RE: Front Caps and Towing

It works for me. I can get the 88 degrees they advertise with my Enduramax and my Ford F350 CCSB.

RE: Well I did it. $2,000 hit cab of truck forgot to use slider

My wife calls a short box truck a "half truck"! For us, a 4X4 crewcab long box or no truck at all! Funny, my wife calls a long bed truck an "ugly truck"! Had a slider for a few years and never needed it because a lot of the new trailer's front caps are built for short bed trucks. I can turn 90 degrees without hitting in my SB no problem without the slider. Just depends on the rig setup.

RE: Sensor at bottom of entrance door?

Could also be alarm contact switches.

RE: How do these newer jumbo haulers carry anything?

That is a tough one. I think triple 7000 lb axles are the key. Obviously the mfg needs to build the frame and other components to handle the weight, but that is where it starts. Of course it ends with having a truck big enough to pull that much weight. My TH is only 35' long with triple 6k axles. All of the other I looked that size a few years ago had double 7k axles. 4000 pounds different! These trailers weigh 13k empty so I don't know what people did to make it work with 1000 lbs of capacity. Fill it with water and you're done! I hear some are moving to double 8k's now which is a little better. I've also noticed that lots of the mfgs count the pin weight separate as above and beyond axle load. Seems kind of creepy to me, but I guess it's technically correct.

RE: New to Toy Hauling, need some help

We use our toy hauler for races a couple of times per month. Due to the size of your truck, you'll be limited to the somewhat smaller or lighter toy haulers as they are typically pretty heavy compared to a regular travel trailer. Most of these probably wont' have a separate garage due to their smaller size. You'll probably be looking somewhere in the 21-25 foot range for your 1/2 ton truck. There are several brands out there that also make SuperLight models that can save quite a bit of weight. A few of them also come in 5th wheel models that would give you much more room for the same overall length. Brands like Weekend Warrior and their many other sub-brands are a pretty good deal right now since they went out of business a few years ago. We bought our first TH in 2004 when our kids were very little also and sure loved it. It was a 21' Weekend Warrior superlight and it towed great behind the half ton vehicles. Also, don't forget to take into account all of the extra gear and equipment that you will put in the TH like a generator, fuel, fluids, tools, etc. My 5300 pound superlight weighted in at nearly 9000 pounds fully loaded up with ATVs, water, etc. Be sure to leave yourself plenty of margin there. Unless you are buying new, I wouldn't worry about warranty stuff. A generator is a must at the track for running the air conditioner as most don't have power. Otherwise just your basic water and dump hoses, a few level blocks and wheel chocks should get you started. I'm sure you'll find plenty of check lists if you search a little too. Good luck!

RE: Gulfstream Enduramax

Same story from us as dodgboy. Got a 3310END a few years ago and love it. Much better quality than the WW I had before. The dealer I bought from got purchased and doesn't Gulfstream anymore. We had the fridge go out a few months ago under warranty and I had another local dealer do the work and they had no problem getting the work covered by Gulfstream. They made the only triple axle in the 35' length that I could find and we really love the vapor wall that splits and swings open.

RE: Heat in the front bedroom?

Be careful not too shut off any airflow. RV furnaces REALLY do not like that usually, and can cause expensive damage. Much better just to add a small fan in or over the duct you want more heat from. Fan can be 12 volt. That way you get more heat where you want it without endangering furnace. Just my two cents. Good point. Thanks for the tip.

RE: Heat in the front bedroom?

Great tips you guys. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm thinking I'll get some adjustable duct covers and maybe an extension hose to start. I'll probably bring along a little aux heater just in case it gets really chilly up there. We're headed to do some cold weather riding soon and want the wife to be comfy. Thanks!

Heat in the front bedroom?

Hey all. Our 35' toy hauler has the furnace under the fridge near the garage in the back of our RV. This results in lots of heat and airflow for the garage and main areas but really lacking by the time the hose snakes up to the front bedroom. I can feel air coming out, but the heat has been lost. Same for the one in the master bath. I noticed that my vent hoses pass through top of the underbelly storage so I can see they they are made of silver tubular ducting. All vent covers are circles about 4" across with no ability to open or close them at all. I can only change the direction of the airflow. Has anyone had a similar issue and come up with a good fix? I'm getting the wife a 12v heated blanket to at least warm things up for her before crawling in bed, but it would be nice to get some more heat up there. Looking at aux heaters or more ducts or anything. May look at some dampers for the ducts in the rear to try to deflect some of the heat up to the front too. Thanks for any suggestions.

RE: Calling all WW Superlite FK owners - floor buckling

I had no issues like that with my FK21. Sold it last year.
