RE: POLL: WOULD YOU BUY THE SAME TRUCK AGAIN

Sure I would if I ever wear out this one. He only has 23,938 miles on him and likes to stay in the garage unless he out towing his TT or carrying the canoes.

RE: Magellin Roadmate RV9145

It appears that the 9145 does not have bluetooth. I had a 9165T and the campground coordinates weren't always right, I didn't trust it. I purchased a Rand-McNalley RVND7710 and am very happy.

RE: Generator Selection

Mike,
Nice rig. If you have a 15K air conditioner then the Yamaha is needed. I have a 13.5K and my twin Honda 2000's work fine, and Yamaha makes a nice 2000 also that you can parallel.
Have Fun.

RE: RVND 7710 Did I loose a screw?

If you are talking about the bright brass that you can see by the top latch, I believe it is part of the antenna. Do not try to remove or attach anything to it.

RE: DIY oil changes on the road

Why not go to a high milage synthetic oil and filter and change it once a year?

RE: Buy HD2500/F250 over HD3500/F350? Why?

I was just checking out the 2500HD's vs the 3500HD's and the only way the 3500HD's come is with a long bed. So if you are in the market for a shorter truck the 2500HD's are your only option if you are in the GM camp.

RE: Airbags versus heavier duty truck question

Bottom line here is make sure that the camper is well within the capacity of the truck carrying it. If there is an accident, your fault or not a good lawyer will make hay with the fact that the truck was overloaded and you were the one that overloaded the truck.

RE: chevrolet 3500 6.0 liter gas

I have an 05 Silverado 3500, 6.0 with 4.10's and carried a Northstar Arrow 8.5 for 3 years. I installed Timbrens and the total weight was 9630lbs. ready to go and I averaged 11+ mpg. It was a nice combination but DW wanted more room and a couch. Now we tow an Arctic Fox 25R and get 10 mpg..

RE: Which generator

Grizz,
If you like Yamaha, then buy 2 of the 2000 watt units and link them up to run the A/C. When you don't need 2 units you can just bring 1 along. I have 2 Honda 2000's, the dealer is a personal friend, and I use 1 of the units around the property for running electrical, saw, trimmer etc. As I get older the 45+ lb. Honda/Yamaha is a lot easier to handle by myself. The Yamaha has a smaller motor but the rated life of the engine is a bit longer than the Honda.

RE: long term storage of diesel

I ran into a guy that services diesel standby generators and he has developed a system where he "polishes" the diesel fuel. By running it thru a series of filters and moisture removers and he claims that the fuel is actually better than the day it was put into the vehicle.
I would condition the fuel and change the fuel filters after you run the old fuel out.

RE: RAND MCNALLY RVND 7710

Nathan,
I believe the lifetime maps are around $80.00, I had the new Magellan 9165T and sent it back because the Good Sam campground that I stay at had the wrong address and told me to drive 19 miles east of the actual location. Couldn't trust the unit. Get the RVND 7710.

RE: Generator

Get a Honda or Yamaha because they are quiter, more economical, parts if necessary are avaliable any where, and best of all their not made in China.

RE: RAND MCNALLY RVND 7710

Bought my 7710 from Camping World with lifetime maps. Used it today to go to various customers in 3 different counties and it worked perfectly. Can't wait to use it RVing this coming summer, 2012.
