You don't have any brake fluid, so strike that off your list.
If your front wheel bearings are oil bathed, it is likely the lube oil.
I do not think you are in for a big expense but it needs to be tended to right away.

The 98-00 American Eagles will have the 10K hitch, 110 gallon fresh water (tank+water heater), 150 gallon fuel tanks, 60 grey, 40 black and 40 gallon propane capacity.
You can purchase one and save the balance of your budget for fuel and park fees!

I did not see where any one talked about thr air conditioning. I travel the same areas you talked and and found that a coach with 3 ac units was a plus, especialy on hot days and nights!
The 2 13,500 BTU ducted units combined with the quality of the insulation in these coaches keep you nice and cool.
Even in August in Florida you only need to run one at night!

Than you all (most of you) for all of the great info.
I respect the informative information. The pithy comments, I expect, but I have a limited time to make a decision as this rig is through an auction so I would like owners of this coach to come forward and let me know how you like it, good or bad so I can make an informative choice.

Did not notice any pithy comments....seems to me you got a thumbs up from the responders.
The classic lines of these vintage Eagles/Dreams are admired by many.
Here are the other things you should consider:
-Large tankage (150 gallons fuel, 110 gallons fresh water,60 grey, 40 black, 40 gallons propane).
-Good thermal and acoustical insulation
-2000 Dream has a fiberglass roof I believe...check the specs
If you do not get this coach there is a screaming deal at PPL on a 99 Eagle.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I am not objective about these "vintage" American Coach products. Our experience with an older version of the Dream's big sister has been excellent with the quality the chassis, drive train, and house giving us an excellent ownership experience.
Here are my responses to your specific questions:
-Quality level of the coach was very high when built. If it has been well looked after that should be the case today.
-Size sufficient for 4 adults depends upon whether one of the adults will be comfortable on the fold-out couch and the other sleeping on a full size air mattress on the floor. If you are kind enough to let your parents have the queen size bed in the back you will be fine. We just spent 3 nights dry camping with another couple and the couch and air mattress worked out fine.
-The mechanics are really on par with new coaches. The ISC engine is still produced today as is the Allison 3060 six speed transmission. All of the hydraulic and air systems use standard components. All filters used are readily available.
The 2000 Dream rides on the Spartan Mountain Master Chassis with independent front suspension. Drives like a dream, no pun intended.
Both American Coach and Spartan will treat you like a king if you need factory support.
The only known issue is with the ball joints on the front suspension. They are "lubed for life" and should be checked. They are repairable but that should not be on your dime IMHO.

From what I understand all American Coaches built as 1998 model year will have the mechanical C8.3 engine.
You can always call American Coach with your FIN number and they will tell you exactly what is in the engine bay.
Ditto for Spartan with the VIN number.
Both American Coach and Spartan are very helpful and supportive of their owners.

I doubt if there is a spark arrester; it's a diesel. However I think there's a "blow out hole" on the muffler that's accessed by removing a pipe plug.
Referred to in the Onan 7500 Manual as a spark arrestor, ditto in the video.
We all understand that diesels do not have spark plugs!

Sounds to me like you need to clean your spark arrestor.
Your manual will show you the location (near the muffler).
There is a video on the web that will show you the process for cleaning it out.
Just do a search on Onan 7500 servicing.

We just bought our 1st RV a 35' class A. Every time I shut down the house and chassie batteries and then restart them the LP detector goes off and does not shut off. is it normal to have to reset it everytime?

You (they) were smelling other products of combustion. Carbon Monoxide has no smell
X3 plus your diesel generator emits substantially less CO than a gas powered genny.
Our CO monitor has never detected any CO except once when we pulled into a rest area next to a MH running their gasoline generator under load. Gauge jumped from 0 to 23 in the few seconds we had our door open next to the generator's exhaust pipe.
In the boating world their are too many instances of people dying due to running gasoline powered generators while sleeping in low wind conditions.
Never heard of any instances with a diesel generator.

How many hours will a generator last. I have about 300 hours on mine. Its in 99 discovery, and may be in Las Vegas during the summer and will be running he a/c
Your 99 Discovery likely has the 7500 Onan Quiet Diesel.
Should be good for 20,000 hours if the PM schedule is followed.
Part of the PM is to run under load for 2 hours a month.
Yours needs some "exercise"...just be mindful that you need to change the oil every 150 hours if you are in a constant use environment.

skip they said we can run all night if we like. but can the gen set handle running for a long time or do I need to let it rest? I think I responded to you previously on something else......if you decide to run it all night, then you'd BETTER be at least 5 miles from me!!!!! Why in heavens name would you consider that long??? We've run one all day --- stupid friend brought his grandson with one of that #@#$@#$@#$ battery operated cars --- the car had to be charged for 8 hours.....then the #$@$#@$ car would make all kinds of noises. To say we told the friend to NEVER do that again is putting it mildly. The generator would run 10-12 hours. So you'd be okay --- but please consider your neighbors. Even if you're boondocking way out away, sounds carry in the wild -- even miles away.
David, your diesel genny with its sound shield will not bother any reasonable campers.
We just returned from 3 days of dry camping at a music festival in Live Oak, Florida. The only generators that were noticeable were the gasoline/contractor type that some of the travel trailers were using.
Get a Carbon Monoxide detector for peace of mind, but diesels that are running properly emit very low levels of CO.
Out of tune gasoline generators will emit quite a bit of CO...your detector will be more to detect the deadly gas if you are near campers that are using their gasoline generators.

Thank everyone!! I filled it up And ready to go!! And no gray water dumpping for me!
Good decision!
We always travel with full fresh, empty black and grey.
Coach seems to like this configuration.
Just spent 4 days dry camping at a music festival with another couple and we had to travel home with 1/4 fresh, 3/4 grey and 1/2 black.
We all took daily "boat showers" and thus were able to stretch the 110 gallons of fresh water and not fill the grey tank.
BTW, dumping grey water is not legal in Florida.

I am with the majority here.
Bought our flagship in January 2009..27K miles later (now 74K on the clock) and many trips I am happy to report that all is well and the only real maintenance has been preventive.
IMHO you can tell right away with an older DP how well it has been looked after and how much use the house was subject to.
With a high end used DP you typically get top end fit and finish and first class materials.

My first experience with Enterprise cured me of renting. First they had no one to bring the car to me. I got dropped off at the office and was then stranded because they had no car available. I had to make a lot of calls to get back to the MH. This was in Suburban Atlanta so not in the sticks. I never gave a second try after that one.
Must have been ages ago, Enterprise no longer brings the car to you...they pick you up and take you to their office for you to pick up the vehicle.
We have never had an issue with getting a car from Enterprise and have all the cash that we did not spend on the tow vehicle and towing setup to spend on diesel and CG fees.
After 3 + years of owning our Class A, I can tell you that we never had any inconvenience from not towing. Many here will tell you that they would not consider not towing but you will be many dollars ahead by using Enterprise.
BTW, Enterprise is not open on Sundays...so you have to work around that!

I can only tell you that American Coach treats me like I just bought a new Heritage when I call. Extraordinary customer service.
Ditto for Spartan when I have called.

Diesel availability will never be an issue if you go DP.
Range is fantastic, we hold 150 gallons so 1,000 miles between fill-ups could be done but is actually never done as we top off regularly.
One big advantage of going Diesel is the abundance of service facilities and the ability to use a company like Speedco for instant gratification and an excellent price of your annual services (chassis lube, oil and filter change, fuel filter(s) change, rear differential check, front axle lube check, SCA check,engine oil analysis and Onan generator service). No appointment, no waiting. You are back on the road within an hour.
To put things in perspective about ride quality, we left Live Oak Florida (near Georgia) driving to Fort Lauderdale on Sunday (360 miles).
I left the contact covers to the 6 volt lantern batteries in the soap dish in the bathroom. (Some of the road surfaces on the southern part of the Florida Turnpike are a bit rough).
Cleaned the coach today and the contact covers were still sitting there in the soap dish!
Have fun looking and making your decision.
