RE: Pilot/Flying J Discounts

Lanerd
Pilot/Flying J RV plus gives you 8 cents off per gallon purchased. ie 3.92 for 4.00. 8 cents times 25 = 2.00. Yes 5 percent cash back on 100 is better. Is 2 dollars now better than 5 later. The cost of fuel yo-yo's to much and inflation will eat us a live.
One thing we have to watch for is:
Is there an annual fee charged.
Is the cash back limited ie $ 100.00.
In any case when I'm on the road and towing my trailer. I do look for the best price, convenience of in and out and parking. GPS's work great for this as well as other aids such as next exit(good only on the Interstate).
My personal opinion is the banks will never let you get rich. And, Shell, Texaco, Exxon/Mobil will get you for every penny they can for as long as they can. Supply and demand be hanged. We the consumer have no defense.

RE: Going East from Sacto. to D,C.and N.Y.

I'm from a suburb of Sacramento, Elk Grove. I've traveled East many times towing a 5th Wheel. My wife drives also. We're both retired. Yes the "turnpikes" I95, the belt way have heavy traffic. Just know where you're going, take it easy, use a GPS if you have it (with a grain of salt), it can mis direct you. Just don't plug address in and go. Look ahead, read your state maps. Also, I traveled from Delaware to New Jersey, to New York to Boston via I 95 in the down poring rain. Yes it was white knuckled but manageable. I've also been on the Beltway to Cherry Hill RV park on Friday evening rush hour in a drizzle. Traffic was heavy. Again know the route and off ramp you want. You'll get there with very little trouble.
As for weather, If you travel East before May, take I40 to OK city then I44. Note: You can on occasion hit snow sprinkles in NM and AR.
Traveling mid April or latter in the year, I80 is a good route. Even through the outskirts of Chicago. Get yourself an EZ Pass for the toll roads. It covers most if not all of the toll roads in the East. Any state that has a toll can issue you an EZ Pass for about 25.00. You get that back when you turn it in. As for going in to Canada to Quebec City go via I81 through Syracuse. Can't give you a good time to cross over. Traffic can be backed up (delayed) anytime of the day. When you head back west through Canada above all places to avoid it is Toronto. If you can cross over into the US and by pass Toronto.
Sorry to be so long winded but these are my travel thoughts for getting around in an RV.
