RE: Driving with slide extended?

just another reason not to let the kids borrow the motorhome under ANY circumstances.
Or one could work to become a better parent by teaching their kids basio safety skills to prepare them for life.
It is my goal for our kids to have some good MH driving skills by the time they are 18. I have already demostrated to them in a CA NP what a rock wall can do to a closed awning. :B
My fatherin-law did that at Sutter's Mill NP!

RE: Awning repair on the cheap?

I have read many good post about this stuff... never personally used it...
Almost looks like it’s a little late to tape your awning though…
awning repair tape
.
&X2. Did it on my old Moho, about eight years ago, and it's probably still there.

RE: vortex fan speed contol

It'll do the job just fine, and the last stuff I ordered from HK said "Up to a month", and I got it in five days. Depends on customs or something, I guess.
PWM speed control works great, and doesn't consume the power that the large resistors I've seen recommended do.

I just got permission to boondock in a Marina in San Pedro next week. Their only request was that I use a Genturi, which I already have.

RE: Which latching relay?

Google the PPS BR 100 relay. Uses momentary current to latch the relay on or off, 100-A continuous, 300-A momentary current. Exactly what you need.

RE: Bosch Solar Panels

Hi cruz-in,
Bosch is an upper end company. I'd not be afraid to purchase them. At 29 volts, an MPPT controller will be desirable. For small solar, I very much like the Rogue Controller.
Rogue
If you get two or more panels I'd go to the Tristar 60 amp MPPT unit.
Bosch used to be upper end. Now they license their name, just like Coleman.
Pep Boys sells Bosch parts and tools made in China.

RE: 12 volt outlet fried charger

My guesss is that the '98 has a Parallax converter with raw D.C. for lighting when plugged into 120-vac. These things can put out up to 19-VDC with a horrendous ripple, as the output is taken directly from the rectifier output, before the regulator and line filtering.
I've seen people smoke CB's, stereos, and a host of other voltage sensitive items by connecting to this raw D.C.
The OP needs to see where the outlets are connected to the convertor.

RE: Dometic flue temp sensor

I stopped by Javi's RV Service in Lancaster, CA, this morning. He dug around in back for a minute or two and found one.
Wouldn't take any money for it, either!
That's why whenever I have a problem that I can't tackle, or don't feel like tackling, I go to Javi's!

RE: Dometic flue temp sensor

Remove the unit and look closely at the bright side. There should be a manufactuerer part number., temperature rating.
Many of these are made by chromolox.
It may even be the same as a water heater ECO
I hadn't thought of that, but my rusty brain remembers seeing yjat in the past! Honeywell Thermodisc makes the same stuff.
Thanks!

Dometic flue temp sensor

Help!
A friend juat bought a Jayco TT, and it has been setting unused since the mod to the reefer. He is getting it ready to use, and the reefer doesn't work. A quick check showed that the temp sensor in the flue is open, and resetting it, it feels like the innards have crystallized.
It holds until you tap it gently, and then opens back up. Feels like an old, bad, TV circuit breaker if any of you remember those!
Question is, where can I get another one? All of the Dometic manuals on-line don't even show the mod!
Thanks in advance,
Fred

RE: Unfurled Awning....

Awning lock shown doesn't work well for me as hole in awning tube winds up in different spot each time not allowing pin to go into the hole. Smae on 3 that I have installed.
Read the instructions, and roll the awning out a couple of times. The pin has a bullet head, and will find the hole after about a mile.

RE: How long can fresh water be in RV tank before getting funky?

I filter my co-op water going in, and NEVER dump it all. The co-op has a touch of chlorine when needed, and none when it ain't.
I always keep at least 1/3 tank in the Moho, as it is our earthquake refuge.
We have been using tanks since 1971, when we bought our first T/T, and have never had a problem with water.
As in anything else, common sense prevails. I'd never fill my freshwater tanks in Alamos, Mexico, but would in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

RE: Bigger oil filter for Onan 5500 Marquis ??

You need a cap style oil fiter wrench (socket) 65mm. I got mine from Onan. It will make your life simpler and you can use the standard filter. I use 122-0836 filter.
NAPA Gold has a replacement for the 0138 (longer) filter. It is the 7398, and Wix has it as well, 57398. Both meet or exceed the Onan at half or less the cost.

RE: Supplier Warning

I just cancelled an order from RV Surplus. I waited two months for a bedspread to ship. They had new excuses every week for not shipping.
I had to call them two weeks after cancelling to get my credit card charge reversed, but they finally did.
They never returned calls, updated me, or anything.
I guess I was lucky to get my money back!

RE: Towing a Jeep Liberty

do you have to disconnect any thing on drive train or what is the procedure for towing liberty. I have 06 diesel liberty and just curious.
For the 4X4 Liberty, all you have to do is put the tranny in park and the transfer case in neutral. The ignition switch has to be put in the position just before "on", which unlocks the steering wheel.
