RE: TC and bike racks...

I use the Thule Revolver along with a receiver hitch extension. Works great. Swings out of the way for door opening....on my TC.

RE: Outfitter - where is the electric jack control board?

Mine is inside the area where you access the battery box...under the dinette....along with the water pump, etc.

Pretty cool! And quite a refreshing solution to the "bigger is always better" attitude we have here.

RE: Boat rack on a pop up?

I've got the same Yakima rack that Whazoo & Crosscheck have. They used a lot of screws and Dicor sealant at the factory. I bet a phone call to Outfitter would tell you if there are any areas on the roof to avoid putting in the screws. Sounds like I load my kayak similar too Crosscheck. I've got a rope attached to the bow of my kayak and pull it up while standing on the roof. It goes up pretty easy and it's a 75lb tandem kayak.
Thanks. I got good tips from Outfitter when I was mounting my solar panel. I'll mount the rack into the aluminum square tubing using the same rivnuts that I used for the solar panel. Those rubber/brass inserts previously mentioned in this thread don't hold virtually any load at all.
What bums me out is that my solar panel will either have to be moved to accomodate two touring kayaks or one kayak will block the panel when driving. Oh well..."stuff" happens.

RE: Boat rack on a pop up?

DJ, I use the Yakima racks on my roof. I'm not saying you should, just that they work for me. I also have the easy boat loader that slides out of a crossbar. Front and rear crossbars have rubber stops for the canoe to rest on. "sstan" has the neatest boat loader I've seen, it's electric and loads the boat itself. I don't have pictures though, you'd have to pm him for that.

Wazoo, I know this thread is old but I'm planning for spring and want to put a Yakima rack on my Outfitter. Right now the ice is 3 feet thick, the temp is -20, and the "feels like" (new word for windchill) temp is -50. Gotta have something positive to think about!
Anyhow, some requests for you:
1) Can you post some pics of how you mounted the rack to your roof?
or
2) Just tell me?
thanks!

RE: The Truck Camper is a Great Bug Out RV!

Ditto. Staying right here. And hoping to be right under the nuke if that's what happens. Otherwise, the first moose that comes by is jerky.
I think I'd have a good view of the fireworks given that part of the BMDS is just south at Ft. Greeley.
BTW, I store gas in plastic jugs for at least 9 months. No issues. Mind you, most of that is at temps from below to way below freezing.
Uh, forget that I said I have gasoline stored....no gasoline, no food, no weapons, no nothing at my house.....just one little package of freeze-dried tofu.
Honest!

RE: Why can't we...?

I've never ever had my TC slide back. And I put mine directly on the slippery plastic bed liner. Maybe it's the Torklift tie downs I use that make it so rock solid. And you can see the tiedown angle in my signature pics.

RE: backup camera

I bought one these wireless cameras. It came with a small monitor but I use the camera in conjunction with my 7" back up camera monitor. Most of the wireless systems are all the same frequency and will work off of the different monitors. The camera has a magnetic mount and its rechargeable. Once charged up it last for months. I keep it in the center console and if I need it I just turn it on and stick it to anything metal on the truck. I use mine mostly for hooking up trailers but no reason it would not work for alignment in loading a TC.

I bought a Swift Hitch and use in guiding the camper onto the truck. I still do one "get out and take a look" session. I also use it for trailer hitch hookup, looking behind things that are too big to move, down pipes, etc. It's a real handy device! And it's not a fisheye lens so what you see is what you get.

RE: Popup owners, can you do this unpopped?

With the top down, I can:
-access everything except the main bed and storage underneath.
-use the toilet
-cook a meal on the stove
-use the sink
-access the fridge
-take a nap on the dinette (I've removed the table permanently)
No issues using the TC with the top down.

RE: My new Razor on St Anthony Dunes

DJ, are those dunes in Idaho?
Yes. St Anthony is in Eastern Idaho.
Idaho is very diverse. We even have a Submarine Base!!!! :B
Shhhh! You're not supposed to tell anyone about that!
And I think he means NRF

RE: Solar Panels on a Pop-up TC

I've got one 120 watt panel on my pop-up. The weight issue isn't an issue. And up here, with lots of solar input all summer, I don't need to run the generator at all on most trips when I have clear skies. Mind you, I don't use a microwave, don't have a TV, don't use the radio. The inverter does get used for an AC hair dryer. And my fridge is a 12v compressor (Tundra Fridge). I have two 100ah AGM batteries with a MPPT solar controller and a Xantrex Prosine 1800w inverter. I have LED lights throughout.
I've posted pictures of my installation in other posts.
I might add another panel in the future just because.
Hope this helps.

RE: A sad day

I am thankful I live in Southern California and don't have to winterize and can camp all year around.
I am thankful we moved OUT of So Cal and live here in Idaho where we have to winterize:B

RE: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

I reinstalled the repaired Happijac motor on one jack and plugged the shore power in to top up the batteries.

RE: Happijac wired controller

Hi Don,
No, don't mind at all. I was quoted 59.95 flat rate to fix "electronic components: of the Happijac system.
I think that's a deal since a new remote is about $175, I think.

RE: Happijac wired controller

Thanks to all of you who replied! :R
Should anyone have a similar problem in the future, here's a solution:
Happijac will repair your jack electronic components for a flat rate. All you have to do is call or email them. And they are very quick to respond.

Happijac wired controller

Have any of you had your Happijac wired controller go bad? I went to unload my TC and the controller started doing it's own thing. Turns out there was condensation inside and after drying it out, it's now dead.
Any suggestions of places with good prices for a replacement?
