RE: New to class B's

We know many B owners and all have water heaters with the exception of one couple who chose not to have water in their B. To me the biggest advantage to a water heater is being able to take hot showers aand wash dishes. If that is not a concern, you could always heat water for quick wash/ups and doing dishes.
Don't know any one with an American Cruiser but they have been a topic on the forum recently. Do a search to see comments.
Enjoy the B life.

RE: Portable Ovens

surgtech56,
The one I have is no longer available but you can check online for convection toaster ovens at Bed Bath & Beyond, Walmart, Amazon, Overstock, Costco, etc. The ones by Oster and Cuisinart get good ratings. It's a good idea to measure the area you have to store the oven. Mine is a tight fit in one of the lower cabinets but the smaller ones don't work well as an oven.
Send me a Private Message if you have questions.

RE: Coeur D'Arlene, Idaho Campgrounds

In 2008 we stayed at Riverwalk RV Park for one night. It was clean, quiet, well maintained and convenient location. We are Passport America members and they are a participating park with their rate being about $15.00 a night. Not sure about amenities for children but if you are going to be elsewhere during the day, it may not matter.

RE: Portable Ovens

surgtech56,
Have you considered a small convection/toaster oven? We carry a good size toaster oven (not convection). The regular size T/O's don't work well as ovens. You need something taller. I have roasted, baked, and broiled in ours and of course use it for toast, bagels, heating pizza, warming rolls, open faced sandwiches, and things you don't like heated in the microwave. Our Blass B motorhome has a small kitchen area and limited storage space so whatever we take is usually multi purpose. I know someone that even bakes bread in their Black & Decker convection T/O.

RE: dishes vs paper plates

Like a lot of you, we use both. If it is just us we use the real thing. At rallies and pot-luck's we use throw away as some utensils have been taken by mistake.

RE: What's for dinner?

Tonight it's roasted chicken breast, roasted red skin, parmesan, garlic potatoes, asparagus, and leftover Tiramisu Pie.
We are cleaning out the fridge and freezer getting ready to RV back to MD so who knows what interesting meals we'll be having the next couple of days.

RE: What's for dinner?

Tonight we had 4 quest for dinner, two of them are vegetarian's. I made "Spicy Vegetables with Penne Pasta", a Romaine, Ceasar, type salad, Five Grain Italian Bread and Tiramisu Toffee Trifle Pie. The pasta and pie are old recipes from Southern Living and are on their website.

RE: PPL MOTOR HOMES - Houston, Texas

I have been following this topic and the PPL website shows the American Cruiser has been sold.
Many happy and trouble free miles, ruwth, if you are the new owner.

RE: Found the most compact and lightweight camping chair.

We have been using the GCI Express Lounger for a few years and it is comfortable and opens and closes in about 5 seconds. In fact after seeing ours about 6 couples from out LTV Chapters have purchased them. We have had to become creative so we can tell them apart when we gather at our rallies. Love that they fold flat and store under our electric sofa along with our small fold up table.

RE: Sold on cast iron cooking

Another advantage for CI, it can be used on an induction burner. I don't have any of the old pieces but do have some preseasoned and porcelain. Don't use them everyday but love them for certain foods.

RE: Essential repair parts?

We went in the summer of 2010 in our 2005 LTV Sprinter. We carried nothing extra, just our spare tire and normal tools. If you are concerned about hoses and filters, have them checked before the trip and enjoy your adventure.
I did read the article mentioned in one of the other posts and found it very accurate.

RE: Class B bedding

We use a queen Travasak. That company is no longer in business but the Superbag is a similar product.

RE: Looking for Rear Kitchen/Rear Bathroom

ruwth,
I understand your confusion. B's are van conversions. C's are built on a truck chassis. It does not matter weather there is a bed over the cab or not. Some C's have storage in that area, not a bed. I think manufacturers and dealers do a disservice when they call a RV a B when they are actually C's. Too bad we can't get this standardized.

RE: Holiday Rambler Augusta Sport 210

We saw the Augusta in January at the RV Show in Tampa. It is a C, built on a Ford truck chassis, not a B. You may want to post on the C Forum. I know a lot of manufacturers call their units B, B+ or C- but to my understanding true B's are van conversions. The Augusta is not.
It was a very nice floorplan and the show price was about $60,000. I think it was the least expensive 25ft. C we saw there.

The info online for the one in Gainsville sounds very good with lots of pictures. If I were closer to Gainsville I would check it out for you.

RE: Lake Manatee SP vs Highland Hammock

We have camped at Highlands Hammock with a rally group four years in a row. We all enjoy the park and campground. Lots of areas for bike riding. If you go there be sure to take the guided tram ride through the hammock.

RE: Grand Canyon North Rim

We have been able to get sites at all the NP's mentioned here and many others without reservations. It was in September though, not June. We arrived early in the day and at the North Rim we did have to wait about one half hour until the vacated sites were processed into the computer. The only park we could not get a site was Arches and we stayed at a private CG near there.

RE: Good Sam Membership Cards?

It took months for us to receive the regular card etc. but we did have a temporary card to use in the meantime. Our membership was only $12.00 and we received a refund check for $25.00 for our free night at a GS Park. We also belong to PA and use it whenever we can when traveling.

RE: What to pick for weekend trips/hiking

Having owned a LTV Sprinter Class B for 6 years, it seems it would fill all your requirements and then some. They are expensive but fuel economy is good. You might look for a good used Sprinter or other B or check out Sportsmobile that customizes vans to your needs.
