RE: Do solid or louvered floor vent covers exist?

I bought some covers made out of the flexiable magnet material from Walmart. They look just like a real vent but are solid and just lay over top of the vent. You have to look real hard to see that they are not real vents. I use one in the living room of my Fuzion for when I have the inflatablke be set up because the bed sits on top of one of the vents and I didn't want the hot air blowing on the bottom of the air bed.

RE: Champion Generator

Had mine for 4 years now, use it for the NASCAR week in the summer and makes a great standby unit in the winter. Ran my house and my neighbors for a week straight during the ice storm a couple years ago. I put a second 30amp RV outlet in my garage and bought a used 30amp extension cord off craig's list. Now if we lose power, I just back feed the house and I have the critical ckt breakers marked to keep the fridge, heat etc. going. Got mine at Tractor Supply for $269. Cheap piece of mind for me.. Not trying to be a smart A__ but hope you are using a generator transfer switch if you are hooking your generator up to you house circut. It is not only required by law but also a real safety hazard for your local power people that might be working on the lines. With out a generator transfer switch you will be back powering not only your house but the line that feeds your house.

RE: New vs Used

If you decide to go new, you will be hard pressed to find a lower price than Holmans in Batavia. I have bought from them three times and have always been treated great. Have always had excellent service from their service dept and parts dept.

RE: Finally Got The Toy Hauler Home

Very nice rig. I use to have a 35ft Work and Play 5th wheel and I loved it. They are built like a tank and I really like the lower floor height for loading. The only reason we traded for our current one is for the slide outs. I would have had to go to a 43 footer in the W&P to get a slide out at the time I bought mine.

RE: Our New Toy House

Nice looking set up. I know you will enjoy it. When spending your own money you never have to justify it to anyone but the DW. LOL Don't let the wise guys run you off. Too many good guys on here to let the bad ones ruin it for you.

RE: Additional Jack Stabilizer????

I installed the JT's on my TH and love them. They are not that hard to install and save yourself the labor cost. Took me about 3 hours to do.

RE: Cody, WY Campgrounds

We just got back from two weeks in Cody and stayed at the KOA. We had a big site on the end of a row close to the pool. Had a great time and they have free pancake breakfast every morning. They also have a free bus to the Rodeo every night. We had a patio site which cost a little more but worth it. I you have a pet and don't want to take it into Yellowstone (which I don't reccomend) there is a real nice Doggy day care close by. They charge $10 a day but take very good care of your furry friend.

Trip to Yellowstone

Just got back from our two week trip to Yellowstone and Cody, Wy. Great trip. We had to go through Kansas, Nebraska up to South Dakota because of the flooding on I-29. The roads in Kansas and Neb weren't that bad but the heat and wind were bad. 110 degrees in Neb on the way home with a 30 MPH head wind. I do have one compliant thought. Avoid Indiana at all cost. I-70 through there is like driving off road. You better have a solid unit or it will fall apart around you on that road. Also have a beef with the way the advertise fuel prices. They have big signs on the interstate with the price of Diesel and under it in small print is the tax exempt statement. When you pull into a truck stop and try to use the diesel pumps for trucks some truck stops will not let you use them at all and they all add 30 cents a gallon to the posted price which brings it to $4.07 a gal as opposed to the car diesel pumps which were $3.87. I told the manager at one station that I could not get my 35ft 5th wheel into the car pumps and he didn't care so I went across the street and they did let me use the truck pumps but again added 30 cents state tax to the price which makes it 20 cents more than the price at the car pumps. You would thank that a state that relies on the RV industry for a bigh part of their economy would be more accomadeting to RVers. I will either avoid Indiana or if that is not possible then I will fill up in Ohio or Il and skip fueling in Indiana. Other than the problems in Indiana, this was a great trip. Saw lots of bears and other wild life. Weather in Yellowstone was great with lots of snow still around.

RE: Bummer

I'm sure you have your route planned, but a really cool way into Yellowstone we used last year from the East was 90 to Buffalo Wy. then over to Ten Sleep and Worland in to Cody. Very scenic and doable with TH in tow. Enjoy the trip! Thanks, we have been that way before and it is a beautiful drive and in fact we are going that way again this year. have to pick up grandaughters in Rapid City and then over to Cody.

RE: Bummer

All is well. My local trailer parts store had the entire brake assembly on the shelf. $76.00 later and a bearing repack and i am back in business. I am saved from the wrath of seven girls that were going to be upset big time if we had to cancel the trip. Custom Cab and Trailers in Jamestown, Ohio is my new hero. Off to Yellowstone in the morning.

Deer Creek State Park in Ohio has it's own golf course. Quartz Mountian State Park in Oklahoma does also.

Bummer

Man if I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any luck. I was getting the Fuzion ready for our Saturday dep to Yellowstone and was under the 5th wheel checking the pressure in the spare when I noticed grease on the inside of the right front wheel. Closer inspection showed that the grease seal had blown out and the entire brake system was covered with grease. In addition to that one of the brake shoe hold down spring s was missing, the adjuster was laying loose in the brake assembly and the magnet is broke. I did not find any damage to the drum or spindle. I just got back from a 1600 mile trip and never felt any problem and everytime I checked the hubs at rest stops with my temp gauge there was no abnormall readings. Now I have to scramble around tomorrow and try to find an new brake assembly. I have a trailer parts place just down the road that I hope will have it in stock. If not I am 50 miles from Holman and hopefully they will have it. You would think that between Cincinatti, Columbus and Dayton I should be able to find it. It is a dexter 7000 pound axel with a 12x2 brake. Anybody got any ideas.

RE: Route west

Thanks for all the inputs. I like the Idea of rt 2 through Neb up to 385 then 79 to Rapid City. Anybody know if there are any low bridges on rt 2? I am at 13 feet. The last time I drove I 80 through Neb it was real rough in spots. That's been a few years ago though. I don't mind taking non interstate roads as long as they aren't too congested. Sometimes the back roads are in better shape than the interstates plus I don't drive over 60 mph anyway.

Route west

We are leaving Saturday morning for Yellowstone from Ohio. We have to pick up one daughter in St.Louis and another in Rapid City. I usually go through Iowa to I-29 up to I-90 but with I-29 and I-680 closed because of flooding, I am thinking about I-70 from St. Louis to Kansas then US 81 up to Neb and I-90 over to US 83 up to I-90 in South Dakota. Anybody driven this route? Anybody have an other suggestions? Towing a 35ft 5th wheel. Thanks

RE: 5th Wheel seems really rocky, shaky, shimmies

X3 on the strongarms. Installed them on my Fuzion and they made all the difference in the world.
