RE: Lazydays sales

they have a HUGE problem with using the customers units for their spare parts bin. Ours was moved there by the manufacturer, from another dealers lot because of extremely poor service, and while it was there the Lazy Days techs robbed it blind. The cost to replace parts they stole was in the thousands......Only fools trust Lazy Days for anything. I've never heard anything like this happening anywhere! Please expand on your post about what the "techs robbed blind" on your unit. :R

RE: Where do you buy new tires from?

Although this might not work for the OP, we bought our Michelin 235/80R22.5 XRV's at Costco (cheaper than the FMCA pricing), and had them mounted at Goodyear Wingfoot down the street. Mounting was $35/tire, and included spin balance, and not the powder packet nonsense that other installers were going to do. ;)

RE: Windshield - exterior sunscreens

We gave our virtually new Prompts away! Horrible covers with the suction cups and the lame stretchy straps that go across the passenger window. They you are supposed to install the passenger side covers OVER these straps? Lousy! We went with the Sunguards with stainless snaps. Front and side windows, nice and tight and not saggy with MUCH better material than the Prompts.

RE: Windshield - exterior sunscreens

Is anyone using SUNGUARD windshield covers sold by the RV Toy Store? Yes we do and we replaced the virtually new Prompts with the Sunguards. They are great screens and a MUCH better product than the saggy, wrinkled suction cup Prompts! Get the matching side window covers when you buy the windshield cover!

RE: Installing New "secondary" A/C unit

HERE is the sticky that Paul (AFChap) spoke of at RVForum.net where several of us posted installing pictures of adding a roof air to supplement our inadequate basement air conditioners. Remember, you have to be a member of RVForum.net to be able to see the pictures. We consider 68 degrees comfortable, and not 80 degrees inside, so I made the decision to add a roof air to supplement our basement air. I didn't use the existing ductwork with my roof air install, as I just replaced my Fantastic Vent with a stand alone Brisk Air 13,500 BTU High Effeciency (10 amp) unit with a ceiling distribution box that blasts the cold air directly into our motorhome. I can cool my whole motorhome with this unit vs running the basement air, and can run both basement air and roof air with my 50 amp service or running the Onan 5500 generator. :) That is 3 compressors!

RE: towing a 5200# jeep with a gas motorhome; 8.1 l wrkhrs

W22 or W24?? The W24 has a much lower readend ratio. Tom, it depends as my W22 has a 5.86 rear end (6-speed Allison), and the 5-speed Allison has a 5.38 rear end.

RE: Basement air manufacturers

I need a list of basement a/c manufacturers currently making/selling basement a/c. All/any mfg please, because I am looking to replace a model no longer in existence. What do you have now? HERE is RVP Products which is the only manufacturer of basement air conditioning that I know of.

RE: Roof versus Basement A/C Units.

J-Rooster, that poster had posted several times in this thread that there were no basement air conditioning units in units with 4-slides. His responses were not only wrong, they certainly weren't funny. Most of us are here to help others with problems. It certainly didn't "get me going".

RE: Best flat screen TV for motorhomes

HERE is some installs of flat screens from our Winnie members. You must be a member of RVForum.net to view the pictures. Mine are on there too as I replaced a 26" Sony CRT tv with a 32" Vizio LCD.

RE: Roof versus Basement A/C Units.

My 40' DP has four slides....I wonder what that big box in the right rear is? It sure works like an air conditioner! Of course! There are many 4-slide motorhomes that have basement air.

RE: Roof versus Basement A/C Units.

Silverback and Big Katuna.... They discontinued gas motorhomes because the 4th slide on a Winnebago wouldn't work with basement air.:B:B:B MM. Please quit posting this nonsense. This is absolutely not true.

RE: Roof versus Basement A/C Units.

I have both. I greatly prefer the basement air. It quieter and work well when it was 100F out. Hope Winnebago goes back to it !!!!! The only way they will go back if people don't want slides. It is apparently difficult to have 4 slides AND basement air. So, it is likely to go the way of the Edsel. Hate to break the news. :( MM. Nope, it had nothing to do with having four slides. The basement air took up too much room in the basement as the diesel needed that room for the new EPA required fuel/exhaust equipment in 2011. Actually, it was both. It started when the bedroom slides were introduced. Friends of mine have a Winnebago Ultimate Advantage with one slide in the living area. There is room for the basement air. They might have had basement air with 3 slides with only one in the bedroom but the 4th slide knocked out the basement air. And, as you mentioned, the DEF tank nixed it. So, those that have basement air should enjoy their Edsels! LOL! MM. Sorry, you're still wrong. Come on over to the Winnie Forum at irv2 and you will find lots and lots of 4-slide units that have basement air. Winnebago discontinued the basement air solely due to the DEF tank space needed. Oh...and Winnie hasn't produced an Ultimate Advantage in a decade. :R

RE: Securing Genturi to side of coach - How did you do it?

I riveted the included strap mounts to the side of our Motorhome. Looks good and no leaks, and the Genturi will go with our motorhome when we sell it. Those small riveted brackets certainly doesn't affect resale value if that is what some are worried about! :R I didn't worry about riveting the strap bracket for the window awning to my motorhome either.

RE: Roof versus Basement A/C Units.

We have basement air in our Winnebago Voyage, and it doesn't do an adequate job of cooling our three slide, 36' motorhome, so I installed a 13.5K roof air (in place of the fantastic Vent), and now we are happy in warm climates. You can see some of the posts about this, including mine, with pictures HERE at the Winnie forum about this issue. You must be a member though to see the pictures. It's the single best mod we ever did. :)

RE: Which Tires ????????????

Just picked up my Michelin XRV 235/80R 22.5 tires up at my local Costco, and will have them installed next week. Oh yeah, I'm replacing 7 year old XRV's with no weather checking on them.

RE: Best flat screen TV for motorhomes

I put a 32" Vizio LCD ($275 at Costco) in my Winnebago last month. Yeah I could have gone with an LED model, but I wanted front firing speakers and didn't want to spend another $100 on an LED model. I dare anyone to show me the picture difference in the LCD vs the LED Vizio. :R The LED Samsung tvs don't have front firing speakers either. There is a sticky in the Winnebago forum at RVForum.net with PICTURES of us Winnie owners that have replaced the old CRT TV's in our unit. You must be a member of RVForum.net to see the pictures, otherwise all you can see is the text of our remodeling. I have included my install pictures in that thread. HERE is the sticky with pictures of some of our replacements. (make sure you are signed in as a member to be able to see the pictures)

Nice floorplan, but too heavy for the W-22....there is very limited CCC on this model.

RE: Does such a thing as a decent gasser exist?

Yep....we have a 2006 model "gasser" unit with the Workhorse Chassis, 8.1 liter, Allison transmission, and when I asked if this would be a good unit in 2006 (new), several DP owners badmouthed gas units. Really? Where are these posters now? Oh yeah....gone. LOL Remember, even if a DP engine in the motorhome has 80K miles, the "box" has also traveled 80K miles.
