RE: Mosquito aversion

Grew up in Michigan and there were plenty of mosquito's but not sure about this time of year.
I remember once we camped in Colorado near lakes and there were many mosquito's. My husband suggested that we move to a campground near a running river and we did not encounter any mosquitoes. So maybe if you journeyed by moving water instead of a stationery lake? Not sure if this was a coincidence or not.

RE: Total Knee Replacement Recovery

I had my total knee surgery in June of 2009. I was in pain for 6 weeks. The generic Vicodin made me terribly depressed so I stopped it but it took a good five days to get out of my system. After PT for 4 weeks I was doing well. Even camped in Colorado.
It sounds like you did remarkably well, pain-wise.
I would definitely keep going back to your surgeon and with a list of questions. If not satisfied I would consult another surgeon and get a second opinion.
I didn't care for the first doctor who treated my knee pain. A friend who is a PT recommended the doctor who did my surgery and I was very happy with him. She told me that his patients always did well post-op. So if you need a second opinion you might want to ask a PT.
Your body will get used to the pain medications and then they will not be as effective. I was able to stop pain meds for my knee after about 2 months (I was just taking Aleve after I stopped the Vicodin).
After knee surgery the blood pools down (gravity) and so you might have some dark spots. I still have one on my inner ankle but I don't care.
Good luck to you and keep us posted.

RE: you have got to be kidding me

Yup! We have used GS Roadside twice when we locked ourselves out of our van while camping. We don't leave home without it!

RE: When are you ready to go home?

Our master bathroom at home is larger than our whole Class B! We do try to spend as much time outdoors as we can. I love being outdoors.
You need to camp in a Class B for two weeks...you will LOVE your TT!

RE: traving with dogs

Can't think of any problems you might have except (as mentioned) the breed.
On a rainy day things might get kind of cramped in your Class B but you can make it work.
Smudge goes everywhere with us but he is only about 12 pounds

RE: When are you ready to go home?

We take two week trips in the summer in our Class B and I am never ready to come home. I think one of the reasons is that we travel to Colorado in the summer and when we drive back to Texas it is too hot.
We do, however, often break up our trip by staying one night in a motel in the middle of our trip. That helps.
Our weekend trips are too short but that's life when you are not yet retired.

RE: Bought a Roadtrek 190 P

Welcome! We have a Dodge, too, although I am not sure what the engine is numbered (you'd think I would know after ten years!) My mechanic said that it should run for another 100,000 miles. We only have 86,000 miles on it. I drive it almost every day. Had 18,000 miles on it when we purchased it.
Also, one of the best toys we own...have to include the boat in that category, too.
On Edit: It's a Dodge 360 Engine

From Merriam-Webster.....Definition of Camp:

2: to live temporarily in a camp or outdoors —often used with out
3: to take up one's quarters : lodge
4: to take up one's position : settle down —often used with out
transitive verb
: to put into a camp; also : accommodate
We:
Camp in a small, hard-sided unit.
Take our dog.
Follow the rules...not just in matters pertaining to our dog.
Enjoy camping next to friendly people who also like to camp in a tent or any other type of unit

RE: How much longer is the drive in an RV?

I agree with the person who suggested leaving the night before. We try to do that on our summer trips. We try to put four to five hours behind us. Then we get a good night's sleep and start as early as we can the next morning.
We are both in our sixties now and driving more than 500 miles per day is tiring for us. Actually, 400 miles is getting to be tiring, too.
We drove a Class C when we were in our thirties and early forties. I think that our "record" for the longest day was over 700 miles. We were all tired and grouchy at the end of our day and it was not pleasant.
Another reason for us (it's just the two of us now) leaving in the afternoon is that I don't sleep well the night before a morning departure. So I pack during the day and have everything ready when my husband gets home from work. I know this might not work for everyone but it helps us.
We also have a dog so we make stops every two to three hours.
We drove a 24 foot Holiday Rambler and I don't remember there being a lot of noise.
