RE: Bunk or No Bunk?

Troutspinner you will not regret your purchase I believe. Some will not agree with me, but a good rule of thumb is buy the biggest unit that you can store, tow, and afford. We were told that and did not follow it with our first purchase and our friend in the business told us we would be upgrading. Three years later I followed that rule and we upgraded. We now have a 10yr old and a 15yr with a Jayco 26H bunkhouse. Although it has no slide like the trailer you are purchasing, we are glad we bought one with bunks. Regarding room my nephew stayed with us this spring when we went to Atlanta for his graduation and he slept fine in the bottom bunk. He will be a freshman GA Bulldog (Too bad not a Hawkeye) FB player this year so there is room in the bunks!
Enjoy your new camper!!

RE: Small 5th wheels. Are we the only ones?

You are not the only ones, my wife and I were talking about this very subject while camping this past week and watching big 5th wheels coming in for the weekend. We looked at a never used 2010 Zinger floor model well priced with back bunks for the kids this spring that is reported to be 1/2 ton towable. However, the salesman who had sold our previous trailer told us he would not recommend it for our 2004 Z71 extended cab 5.3 Silverado. We do not want to upgrade to a 3/4 ton truck so we are keeping our set up for now.
The Puma 230FBS is a 1/2 ton towable 5th. My uncle bought one spring 2010 and pulled it to FL for the winter with same truck as mine and had no problems. We followed them to northern Wisonsin and it took the hills well. Not sure about mountains.
