquid Drano

My RV service manager suggested it would be a good idea to annually pour some Liquid Drano, or similar brand that indicates "safe for plastic piping", down the black water tank to give it a real good cleansing and break up any pyramiding that might be building up there.
Good idea ~ bad idea ?? Anyone else doing that?

RE: Winfield Stabilizers

I agree ... great product ... use on my 5er and love the ease of install and the results of their use.
I also bought ... and love their wheel chocks ... Yes, you can get cheaper ones, but if you hold both in your hands you throw out the lighter weight/construction ones for the Winfields ... and even better .... you don't need to keep track of a ratchet wrench to install them. The built in knob at the top makes it a breeze to put on and off.
Good job Winfred ....

RE: Air Conditioner odor

Yo Big Katuna ~ you were a BIG help man ... thanks.
I climbed up there ... took off the cover and removed the sheet metal covering ... and that pic you gave a link to was helpful in understanding what I was looking at. Those fins covering the coils were covered with yuck ... and I could immediately smell the mold smell we had inside.
Wife plugged in the central vac and passed it up the opening from inside and sucked most of that******out ... then sprayed with lysol cleaner and gently scrubbed fins with brush .... then another quick lysol spray. Actually got it all put back together with no extra parts, and works great with a little lysol smell inside for a short while.
Thanks Big ... God bless

Air Conditioner odor

We are wintering in Florida from MA and just needed to crank up the A/C for the first time since out of storage. Last used in August/Sept.
Soon as we turned on ... a musty (maybe moldy ?? ) smell coming out of the ceiling vents. I clean the foam filter located in the ceiling unit regularly so that's not a problem. Is there another filter on the roof unit I'm not aware of? Sort of looks like a sealed unit up there though.
Suggestions on removing smell ??
Thanks

Fleetwood

Hmm ~ just heard from my local dealer when I took my 2008 Fleetwood Regal in for service that they just heard Fleetwood, who went out of the 5'er business in 2009 in favor of their popular Class A's only ... are going back into the 5'er business.

Coming to Cape Cod?

If you're thinking of RVing to Cape Cod, feel free to pick my brain for good recommendations in the area ... I work part time, when not RVing around the country, for the Chamber of Commerce's Visitor Center here and would be glad to help you out.
Heck, I have a great job ... now I get paid to tell people where to go !! :)

RE: extended warranty

Well, I got the 5 year warranty on my 2009 Fleetwood 5'er and have used it twice. Once for a new hot water heater that went on me first year ... and the 2nd time just this week. The rig is in the shop for a problem with TWO slides that stopped working within 3 weeks of each other ... gearbox problems ... and warranty insurance company (Protective) says get it fixed, as slides are covered. Whew.
On another point though ... my 5 year warranty cost was $1700 ... and I negotiated hard with the salesman to throw it in ... and they finally did. It did NOT cost the dealer $1700 for sure !!

Discolored siding

Anyone else have this discoloration problem?
Our Fleetwood 5'er is only 2 years old and several of the white exterior doors started to yellow horribly last year. Replacement doors were very costly, so the dealer suggested trying to have their repair shop paint them to match best they could. They did, and it worked fine. This year, same doors, different area that was not painted last year has yellowed terribly, and another door started the same.
The garage is repainting them for me as I type this !! I can repaint about 4 times for the cost of a new door. No idea though why it's happening. Dealer thinks bad pigmentation in original paint from factory and sun is now doing this.
Wierd ....
