RE: Pricing new F150?

Sheesh, I got a better quote than X-plan on my own. Now the dealer is looking for a F150 EB with the right equipment on it! Not terribly likely, but it's ok, as long as you believe you got a good deal, that's all that matters!

RE: Ford owns it's logo again!

Most bank loans I'm aware of require collateral, especially when your burning thru cash like Ford was in 05-06. Glad Ford, along with the rest of the surviving car companies, are succeeding. Let's just hope none of them forget about 2008 anytime soon. All the Brands that no longer exist should be a good reminder of that.

RE: Ford F-150 eco-boost MPG

Apology accepted. Now can we all just get along? :B We all agree that the Ecoboost is somewhere between the best truck on earth and the worst vehicle ever to roll off the assembly line? :p I always try to keep the facts straight, so if ever I get them wrong, I trust my Amigos on RV.net to set me straight. I would buy any of you guys a beer outta my fridge. Anyone this passionate about vehicles can't be bad.

RE: F-150 EB - Tow, or Max Tow Package?

Go with a 3/4 ton truck if your going that heavy. When Ford has to start reporting capacities with the new rules all of this is going to drop down anyway. Keep in mind, the new rules are not required or Law. The MFG's volunteered to use the SAE guildlines to establish tow ratings. I know the Big 3, and Toyota have commited, not sure who else has.

Don, are you trying to hurt my feelings? While your searching for that 23 mpg ecoboost link, please also find a post of mine where I'm calling you a name.

RE: Ford F-150 eco-boost MPG

thanks for the injection of reality everyone. I am posting from my phone and multi quoting is out of the question. Don can't or won't grasp the concept that 3.5 and 3.7 aren't the same thing.

RE: Ford F-150 eco-boost MPG

Well from your link it says "Ford F-150 SuperCrew using just three tanks of gas. ..... CleanMPG: It also delivers an unsurpassed 22 mpg fuel economy rating on the highway." So it looks like Ford derated it by one mile per gallon. But I will find it, this was most likely the 2010....nope here you go Ford's own web site LMAO CLICKY CLICKY whats that I hear????? Don Keep Laughing your a$$ off..then, TRY AGAIN. Not all F-150's are Ecoboosts, not all Ecoboosts are F-150's. It's true the F-150 is rated at 23 MPG if you opt for the 3.7 V6 n/a, which is not the same thing as the 3.5 V6 Ecoboost. So, again: Find me the Ford Link that says the ECOBOOST is rated for 23 MPG, not just F-150. Don't worry, I'll wait. No personal attack here. Just correcting your false statements, that's all.:D

RE: Ford F-150 eco-boost MPG

Hwy MPG: 19.5 No best in class here and a far cry from Fords 23 MPG they claim. City MPG: 16 see above I'm BEGGING!!! PLEASE, I'm BEGGING you to find a Ford link that states the Ecoboost is rated or expected or promised to get 23MPG highway. I have a feeling I will be waiting a long time...or will you just ignore this post? When you make wild acusations purely out of hatred for a particular company, I'd suggest at least getting your facts straight. I'm not a huge fan of past Chrysler products, but I am wildly impressed by what they are doing with the newest products.

RE: Pricing new F150?

I'm working with two dealers on a 2012 XLT, EB, SC, 157in. wheelbase and HD payload with max tow package. Also has convenience package. Several other options that amount to around $600. Best offer so far without sales tax is $32,900. How is this figure looking to you who have purchased a similar Ford F150? Any and all advice is welcomed. From reading the other posts on the Ecoboost, everyone seems to think people pay 42,000 for any ecoboost. But seriously, ask to see the Invoice, and they should be willing to go within ~500 bucks of X-plan pricing. All that should be figured before you take any incentives off the price.

RE: GM's new 2013 tow ratings

GM, and Toyota have taken the lead on this. Will be interesting to see how it affects the rest of the industry. Actually, it was Toyota who took the lead, like two years ago. GM is the next brave one. Who will be next? Chrysler? Ford? Is Nissan conforming to the standard? Last I read (years ago now) they hadn't signed on board.

RE: GM's new 2013 tow ratings

i wonder if the weight police will be disappointed with the small drop in tow rating on GM vehicles. Personally about what i guessed, most configurations have very little change. Why would the "weight police" be disappointed with the small drop in tow ratings. Your comment makes no sense. The, as you say, "weight police" usually harp about trying to keep weights under a trucks GVWR, which allows less than the RAWR, this just reinforces the fact that there is actually less "leeway" than once thought by those who think you can tow any weight with any truck. Thus, the "new" towing weight adjustments just reinforces the reason to try to stay closer to one's GVWR instead of RAWR to allow some for "margin of error" when equating how much one's truck should be able to tow....safely and efficiently.. just my thoughts and not worth much coming from a so called "weight police":R Seems to me many were saying how overrated all the vehicles were. And that the new SAE standard would surely reel in all these over inflated outragous tow ratings. And (with the exception of the 5th wheel numbers) the ratings dropped about 200 lbs. Wow... 200 lbs. That's like ONE person!! No, IMHO the real weight police go around saying that a half ton should only be used for bringing home groceries. And that when truck shopping you should really start with a 1 ton DRW, then go pop up shopping second. People that advise a vehicle to be used within it's ratings are not Weight Police IMHO - they are rational thinkers. But if you want to label yourself the weight police, hey go for it. I'd suggest making a lil badge out of tin foil or the like.:B

RE: Ford F-150 eco-boost MPG

based on the love from the people who actually own one. Well we had note the word had three vendors that deliver to my plant that have owned them. Only one still has his the other two couldn't what the dump them. Fords MPG rating was high and drops like a rock as soon as you put any weight to it. They sold people on them with their deceptive advertising. Running a truck at WOT around a track does not prove a thing. If they wanted to really test it they should have done a 24 hour stop and go test. The only thing that test proved was it can run at WOT. Hell my Cummins can do that and get better mileage doing it loaded or empty. I hope all you Beta Testers didn't get taken for a $42,000+ ride for a half ton truck OMG. For that money (less really) you guys could have had a V-8 :S Don But don't worry, Don has no axe to grind, nor does he hold ANY grudges against FoMoCo. I think he is really a closet Ford Lover!!:B

RE: Ford F-150 eco-boost MPG

Believe me I have nothing against the new F-150 turbo V-6. No doubt a fine, powerful half-ton. But am I the only one underwhelmed by the gas mileage. What is it, about 22 highway I think. My 2007 5.2 V-8 Chevy will average a little over 20(that would go up to 21 or more if not 4WD) on interstate non-towing and get about 15 overall average. The advantage Ford claims doesn't seem all that impressive for 2 less cylinders. Certainly not enough better to be worth trading for or paying a lot for the option? Am I missing something? Come back and talk to me when your chevy can do this: The hypermiling mavens from CleanMPG.com have completed a 2,500-mile cross-country trip in a 2011 Ford F-150 SuperCrew using just three tanks of gas. They squeezed an astonishing 32.281 miles per gallon from the EcoBoost-powered half-ton. CleanMPG drove a two-wheel drive model from California to Georgia with a conservative 3.15 rear axle for maximum fuel economy. That doesn't mean they didn't use the truck like it was meant to be used. There were five adults in the pickup for most of the journey plus a cargo box full of camping gear and supplies that pushed the F-150's gross vehicle weight to 7,120 pounds -- 20 pounds over its 7,100-pound GVWR. Link is here. Keep in mind the Eco is capable of this, and is a much better all around performer than your 5.3 GM. The only question left at this point is long term durability, of which the 5.3 has proven itself. The Ecoboost is on the same track so far, but only time will tell.

RE: Is a Half Tonner Enough Today?

id estimate that a 2012 F150 maxtow ecoboost is superior to a 1992 F250 7.3, but its a stretch to compare it directly to a 2002 powerstroke. Major advances have been made, but it takes more than just a few years to move THAT far.

RE: our Ecoboost is here!!

Very nice. Your new car looks nice and I like the idea of a turbo 4 banger...economy when you want...power when you need it. You mention Hyundai Santa Fe. That's one of the candidates for our next vehicle. I've known two guys who have always got domestic cars in the past and bought Santa Fe's in the past 18 months. One has the 4 cylinder, the other the V6...the V6 has ton's of power. Both have not had one problem between the two of them in that time. BTW, the Santa Fe is made in Georgia I think....maybe Alabama. I really wanted to like the SantaFe. My FIL has a new Tucson, it's a great combo of price, options and warranty(a bit of a harsh ride). But the SantaFe is way too long in the tooth IMHO, and when I see a 6 or 8 year old Hyundai on the road, they look like they don't hold up very well. We tend to keep vehicles for a long time, so it's important that the hold up well to the elements. My wife is very jealous right now! We're looking to trade her Escape for something with comfortable seats. The Edge is at the top of the list for the reasons you mentioned as well as some others. My wife is already loving the power liftgate and remote start/inteligent entry. Very nice with full hands, but there are so many features I'm still trying to learn about them all.

RE: Major fuel leak 6.7L Ford Powerstroke

Was that covered under warranty? :-) the local Ford dealer is going to try and warranty it. Goodwill I am sure, since I bought the truck there. Service manager says that if Ford wants them to send in the fuel line, then that could present a problem. Have to wait and see. With all the comments going around lately about Fords warranty coverage, it will be interesting to see what the outcome is...Do keep us updated.

RE: our Ecoboost is here!!

Congrats on the new ride they are a very nice cross-over. BTW your comment This is my Wife's first Ford, but it was what she picked after driving them all. is not ture. If she had a Volvo she had a Ford! Ford owned Volvo up until 08/2010 when they sold it to China's Geely. Was a very said day and sorry but a very poor move on Fords part. Here's hoping Geely doesn't finish off Volvo like Ford tried to do. Don Actually, Ford didn't buy Volvo till ~2000, her S40 was designed/conceived in the pre-Ford owned era (actually joint effort with volvo/mitsubishi). So Ford can't take credit for having only one non-wear item failure over 105K miles, a relay for the climate blower motor, which failed in the warranty period. The only unexpected wear item were sway bar 'bar to body' bushings that failed at about 90K miles. By far the most reliable vehicle she's owned. Before the Volvo, she had an Infinity G-20 and a pair of SL2 Saturns. Here's hoping the Edge is a lot like the Volvo in reliability.

RE: our Ecoboost is here!!

I could be wrong but I believe what Fordlover has there is the Ford Edge with the 2.0 EB. Real Nice Ride! Correct. Can't believe I left out that info. It's the 2013 Edge Limited Ecoboost 2.0 liter 4cyl. The funny thing is it puts out basically the same peak hp and torque numbers as my 4.6 V8 :E:B:E

our Ecoboost is here!!

Ok, so it's not THAT ecoboost that so polorizes many members on these forums, and it's not quite up to the task of towing our TT, but I couldn't help but post anyways. Hope you guys don't mind. 2013 Edge Limited 2.0/4cyl Ecoboost. Ordered it 4/14, it was built 5/7, and it arrived 5/18. Before it's bath: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-y2ccvkRjPrY/T7gui91s4jI/AAAAAAAAAN8/HwTg70zm1Ro/s884/2012-05-19-042.jpg width=640 After it's bath/claying: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-k_Lqz5HWIqU/T7gux3pf8RI/AAAAAAAAAOE/fxvY2Xmngfg/s884/2012-05-19-050.jpg width=640 And one interior shot: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Cny0FVu3Ku8/T7gwWNcN7SI/AAAAAAAAAO8/nXKaRhDzFpI/s885/2012-05-19-055.jpg width=640 My wife's volvo was very cramped with the baby seat, so we decided it was time to upgrade. We cross shopped the Hundai SantaFe (seemed old/outdated) and the Lexus RX350 (required premium fuel) and the Lincoln MKX (Got too pricy with options). We were aiming for a non hybrid drivetrain with City MPG of 20 or better. We could definitely see why the Lexus is the segment leader as it seems to have it all. This is my Wife's first Ford, but it was what she picked after driving them all. The MyFordTouch is pretty awesome. Definitely has a learning curve, but it looks like Ford has wised up and is having a Sync/MFT tech walk you thru many of the features of the system. There are tons of other thoughtful and safety items, but I fear this is getting long enough as it is.
